Well "many stinkers", he finished topscorer in the championship, and was voted best player. Many stinkers seems a slight exaggeration.Griezmann himself has had many stinkers of his own, including his latest appearance.

I thought we were talking about the NT which like everyone else in that French squad has had good and bad games.Well "many stinkers", he finished topscorer in the championship, and was voted best player. Many stinkers seems a slight exaggeration.
His first match was poor, got benches, scored as a sub, quiet match vs Switzerland, scored 5 in the following matches, and then lost to Portugal, a match that could have went up either way. I personally wouldnt classify that as many stinkers.I thought we were talking about the NT which like everyone else in that French squad has had good and bad games.
And regardless of him ending up top scorer, it still doesn't change the fact he had his fair share of bad games. Heck he even got benched in the Euro along with some other players who underperformed in their previous game.
There is also the matter that he didn't turn up for the final along with that entire French team.
I dont put them alongside Griezmann tbh, but Lacazette is a top class striker and Dembele at least as talented as Martial, playing for a very good team in a strong competition. He isnt a striker though.
And rightly so because his time to possibly change positions hasn't arrived yet. Still has to learn a lot.I've always had some doubts on Lacazette, I just look at Ligue 1 and think it's so hit and miss. Given the money EPL teams have, the amount of times he has been linked with guys like Arsenal you wonder why no-one has ever offered enough money to get him.
I rate Dembele highly as well, apparently PSG are going after him which would be a shame because he defo could get a top club in EPL/La Liga
For me Martial is unique in that, despite his age, he so strong as well as fast and good technically. If he gets the right coaching and has the right attitude he will be a great all round striker - which is very rare. Seems most people want to see him continue on the LW for now.

Can't say I'm bothered if he doesn't play for France, as long as he does the business in a United shirt that's all that counts.
Yep, Ousmane has fantastic raw ability, but he could quite easily turn into the next Nani too, nothing is set in stone. When I look at Dembélé (Ousmane) and Martial, I think Ousmane is more talented but that means feck all in terms of who will become the better in the end. Ousmane seems to have a bigger variety to his game already (not to mention being the most two footed player I have ever seen).
With players this young our judgment is mostly a matter of personal preference because it’s almost impossible to say who will be a star and who will be the next Ballotelli or the next Pato. Personally I think Martial is a bit like Ronaldo, with the right manager he has the highest ceiling of all those Youngsters in France. With the wrong manager, he can be a wasted talent.
Dembele is number two for me although to be honest I haven’t really watched Fekir.
One player I have tried watching is Coman. He is very overrated on this forum. He works hard but talent wise his ceiling is very low for me. Same as Sanchez (the Portuguese one)
What do you mean by so hit and miss?
Edit: You are both talking about a different Dembélé.
Imagine being undecided over a 21 yr old notching up 17 goals in his debut season....My thoughts exactly LOL. I have little interest in internation football.
With regards to Martial's ability/skill, I can see a lot of posters are overly defensive about him, for some reason.
If he is any good and last season was not a one season wonder, then he will come good. If you believe he is a great player, then relax.
Given his dramatic loss of form over the Summer, I am undecided over him.
He was certainly our best attacker last season, but last season, our attack was average/poor. Some blame LVG for this. On the other hand he is young.
Considering all of the above, I am undecided about him.
Haha I just noticed this - I rate both highly although fair to say Dortmund is a big step up from Celtic!
Hit & Miss in that there seem to be a lot more players who comes from the French League to the EPL with big reputations and don't live up to the hype and it is just a generally weaker league than many other European competitions.
Imagine being undecided over a 21 yr old notching up 17 goals in his debut season....
Love it
What's that about?
Why don't you go wum on a Barcelona forum instead? His career has taken a leap in terms of playing time, which led to more productivity. But he's the same player mostly to when he left Monaco. I knew he was going to blow up the season Monaco had him inked in as the starting CF. Man Utd just came in and took him away after seeing how good he looked in preseason and champion's league qualifying games.
Man Utd is just far more visible and hyped, obviously, so very few were aware of him when he was at Monaco.
I actually think that, in terms of holdup play and movement, he's regressed because he's playing wide. It's been 90% talent and beating his man at Man Utd with some linkup sprayed in there. At Monaco, it was about holdup play, movement, linkup and getting open without the ball. His dribbling was a given. They were forcing him to work on getting open without the ball so his movement put defenses on the back foot first.... all the stuff that Valere Germain is doing with far less talent.
A lot of that stuff just hasn't been used at Man Utd and he's lost it imo.
Would you disagree that he looked at his best immediately after joining from Monaco? He certainly didn't get better as the season continued. He became a better defensive winger, that much is true.
That's a bit weird. Thought he was going to be slagging off United fans when I saw the URL.Guess these quotes have not come from Tony himself.

I'd say the Mirror got conned here. I can't see them just blatantly fabricating quotes and not be expected to be found out.Wow I can't believe they just made up all those quotes
I guess I think of people like Falcao, Origi or Cabella.Who for example?

Not to say players like Hazard, Payet or Kante aren't good - IMO Ligue 1 is just weaker and I don't see as many players making it in the PL.
So you have in mind, one player who had a huge injury and wasn't great in ligue 1, one player who won the unofficial worst player of the league award and an average Ligue 1 player?
As for the second sentence, it makes no sense. Ligue 1 is weaker than the PL but it's also the league that provides the most players.
Falcao had an incredible reputation when he came to the EPL... Not sure how the second sentence makes no sense if you have understood it and replied.
Case in point: as you say above, so many players come from Ligue 1 but very few go on to be great in the EPL. I was originally talking about Lacazette and being unconvinced he was world class because playing in a weaker league. I remain unconvinced.
Only by those who were clueless or caught up in the excitement without looking at the context. Falcao was already showing signs of decline at Monaco before getting that horrible knee injury, they tried their best to get him ready for the World Cup but it wasn't enough. By then it was clear that he wasn't gonna be the same player he used to be at his best.
It is impossible to make conclusion about Ligue 1 players performing well or bad in England because there are many examples of ordinary players there who have exceeded expectations in the PL. There are no guarantees of success nor failure.
How good was Falcao after injury last season?
You mean since he got back in the preason right ? He's been alright, scored 2 goals in 3 matches at Monaco. His movement and athleticism are still very good. He hasn't hit the same numbers of Ibra last season because his team just doesn't create that many opportunities (still scored 11 goals in 19 matches).
That's what worries with him at Utd, if we don't provide him with chances, it'll be a pointless signing but if we get better as a team and attacking unit, he'll score loads without a doubt.
Saying that he isn't world class anymore is highly premature and borderline stupid. Let's just wait a little.
You said this just before we signed him
I grant you that you weren't that interested in signing him though.
Good for you for having the guts to admit it. Most people would have gone MIAI looked for that quote before I posted and yes I was among the people who clueless and blinded by excitment. I have no shame admitting when I'm wrong

Not even on the bench? The feck ?
