"...tending a consolation. Martial looked back...." I must confess at this point in the post I broke down and wept. The description of how human emotion can overcome a not even slightly controversial substitution was devastating.

Martial was strong.

So strong.

For a guy who can run so quickly, he slows the game too much at times. Feels like watching Valencia when he reaches the opponent's pen box and just stops and goes back instead of taking it into stride.

It's a great improvement. He, Rashford and Lingard are destroying their stats from last season: last year they got 24 goals, 19 assists between them, this year 21 and 18 already. Says a lot about last season but what a difference.

It is. I'm not what you call a fanboy (girl) but just love our players doing well and improving.

He's okay with the substitution, at least with Jose. When he was just off the pitch, the manager walked towards him tending a consolation, Martial looked back, shook Jose's hands with his right hand also a left-handed gentle touch around the Portuguese's waist. It's not a gesture of angriness

Only saw highlights but looked very good. The assist was lovely

There was talk about them casting their beady eyes on him and wanting to get their grubby mitts on him for a derisory £80m in the summer.
Talk? From The Sun or some shit? Or something reliable?

See noone mentioning it but didn't he also put Lingard through for the one on one cech saved and bounced to the post in the second half?

Some of the posts during the start of the season are hilarious. Not this is what, his 5th consecutive start?

I'm sure they'll come up with some reason, probably discount it because Jose was forced to select him due to good form

Didn't know that until now. Amazing stats! Exciting times ahead.

Martial drifts though, I can see him in a free role playing between Delph and the CB. Like a CF but slightly wider.
He won't play down Walkers side because he hasn't the legs to get back imo. I can see Lukaku taking that on
He did an absolute job on Walker last year against Spurs. People said he played rubbish but really it was just because he was doing the dirty side of the game.

Nice through ball. Also his tap-in was unluckily blocked by Monreal. I think if he had scored that goal - a big goal in a big game when starting, Jose would have been sticking permanently with the front two Martial - Lukaku throughout the rest of this season no matter what happens.

But still okay since he made a fabulous assist and Jose saw it. It guaranteed Anthony a starting slot vs City, as long as he is still producing (assist/goal or a large number of clear chances vs Basel), Jose has no reason to drop him

Great thing about players with the quality of Martial is they can hurt the opposition at any moment. Direct contributions to 15 goals this season, some in games where he has not played that well, is testament to this.
