If he can score without having a good match then this is a sign of serious progress. Attackers live and die by their numbers.
Improved after he scored, before that was sloppy. But a tremendous talent that you really have to persist with because he can score out of nothing, create out of nothing and is ridiculously productive this season.

I don’t understand why people are so hard on him. Carragher and Nev are being pretty critical and saying Mourinho is ready to get him out the team for Sanchez because he’s not quite at the top level. Sanchez was at Udinese, Neymar was at Santos at the same age.

Always has been to be honest! Even last year, in a poor season by his standards, his goals/assists taking into account his minutes played actually weren’t bad. Exceptional player.

Neville has especially been over critical of Martial no matter what he does. I remember he still found ways to be on Martial's case after he scored us the winner against Spurs at OT this season.

The only thing I agreed with Neville about was that Martial needs to tap into that extra 5% that everybody knows is there. I have no doubt it will happen for him. But just because it's not there yet (even though he's still being productive), doesn't mean that you should cast him aside. He's not a liability on the pitch, so give him his chances.

He had a bad 25 mins and some people talk about a bad game. He was outstanding, even besides the goal and assist he created a lot of dangerous situations. Almost beggars belief how quickly some posters are to talk shit about our own players.

I beg to differ. Without even bringing his injury scare pre match as a mitigating factor, I maintain the view that outside of about 25 mins he was pretty great. Could have had 3 goals with better luck with passes and a better finish.
He’s an attacker, he creates and scores, what more do people want? It’s a sad testament to some of the demands on here when after a game like this you have several posters popping up with «didn’t track back enough». I didn’t even think he was so bad wrt that area either.

If he can add that extra 5% to his game like Gary was suggesting tonight he'll be unstoppable. I think the criticism of him by pundits is way over the top and if he was english he'd be lauded heavily. However, I do think he's definitely got more room to grow and push himself even more in games.

He's doing a lot more than other players in top teams. Not really sure you can put down a performance that includes a goal and an assist. Football is about definite outcomes.
I mean if that's what you think is a great performance, what can I really tell you? I'm not here to criticise Martial but you cant get upset when people want more from him when you are trying to call that an outstanding performance.
