What do think of the (supposedly) imminent signing of Anthony Martial?

Apparently he's extremely talented but he's also got a very bad attitude according to what a few people are saying. How true is this?

So had/has Memphis. who are these people who are saying it & can we have evidence?

Price if true is crazy. Looks a real talent, but at that price he should be further along in his development. Wish I'd seen more of him playing as seems a very big risk by the club.

Assuming he's to slot right in, I'm guessing it would be on the right side of attack where Mata has been playing?

So him and Memphis either side of Rooney?
Unless my stream and all youtube videos are mirrored, he usually plays on the left.

While we are getting a very talented player, can't say this transfer isn't more ammunition for those who wanna bash Woodward and Van Gaal.

Getting the 'big' players isn't easy because none of the big clubs want to sell. People saying it's panic buying. It depends on your perspective. There's panic selling which I think we did with Di Maria. No one is expecting this kid to come in and set the world alight but we'll be looking at this long term. He might come in and surprise people. He has the physical characteristics to cause teams problems and the price is fine. We didn't screw up the market but if you want to compete, you have to compete. I don't always agree with the club and how it goes about business - but in this instance (and hopefully there's more), I think it's a positive step.

Who cares at City what they paid? They're excited. We should be excited but the club are letting so many go (seemingly) that I think there will be even more business. We need a complete rebuild of our attacking intent. We've established a reasonable defensive base but how much of that is because of a lack of adventure? This kid looks quick and we'll have to wait and see if he can win our trust. Can he be productive? That's the question. Can he help make others be productive?

Do you believe he is good enough to start or will he be an option of the bench?

I don't know, when he was linked with Tottenham I said to Glaston that he should stay where he is. So I'm going to be consistent and say that he should stay where he is, he has the talent and he could play in the PL but it's a risk to move to early.

Side question for French speakers or anyone in the know: do you pronounce his name as we would in English (Mar-shull), like Mar-tee-al or a different way?

In before he inevitably has a few quiet games to start while he adapts and everyone goes mental and throws around Bellion comparisons.

Craziest signing I've seen if the reported figures are true. Started 28 games and scored 11 goals in the league. Hopefully he comes good though if we're really in for him.

Martial is better and was a lot better in CL. But the thing is all Monaco youngsters are exceptional, all of them. Last night they played with Bernardo Silva(21), Lemar(19), Martial(19) and El Shaarawy(22). They are all very talented.

No one talks about their players, but Bernardo Silva for example will leave for a lot of money and for a very big club.
Well that's encouraging then. Is Bernardo Silva an attacker as well, we should do well with another one ? :)

Its not as absurd if you consider that we are struggling to sign players with pace who are already established. If we can't sign the likes of bale or muller then it makes sense to sign someone who has potential to reach that level. A lot of players are blessed with either pace or control, he has both of them and add some vision to that, he looks more set to be a hit than a miss. I think if we want to make it back to the elite level once again, we have to take such gamble. Vietto and Dybala and even lacazette are more unlikely to be very best than this kid. Sure, we are getting skinned by Monaco but its much better to sign a player at more cost and gamble rather than not sign and wonder as was the case in Hazard.
On what basis? I can give you Lacazette argument but surely not Vietto/Dybala, especially Dybala who at the moment look quite better than him.

Not saying that Martial won't become world class or anything, but it is borderline lunacity to pay 80m euros for a 19 years old kid who has proven slightly more that Wilson and around as much as Januzaj. We are talking for money that can bring you already world class players.

I hope that the fee is far less than it (although even half of that is still too much). Wasn't it rumoured that Monaco asked Chelsea for 40m euros and so Chelsea removed their interest?

It's Mar-tee-al.

it is Marcial. Like Marcel Desailly.

What are the French making of this 80m Euro deal?

He is an inside forward, but like all young players he lacks consistency.
