Yep, absolutely insane management it has to be said. Martial can be our biggest player if Jose would just let him loose.
And yet he put in two great crosses from wide that led to goals
He should be allowed to float a bit, his crossing is good, his dribbling is amazing, and he actually does well at playmaking in more central areas too. I agree that Martial and Rashford should both play at the same time, Mata hasn't contributed hugely this season and Martial and Rashford have both earned starting spots

it is the best method of shooting pens if you master it. Otherwise you have to be super precise, which is harder to do and relies more on luck sometimes if you hit the post for example.
That method of penalty taking is great until somebody saves one. Was it Benteke who missed one and then lost all confidence? It really shook him up and eventually he lost the responsibility.
The takeaway is that he's creating chances at will, I wouldn't worry about the exact number. On another day the defender cleared the 2nd cross as he should but Lukaku and Lingard scored their 1on1 and Martial ended up with 4 assists instead of 3.
One concerning thing though is that he's missed his last 2 1on1 in open play. Should definitely try to mix it up with his finishing a bit.
Disagree. Mbappe put in a brilliant performance against Bayern tonight, Martial to my recollection is still awaiting a performance like that against a top side. Not to mention he's 3 years younger.

Excellent again today. The character he is showing to turn out these performances is great to see. I don't think many would blame him if he had a bit of a sulk considering the managers apparent lack of faith in him.
Would love to see him make more runs off the ball. It's the one area I could see him improving on, which would move him from world class talent, to world class player. He always wants it to feet. If only he worked the fullback more by trying to run behind without the ball, or showing short and spinning to get behind. Would add more unpredictability.

I'm not worried about his finishing. I think their GK had an outstanding game today despite conceding 4 goals. He saved 3 perfect goal scoring chances today.

I'd play Martial, Lukaku, Rashford up front and platoon Mata/Mkhi in the #10 position.

Thinking about it, he's been really productive to Mourinho, which makes this even more bizarre how he's not a favorite of his. What manager wouldn't love a productive playe?
I think at some point Mourinho would have to make peace with the fact that it's actually better to have your attacking player be good offensively and put in numbers rather than being workhorse without much end products.

Haha that does look hypocritical. But everyone seems to constantly compare the two, when both have different traits that are better. We should just enjoy having two supremely talented young players.
I agree, Hazard does the same and his almost never get saved. Martial looks like he really knows what he's doing from the spot and I'd be quite happy with him being our designated penalty taker when he's on the pitch.
Some good sub appearances but still looked passive the couple of times he started until tonight when he got stuck in.
Of course they're going to be compared constantly when it is a case that most of the time only one of them will start. Apart from Maradona, I don't think anyone dislikes Rashford and are just frustrated that it is a case of one or the other who plays in the league.
Best way of enjoying them would be to see them play together, wouldn't you agree?
Dembele's injury and Coman's lack of form may have opened the door for him in the next international break. Impress then, and carry on this season the way he's playing now, and I think he'd certainly be on the plane to Russia at the very least.
I don't get how people still believe this, especially after Mourinho has come out and praised Martial twice already this season. The Mourinho doesn't like Martial narrative is a completely constructed one.
