Been brilliant all half. He's a special talent and Mourinho needs to have faith and patience. Should start every game.

I'd play him through the middle and keep Rashford out wide.
He has that bit more composure in front of goal

Pretty sure he's got more goals/assists than rashers this season.
He did until the last few games when he was left out of squad/benched and Rashford had a run of starts and scored a few. Rashford currently on 10 goals, 5 assists and with the goal today Martial is on 8 goals, 6 assists though has played 500+ minutes less.

He absolutely does not. If you think he has then you haven't seen enough of Luis Ronaldo.
He might not reach the levels, but is it only me that sees the similarities?
So basically he has the potential to become the best striker ever? No hype or pressure at all.
I just think he's potentially a world class striker. He's definitely not ever going to become a world class winger.

Why not play them put through the centre?
Who could we play on the left? Rooney? All of our strikers would be on the pitch at once, they'd be out on their feet by mid May!
We also need options to rotate and an extra body in midfield to protect Blind at CB, 2 up top is out of the window imo

Good to see him looking sharp and being direct. Promising half from him. He's going to be so important in the run in.

Back to the Martial we first signed today. Looks so much like his old self, strong and fighting with defenders, turning them and running.

Great run and finish for his goal, really pleased for him.

That's more like it. Performances like that and we wouldn't be having any negative conversations about him.

Facing a really physical battle against than defense today. Lost a couple of duels early on, but he's been good since. Works hard, beautiful goal and work for Rooney's goal.

Fantastic half from Martial. Best I've seen him play in ages. Great news for United, and delighted for him. Chasing everything, making runs, and showing quality on the ball. Loving it. As someone said, the cheer for that goal was bigger than usual - I just love those pacy counter attack goals.

Very good half from him. Looked sharp after his goal and hopefully he will be back to his best, can do wonders in the remaining games.

He is brilliant today and hope he will get more chances from now on and keep improving.

Hope he doesn't end up like Nani who just lack a little bit of something (maybe mental strength) to be a truly world class player for us.

A good game without sprinting around like a madman and making weird facial expressions. Happy for him.

When he gets into his stride, he's impossible to catch, and we saw that for the goal. Great drive through the middle of the park and great finish when he got it back.

Looked very good today. Quality goal and nice work for our second too. Weird given apparently all he ever does on the pitch is stand still.

Which is the saddest part of all of this, I don't expect anything of him today.

Desperate for him to prove me wrong.
And he has. I don't get why people go to such extremes regarding young players. When they don't do well they turn into these abysmal no hope versions of themselves not to mention lazy and completely disinterested.

People need to calm down. Young players go through inconsistent phases. Rashford has been bang average for much of this season. Mbappe could have a bad year if he doesn't click immediately with a future manager.

He's been more aggressive, making more runs. Jose is getting exactly what he wants out of him.

My theory is that Martial has been effected more by Zlatans arrival than anyone else, as it reduced him from his main man status last year to a side man.

I think he could play in the narrow left wing role Rooney is playing today, with Rashford up top. Especially when Shaw is playing and can make more attacking runs wide.

Not watching the match - but great to see he is doing well. With rashford and martial you're future is bright up front - I agree with others above that 2 up front might make sense...

A front four of Rashford, Martial, Griezmann and Mhki all in top form would be orgasmic.

Been doing some googling and discovered an article in the S*n from last October which compares the Liverpool and United team in terms of distances covered. We do really badly, needless to say. Fellaini is the only United player who makes their XI.

What's really interesting, though, is this bit.

That's interesting, for two reasons. First of all because Martial's effort at that point in the season was fecking diabolical but also because both him and Lingard have increased their efforts by an additional 4km/game between then and now, to 9.16 and 12.04 km/game respectively. Which is, at least, encouraging.
Last week an article suggested we run the least in the entire league and Burnley, one of the highest, so we will struggle today.

Be extremely lightweight defensively on that side so we're more likely to see Darmian behind Martial or Rashford. Lingard on that side might see Shaw come in though.

What do people expect from him? To run past 3 players and score a wonder goal? Thought he done a decent job of holding up the play on the left and laying it off when that was the exact thing we needed. Few long balls he took on the chest and kept possession. He will be fine with Ibra out and Rashford through the middle he will come into his own :)

The last game I was able to attend he started on the left V Watford with Mikhi in the number 10 role and we were brilliant.. HE was brilliant
Well, he certainly is capable of that. Lol

He needs to play. Should let him and Rashford share the CF-LW positions and have them exchanging positions every now and then during games.

Been excellent today. Great to watch. He's also built like a shithouse now. If they're patient with him he could be the best player in the league, possibly next season.

What I don't get is why he has games where he won't run into space, especially when he's on the wing. When he's through the centre he drops off comes both sides and ghosts into the box as well.

Like the idea of him and MR swapping between left wing and centre forward.

Been drooling all over the place and his dribbling is causing problems.
