He’s just a better version of Memphis Depay. Another Van Gaal player that doesn’t fit into the mold of a Manchester United player.
People hype him up cause he had a Ballon d’Or clause in his contract so they think that means he’ll definitely win it someday. I think that’s fecking laughable.
He’s scored a few goals for us but for all the hype he gets, you expect more from him. He isn’t on the level of Sane, Mbappe, Jesus and others. He just isn’t.
We would be better with someone like Perisic or Mahrez but people wouldn’t be able to look past Mourinho selling a young overhyped player to ensure he wins trophies.

Him in that position you’d normally get the house on it. Was a bad miss for someone who normally looks ice cold in front of goal. Been decent today and even trying to run inbehind more often. Has looked a little frustrated at times as he has made runs in to space and not recieved the ball on a few occasions.
Ok this I dont get, he has been poor in long stretches in this game and when you get something like this chance you have to bury it.. Why players like Lingard and others get hammered here Martial gets treated like some sort of magical Maestro. If this was Lingard who did this the scenes would be different..
This game. The one where he's been a threat all game, played good passes, good movement in good positions, created some chances. If he scored that he would've been in with a shot to be motm so far, but it was a bad miss instead.
Also there, made the free kick to lead to the goal. Has been a bit inconsistent but overall pretty good.
Not really, misses happen. Hes hardly been poor in long stretches, Mourinho would've taken him off by now if that was the case. Has been a threat but also had some inconsistent momentsmoments, true, But for the most part has played it smartly, hasn't given it away cheaply at all, etc. Some wrong decisions, mostly good though. Like I said, that chance was pretty much the difference between a 6.5/10 performance til then and and a 8/10 or 8.5. 1 miss doesn't make it shit, he just missed. Move on.
The blind favouritism for Martial on here reminds me of the Welbeck days when nobody on here would hear a bad word about him despite him being fecking shite.

His turn and 1-2 for the freekick for the goal was very good. He's a striker. He's most comfortable in the middle.
Wouldn't call it a good game or a bad game really. Did some stuff, not much notable (apart from the obvious).
His first touch and his give and go game was very strong and even his tracking back was good. If he had buried his chance we'd be summing it up as an very good performance. Without it, I'd say he's done decently well. He seems to have good chemistry with Lukaku.

Thought he was poor tbh, cutting inside into no mans land and long shots that kept hitting the first man. Expect more from a talent like him.

Thing about him is he is dramatically better than he was last year, yet he is still nowhere near where he should be sometimes.
Where does this he’s better as a striker come from? He’s a wide forward all day long.

Surprised people are so critical of him after this match. I thought he did quite well in a Hazard kind of role; pretty much everything we did in an attacking sense in the first half went through him. He didn't go blazing past defenders constantly, but he was moving in and out keeping us constantly on the front foot with good little passes and clever runs.

Miss was unforgivable really. As were the Rashford and Lingard misses. So surprising, as he's usually ice cold in those situations.
A Mourinho 'wide forward' spends too much time in their own half. I'm not criticising that. He's succeeded because of that.
I don't want Martial there. He's better in attack, closer to the goal.
Martial playing badly is still endurable or manageable. Rashford plays like he's drunk or something when out of form.
Was slightly better 2nd half, but i see no world class potential in him. I see nothing that many other wingers don't do at other clubs, that players like Ashley Young didn't do at 22 years of age.
Today he constantly received the ball in dangerous positions.
