He was okay, he just doesn't have the presence of a proper centre forward yet for me, but then we don't really have anyone that does.

yeh. Better than Lukaku to the overall team play. But feels like, he's still a dime a dozen of striker out there.

Drifts in and out of games too much but still capable of creating something (e.g lovely skill to get away from the defender for what should have been a penalty)

Thought he was our biggest danger today. Got in behind plenty of times, victim of various fouls.

Thought the rest around him were extremely poor.

He seemed to be involved in every critical circumstance, even if they weren’t called correctly.

Should’ve got one man sent off, then should’ve won a penalty, then actually did help win a penalty with a deft bit of skill, then assisted for the goal.

I really like him as a striker (not that we have much options). His first touch is excellent, can hold the ball, can beat a man, good link-up play. Even his movement is much better then on the wing. You could say he goes out of the game for large periods of time, but it seems to me it's a case of us being unable to provide him more service.

McTominay and Lingard can’t even pass from the midfield for Martial to get the ball. When he does get the ball you know it will stick to him and something is likely to happen.

Gonna be long and frustrating season for him... absolutely no service coming his way.

He's the only man with a calm head in the attack. Everyone else has the headless chickenry in their play. Shame.

MOTM for me, he got an assist, should have gotten a penalty from his own piece of quality play and should have gotten Cahill sent off as I think he bags had he not been pulled back, his touch and hold-up play were good and he's more assertive and agressive in his attitude, I liked how he ran and got the ball for Rashford to take the pen, taking the situation on so there was no debate.

?? Why exactly? He had a big role and created plenty for himself today. Didn't get on the end of any big chances, though I guess 2 of them would've been clear cut chances if he didn't get clearly fouled for both (only for the ref and VAR to shockingly ignore both). The service into him wasn't bad today, nor was his performance. Absolutely nothing to suggest that. Chances were there just like they were there vs Wolves last week. Sometimes players just don't take them.

I thought he was very good. Whenever he gets the ball near the box, you're always expectant with Tony. He's magic to watch.

Feeding on scraps throughout, he managed to turn a harmless pass 20 yards from goal with his back turned into a clear goal-scoring chance & obvious penalty/red card. You could never dream of that happening last season with Lukaku.

There's just zero service for him and Rashford whatsoever, it's really painful to watch.

The accusations that have been leveled at him in the past by fans, are that his attitude is disinterested and he doesn't run around enough. Well these people should be here to praise him when his work rate and attitude have been faultless so far this season.

Was excellent again today, if we can get the ball to him more, he's going to bang them in this season.

Brilliant . Didnt knew he would just fit right in as 9.
On another day, we get that penalty 100%

Any news on his injury ?

Do we know anything about his injury? If he's out for a while we're in big trouble.

Great hold-up play, nice assist, should've won another pen. A good start back as our CF.

Hopefully he's okay in regards to him struggling at the end.

Much prefer him as a striker than wide forward/winger. Baffling how Cahill stayed on after taking him down and that was a clear penalty in the 2nd half too. Will be a massive blow if he is injured.

On the official site Ole says he hopes both Martial and Shaw can train this week and be fit for Southampton.
Good, hopefully he scores a couple and we forget about this afternoon.

9 is his natural position, he actually needed to learn how to play wide. I still don't understand how people where claiming that his movement and technique weren't made for strikers, he has always been playing like a striker out of position.

Would have walked away from the game with 2 goals if Palace wasn't playing dirty.

Possibly the worst refereeing I've seen in a EPL match.

True, I was one among those who thought he wont make the runs.

He needs to have some sort of a central big striker to play off him. I remember one game where Jose put him centrally to Zlatan and he was very good.

The good thing about him as our 9 is that he can create for himself something that's very essential due to our lack of creativity. He was starved for services yet managed to manufacture some chances for himself which should have either led to goal or penalty of not for blatant referee incompetence.

His hold up play and first touch are so good. The way he traps the ball and kill it dead on his feet is beautiful.

I remember early in the game Pogba put in a pass with lot of pace at him and he just killed it, trapped it and turned but was fouled right away. Now that I think about it, Martial should have gotten at least 1 player sent off and several on yellow cards. The ref was an utter joke.

Would have scored 1 or 2 if it wasn't for this terrible referee. We need VAR for shit like this.

By the way, I loved his celebratory fist pump to James' equaliser.

I can't remember him celebrating a goal with that much passion. Even his own goals!

Feeding off of very little but he is probably the most influential player we have. That turn for the clear penalty that VAR checked and said wasn’t was great but the touch under pressure when Pogba fires a brilliant pass at him. That was class. Killed it dead.
He does seem a lot more purposeful with his movement and choices than on the wing. He'll be a dangerous player.

I'm not a Martial's fanboy or hater. I was really confused about his developpement since LVG. This season will be deliver or quit for him. Now, we can be sure he's a 9 and I think he did really well since the start of the season. Far from perfect but very promising imo. Hope his injury isn't bad so he can build on it.

Yep and in all instances it was a quick pass to him and good control by martial.

Thought his hold up stuff was impressive and the way he linked a few times when there was space

Thought he was our best attacker, he is just more polished for me than Rashford, who can be all over the place, like today. Still both are young and need to grow further

Refereeing basically stole one of his best performances away from him today.

Beautifully turned both Palaces CBs to get through on goal and dragged down both times. In a just world it's a sending off and a penalty. Or probably two great goals if they dont drag him down.

Also assisted James and played Scott in for his penalty. Wronged today.
