He must be kept at all costs. A fresh start under Ole could be good for him.

Almost none of our players put in the workrate of the players at those clubs.
It's a bit weird to me how this performance thread is getting so much traffic after recent games when Martial hasn't played. I could understand it if we had somehow played a lot better without him in the team, but that obviously hasn't happened
He’ll be kept because of his £250k a week wages. We have to take another shot on him because if we offload now we’ll have to accept a very low fee. He could come good still. I can’t see any logical reason to launch him now unless he’s a bad influence in the dressing room.
Because there is a problem in the club with player attitudes and also people are focusing on the style of football we think Ole wants to play. Martial is worth talking about in both those topics.
Everyone could argue about Rashford's quality but he plays a very high energy game a lot of the time and you can build on that if you're looking at implementing an aggressive press. That seems to be the way Ole wants to play and it's natural to point out that Martial doesn't seem to fit into that system.

He had a fresh start under Ole when Ole came in
And did quite well.
He's pretty much the only player who didn't have any boost in his performance during the honeymoon period. Scored about 3 goals since Ole got the job.

Again these criticisms can be aimed at a lot of our players. Lukaku for example has almost identical running stats to Martial this season and at the crunch time of the season when our players should have been focusing on getting us into the top 4 he was giving interviews talking about how it was dream to play in Italy. Yet this thread is full of 'Martial is so lazy!', 'If he doesn't want to be here he can leave!' type comments while nobody has posted in Lukaku's thread in a week.
Now I'm sure you are going to say you have the same criticism of Lukaku as you do of Martial but you have to admit the disparity in thread activity is a bit weird given that identical criticisms can be aimed at both players but are seemingly only being focused on one.
Not weird in the slightest. The recent activity in Martial’s thread has been prompted by an asinine social media post from his agency. Had the same thing happened with Lukaku he’d be the main focus of discussion instead.
Not to mention that, for all his flaws, we’ve seen visible effort from Lukaku in recent weeks. The exact opposite to what we’ve seen from Martial over the same period of time.
So a player can't have performed well unless he has scored goals in that period ? (You don't have to answer that, please don't answer that)
People are always looking for the worst possible reasons for things going badly.
Players have been pushed too hard too soon, Ole has admitted as much, it's hardly a surprise that we started struggling with muscle injuries, it's fatigue. There was a big difference in performances after our Dubai trip as well. People prefer to paint a different picture, player x, y, z etc doesn't care, they are trying to get Ole sacked like they got Mourinho sacked, bizarre claim this and bizarre claim that.
Ole and the rest of the team will work hard to make sure that the proper foundations are laid for the 19/20 season, if player x, y or z still sticks out like a sore thumb while the rest are improving, the player will be gone. Though at the moment, there's some pretty decent reasons as to why things have gone badly.
Maybe so. Isn't there different expectations for a winger or striker than say a central midfielder or a fullback? You obviously need to have a look at the stats re relative workrates in our squad.
Does it take into account the position? You would probably need the average number based on position and compare it to that. I think others in the team might be just as lazy, if you compare it to the average in their specific position. Obviously Martial is one of the players that seem unable to get properly motivated and struggles to really push through, which is a problem but I wouldn't go as far as calling him just outright lazy. I don't know, maybe he is, or maybe he is just one of those guys that doesn't run around like he headless chicken when he is confused. Some players do and some players don't when they don't know what to do in the game. The main problem being: too much confusion.https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...thest-missed-most-chances-12-games-statistics
Martial was the 2nd laziest player in the entire league after the first 12 games were completed.
Matic was also among the busiest in 17/18

That was my impression too. Seems a bit over the top.Not really, it was prompted by the video from the warm ups vs Chelsea.

He's shit version of Sane, and Pep's talking about moving him on!He behaves like kwahi leonard but doesn't have half the talent.
Can anyone imagine the likes of guardiola and klopp putting up with his terrible attitude and work rate?
They would have either changed him or he'd be shown the door.
Keano would have murdered him after the warm up fiasco.get rid of him.
Keano would have twatted him on the field.
What happened there?Keano would have murdered him after the warm up fiasco.

Cant say I care in case he is sold
Solskjaer ‘vented his anger’ at the forward in front of the rest of the squad, as the manager has become ‘exasperated’ by his apparent attitude problems.
Martial ‘has been complaining of a bad back’ but that excuse did not suffice for Solskjaer, who ‘turned on’ him after the game.
The 23-year-old has played 12 games since signing a new contract at Old Trafford in January, scoring just two goals and assisting one in that time.
"The warm up fiasco".
I'm pretty sure he's been dealing with a back injury, no? You don't usually warm up with those injuries.
Also, Keane is retired. All this Keano would have done this, that...it's kind of pointless, no?

Well the quotes in the article are from a source, someone who was in the dressing room so take from it what you will.According to who? The media? Yes, they've been a steady source of reliable news all year.
I'm not saying it's impossible that this happened, but it's far more likely that this is all body-language speculation instead of the simpler one that he's hurt and this whole OGS 'turning on' him is a load of nonsense tabloid drama. Whatever gets attention and riles up the mob, I guess.
If he's declared healthy and isn't playing or even on the bench then I'll give this more merit, until then I'm not buying it.

We've got to remember that these guys operate in a multi billion pound industry and have careers that are built upon their attitudes and performances. Making comments publicly can and will destroy someone's career when the fact of the matter is he might not be all those things, he just might not want to play for United anymore and is showing that by downing tools.
There will always be speculation and gossip around certain players but no one is going to come out and publicly tell the world that Martial is a shit show of a person. It's easier to keep the drama to a minimum and simply say 'he's injured, won't play again this season'.
There were a couple of players a few seasons who were 'injured' for a long period of time also, 6 weeks to be exact, Berahino was one of them. Later turns out they had failed a drug test for recreational drug usage and the FA had told the clubs to deal with it however they wanted publicly but the player would be banned for 6 weeks.
If he was injured during the warm up I guess he or his agents would have said something. Their reaction during the shitstorm was to remind us how many goals the guy has scored in the last 4 seasons. The truth is I still have time for Martial but if Ole wants to bin him at some point I have nothing to say. I guess next season is the last chance to step up as we can't change 15 players in one summer, but I have the feeling that he's pending on a thread right now. It's on his hands to revert the situation.

You do realise that saying anything other than this will decrease his resale value also?Agree about the press/media .. news today is that 'Ole has decided to stick with Martial' After the tabloids telling the world last week that he was gone. Click bait.
At Ole's press conference last week - he clearly stated that Martial had not trained that week as he was injured still. He stated he had lots of goals in him and that he would be back scoring lots of goals for us in the future. That the coaching team needed to help him do that.'

It does, but telling the world he doesn't have a future here and you're looking to sell means the bids your getting will only meet the his contract valuation.I think the 5 year contract probably protects the resale value more than the words.

I think Martial will be staying this summer due to the new contract, but I do expect one of him, Pogba or Lukaku to leave in this window coming up.Sure but it also could just mean what it is suppose to mean and he is staying. Interestingly though Ole said that the club needed to do more to help him get back his form. Martial has been complaining of knee pain again which seems to be an ongoing theme. It was also an issue in 2016 and at the beginning of this season he was unable to play 2 games a week and had to be carefully managed.
Equally there could be an underlying problem that they don't want to broadcast until they can see if they can fix it.
Don't you remember poor old Kieran Richardson getting slated for his performances - he kept complaining of a bad back - turned out he had a hairline fracture.
So I much rather wait and see what happens over the next couple of months rather than write the guy off.
