He was a steal at 7.5 million in fantasy football as a midfielder while knowing he was going to play up front for us regularly this year. He should hit 20 if he stays injury free.
1 driving run which created Martial goal.
Coming up with more nonsense in every next post. First the english thing, flat out lying and then that "i don't like Martial hype'. You sound like a Martial fan boy, which is never a good starting point for any discussion/argument. Praising him for making space somewhere near the half way line and saying he played role in the goal, then downplaying Rashford's run from one box to other, which actually created the goal.
As a striker, Martial movements are very good and also as demonstrated by the Wolves game he managed to find pocket of spaces in that tight and compact defense.
He has movement, hold up play and link up play to be an ideal striker. And most importantly he is bloody clinical which is the biggest win and attribute you need in your striker.
Lets go back to make sure we actually on the same page. I am talking about this comment above.
I have just stated facts. Rashford ran with the ball, Martial was on for an early pass but he didn't pass it. Ole mentioned that in his interview afterwards. The ball then found its way out to Perrera who put a wonderful ball into the 6 yard box and Martial scored.
You are correct that Rashford did really well to get the ball up the pitch but to say he created it when actually we needed a quality cross from Pereirra as well. You don't mention him - just Rashford.
You just sound as though you want an argument with someone and being a mum to teenage boys I am really not interested.
Do you disagree with 'Rashford's run created Martial's goal'?
Lets start at the beginning - which of the 2 this season do you mean.
You somehow gave credit to Martial for Rashford winning penalty, Pogba making superb pass, Pogba making superb driving run but come up with excuses to downplay Rashford's involvement in the goal.
I gave credit to individuals for doing things that in the last few years we have not been very good at.
We have not had a CF who has dropped in to the false 9 position, dragging their defensive player with them to win those type of free kicks - well done Martial.
We have not had the rotation where another forward then takes that vacated area - well done Rashford for seeing the space
We have always had the Pogba delivery and we have always had the Rashford finish as both showed that last season.
There was a time where he did look at home cutting in from the left, so possibly I may have liked him playing there at the time but not sure. But it became pretty clear to me he was a central striker last season when most had given up on him tbh, and anything positive regarding Martial at the time was frowned upon. My suggestion of playing him as the #9 didn't go down well. But it's early days and still a long way to go in the season.Sure? I remember you saying he is better as left side attacker long back (before last season ended and previous seasons).

Obviously Chelsea goal, no point asking about Wolves goal as it was directly assisted by Rashford.
I think with Martial, Rashford and Mason we will potentially be more fluid in attack hence i'm hoping we'll create more chances due to the interchanging of positions and better hold up play. The only question mark is the midfield IMO.Yeah, the expectations are unrealistic. He barely plays 50% of total mins but somehow expects him to score shit loads of goals.
This season will be the first time since Van Gaal season where he will play plenty of mins and also important role in the team. Can see him scoring and assisting a lot, especially if he plays as a #9.
My memory is we broke through Rashford and lots of movement ahead and it nearly broke down as got a little congested but then it went wide right via Lingard I think and Pereira put in a fantastic cross.
I think its been between Wan Bissaka and Martial for our best player over the first 2 games. Martial is showing exactly what he's about at CF and will only improve as he settles in the the position. Funnily enough, I think Martial was far more suited to be Mourinho's #9 as well since he can actually control a high ball and bring others in to play.
Rashford turned nothing situation into goal scoring one with his run.
Yeah, it's funny though because I remember in his first game, all those years ago, he held off Squirtle (not sure how to spell it) really well and I was surprised because he didn't look particularly big. He just seems to know how to use his weight and strength really well. Not tall enough i guess... the idea must have been that it was easier to teach Lukaku how to control a football than it was for Martial to become big and strong.
Years later... Lukaku still cant control a football.
This is a part of Martial's game most people aren't aware of or simply didn't get the chance to see much since he's hardly played as our striker. When he just came to united when he was played as a striker by LVG his hold up play was sublime. He can actually even play as a target man which is another plus for him as a striker.I think its been between Wan Bissaka and Martial for our best player over the first 2 games. Yeah, I used to call him Squirtle when he first moved to Liverpool, decent nickname I think.Squirtle had to think about that one. The big bald Liverpool defender right? Skrtel i believe? Squirtle is a pokemon...
This actually made me laugh.
But yes, having Martial up top is like a breath of fresh air after Lukaku left a stench. Lukaku is also the opposite of what you describe. He looks big and strong but he should be using it better. Lukaku is more of a Chicarito type of player but on steroids.
I always wonder how far along him and Rashford would be in their development if LVG stayed on. They both played really well under him.
Jose clearly didn't fancy Martial. Both's development have taken a hit during Jose's time. Hopefully both of them have their breakthrough season under Ole.I always wonder how far along him and Rashford would be in their development if LVG stayed on. They both played really well under him.
Your analysis of martial is always on point. He is by far the best attacker we have at the club and after a good preseason even Ole agrees. I always knew he had good movement and wasn’t just a mindless runner. It’s amazing that it’s only Manchester United fans that can’t see there is a clear difference between him and Rashford. You can blame that to the latter coming from the academy. Still ask any fans of other clubs and they will tell you Martial is much better. Anyway I’m glad they both play for this club and are both young. Now that I think about it, people have always gone about how Martial couldn't play as a striker because of poor movement and such when in reality that couldn't be further from the truth. The truth of matter simply was most people had/have no idea what Martial's movement as a striker would have been like because he'd never gotten to play there but instead as a left winger where he often choose to start plays when he had the ball to feet.

I think one of Mourinho's issue was he didn't know how to manage their development, playing Rashford consistently through his poor patches when he could've done with some time out of the spotlight was awful management. Then also benching Martial when he was playing well was bizzare.Jose clearly didn't fancy Martial. Both's development have taken a hit during Jose's time. Hopefully both of them have their breakthrough season under Ole.
You could probably take away all of their first half goals and any goals where they shot first time. Neither would have played up front either as "My captain shall always play." He might have thrown one of them in at the deep end in an important match then binned them straight afterwards too.I always wonder how far along him and Rashford would be in their development if LVG stayed on. They both played really well under him.
He played almost all of it on the wing. Also doesn't help when martial scored 11 goals with 9 assists and was dropped for Alex worldclass Sanchez. To be fair, I was unimpressed that it took him 176 appearances to reach 50 goals.
That said, he's got the talent to hit over 30 if he's starting nearly every match for us, so I expect his goals to appearances ratio to improve dramatically this season.
So did Ronaldo. He played almost all of it on the wing.
I can imagine Martial's smile reading this thread while being compared to Ronaldo. So did Ronaldo.

Check how many wingers in the world have that goal to game ratio of 50 I'm 176. Would also have been disappointed if he was putting those numbers as a striker given how clinical he is. And I'm also willing to bet almost a third or quarter of those appearances were as subtitute given he was never really fancied by Mourinho. To be fair, I was unimpressed that it took him 176 appearances to reach 50 goals.
