Neville can be a real idiot.

There's 3 add-ons at €10m a piece. We've paid one or two of them already. Not the one rumored to be contingent on Ballon d'Or shortlisting (not winning it) obviously.

Or just forget about flipping Perisic...! What we really need is a RW.

Thanks! I thought one of the clauses was somewhat difficult to fulfill. So Gary is mistaken, and an idiot! I couldn’t agree more with the bolded part.

What a pathetic point of view from Neville.

Martial is the better player and is worth £60m more, if we use Neville's basic view of comparison.
I remember Neville being one of those moron who were quick to bash Martial, no wonder he felt like the tweet was personally adressed to him and felt the need to say something stupid.

Though the other Neville brother is the one that does my head over Martial. Phil is even quicker to jump on Martial than his brother whenever I've heard him analyse hin at half or full time. And he's an hypocrite because he's always quick to come up with excuses as to have patience with Rashford, bring in his age and all sort of excuses to point out that Rashford is underrated.

Half time against Everton he was all over Martial, pointing out how he's failed to lead the line and could hardly compliment the kid at full time after his brilliant goal. He probably wanted Rashford to have been played as a striker instead of Martial that day in the absence of Lukaku.

Just getting sick of retired united players piping up with their fecking antagonistic opinions. Do they miss the limelight so much? Love Martial, feck this bs about his cost.

Agreed! Also, like whatwha explained, it’s not even the correct number, which I’m sure Neville knows.

Best thing happened to him - us not signing Perisic.

Thank you Inter for your high demands:)

Not important, obviously, but I didn’t know we had paid all the add-ons. In which case, Martial has been a clear success. I’m getting really tired of the Neville brothers high pitched shrill voices.
This is what pissing me off about that tweet. Neville is sounding like bitter rivals who exaggerated the price of a player we bought in order to suit their arguments.

One would expect a rival fan to throw around a huge sum and stick it as the price we bought our players because of agendas. Seeing Neville acting similarly because he wants to back up his already ridiculous argument is sad.

Gary Neville is a proper yer da. This is one reason we should we wary of ex-players angling for the United manager's job, too much of this going around.

Lucky that Martial is immune to criticism from the press or club legends. Jose seems to be on his side now as well, so lots of support for him.

I might be wrong, but I thought Rashford and Lingard spent more time as the central forward in that first half than Martial, so unless Phil had access to our tactics it’s a strange thing to «get» him on.

Yup, I even managed to get a close friend who’s an avid Liverpool fan to stop that nonsense! :wenger:

Neville can be an odd bloke sometimes. He used to criticise De Gea as well, whilst keeping his mouth shut with regards to Joe Hart. SAF shut him down with a caustic remark.

As for not criticising Rash, how is that going to help his development? Constructive criticism is good for the lad and Martial. Otherwise they will never improve.

Another reason I don't want the Co92 anywhere near United. Not very intelligent and come across as a bit xenophobic.

What stupid stuff by Neville. So the fact United didn't buy Marcus means he's immune to criticism?

G.Nev going to want a do over on that. This is why I don't do twatter. Imagine posting something stupid, realising it's stupid but not being able to backtrack from it

Didn't say a word when Rooney was stinking out the place on £300,000 per week. 'Silent domination' and all that crap is all Neville would say about him.

Too biased for fecks sakes, and totally unprofessional in a job where you should be impartial.

Martial this season has improved a lot, he's seeing the bigger picture this season. At this vital moment when he's reaching the prime, it's important to tie him to a longer contract before other teams comes prying.

Why do we even need to belittle or criticise either of Martial and Rashford? Can we not just simply put our faith in them, support them and wish both can reach their potential top level abilities?

I don't understand Neville's point of view, but I also don't understand many of our fans who seemingly want to pick a side in a non-existing confrontation of two of our own players, who could provide us with 10 years proper service to the club.

Fergie in his first biography after retirement basically said that Neville loves the sound of his own voice but most of it guffs.

After the De Gea/Hart debacle and Rooney's 'silent domination', he's the least qualified to offer an opinion on our players when it involves English-ness.

Gary Neville has proven his bias towards English players for years. Don't think he criticised Rooney once despite him being on 300 grand a week and turning in awful performances week after week.

Neville is an absolute twat of the highest order to be honest. I mentioned it in another thread too yesterday .

He hasn't a leg to stand on having failed so miserably at Valencia just proved he is talking nonsense and goes out of his way to prove bi-partisan.

Also where did this 60m come from?? Completely non factual to prove his own agenda. The exact thing he was complaining about the written press about.

36m up from then 3 clauses of 7.5

If he gets 25 French caps by 2019
If he scores 25 goals
If he wins ballon dor by 2019

So far he has cost us 42.5

42.5 million does not sound bad buisness considering Mbappe at 145 or something and Dembele at 100 million +. Martial is also a similar talent to these two, albeit a bit inconsistent.

He has been saying absolute horseshit ever since the silent domination comments.

No Rashford didn't start that game, it was a front 3 of Lingard, Martial and Mata with Martial playing as the striker.

Martial shouldn't be reaching his prime for another 3- 4 years. Players or most athletes prime for that matter is usually around the age of 25-28. 22 is still too young for a football player to be reaching their prime.

Agreed. Word i should've used is consistent.

Neville defending an English player that is clearly playing worse than a foreign player. What's new?

There was nothing wrong with what he said. It was very insightful in fact. It fits the anti Rooney brigade's story here so I can see why people love to laugh at it.
Not sure if serious.

I'm the last one to be called an anti Rooney poster but it was in fact laughable.

The class of 92 are annoying.

Great players under SAF...and surrounded by even better players! (Scholes excluded) But now they are just pundits with failed managerial careers.

In every team, every player will be surrounded by a better player except for the best player. senseless logic. Also, only G.Neville failed at a short stint in Valencia.

It's just the cool and in thing to do nowadays to bash on the class of '92 and look at them as old dinosaurs with no relevance.

You tell me. You found it insightful.

I don't find it laughable. What do you want me to explain? It was pretty obvious: Rooney has been criticized for ball chasing quite a bit - dropping into midfield, running all over the pitch. He was coming at an age where that wasn't feasible and also wasn't part of LVG's plans of possession based football.

You see a marked difference with how Rooney holds his position and doesn't chase balls he normally would be running around for.

That is what the episode was. Insight on Rooney's play that game.

IMO, Rashford and Martial haven’t even been comparable this season. The latter has been much better. Gary needs to pipe down.

So silent domination was about him not chasing the ball?

Not really. They've had fairly similar seasons so far. Martial is currently in better form though.

Why was the Martial vs Rashford thread closed? Sure hasn't stopped comparisons.

It's a major part of the Neville's punditry how they come off as more pro English than anything club related.

They clearly pick out a non English player before any gave and then go over board on criticising that player for every single thing they do
