Looks dangerous in this position - definitely where he should be long term but right now he looks so devoid of confidence.

If I was his agent I'd want him to go to another club and ensure he's played as a CF and let him develop in that role.

I just can't see him thriving under Jose.
 
I don't know what he's expected to do when he's our sole attacking outlet with no support. Not only that, we've barely strayed into the Spurs box.
 
Another terrible performance. Jose has given him his chances and he hasn't taken them. So fed up with him. Wouldn't bat an eye if he was sold on June 1st.
 
No support for the lad today, no wonder he looks frustrated. Can't believe some posters blaming him - totally Jose's fault for imo. Anyway, what can we do.. it is what it is..
 
I don't care if he makes mistakes but he has been nearly as unexciting as Lingard for most of the second half of the season. There is nothing there, no amazing dribbling moments, no moments of wow like last season... things that give the supporter hope and forgive him his mistakes.

The lack of danger coming from him, the lack of flair. That is the most worrying here. Not him losing the ball 3 times in a row.
 
My trouble with criticising Martial is that if he was in this Spurs side he'd be one of the best players in the league. People keep mentioning not caring if he's sold but he's a player that I see being very successful elsewhere.

It's almost like historically young players widely spiral out of form and require time, positive support, and trust from their manager to propel themselves back into form!
 
Of course Martial cares! People forget what he did last season. All of our attackers don't look good. It's down to the coaching and tactics.
I'm not having a go at Jose, but this a valid criticism of his methods in this respect. He has to change that!

He looks like a striker who has been played out of position for over a year then been thrown back up front and told to perform, oh wait thats exactly whats happened, he's been shite and will need to work hard to add to his game otherwise I fear Jose will turf him out. So much potential going to waste
 
he's been good considering most of the team can't be bothered. cut in dangerously twice, his shots were our most dangerous attacks, and now created the goal
 
He clearly thrives off being the main man, he likes the responsibility it seems.
 
For me he needs to stay LW.

He's far better at picking the ball up out wide and running at the fullback, instead of playing central with his back to goal.
 
Hope Jose appreciates the boy's effort. He needs some confidence.

Martial LW and Rashford upfront, it's as simple as that.

He's been good today. Still has that calm swagger (Berbatov like) that will always make it seem like he's not working as hard as someone like Rashford. But when it's mattered he's pressed well and driven with the ball with more purpose than in past games.
 
That's what happens when you go on the outside for a change. I feel he is to predictable, always going inside and shooting in the far corner.

They were playing well together last season... I thought we could have continued that...
 
He just needs time to grow into that position. I'd love to see him continue at LW with a regular partner behind him at LB.
 
Good performance today. Unlucky with the 2 efforts just going wide but did well & has been better when moved to the left.

Should start the EL final instead of Lingard. Won't though.

Everybody can see that except Jose.... anyway, he needs to keep working hard in the next game as well and maybe try and change Jose's mind..
 
A lot of pointless moaning in this thread. He's had two very good efforts today and gotten an assist in what hasn't been a very good team performance with a lot of first choice players out.
