He was walking at times when the ball came to him esp second half. Was weird esp when we needed the tempo increased. I did feel a little sorry for him because I would have liked to have seen him still on with Pogba and Zlatan on the pitch.

I do agree that Darmian behind him doesnt help at all. He seems to play better with Blind there, its like an assurance for him.
I wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt start the final next week though.

He needs to be more mobile to receive more passes, it's that simple. Not news though, his off the ball movement is rightly highlighted as his main (and probably the only glaring one) weakness.

Playing with Darmian doesn't help, of course, but he needs to up his game

Would be silly to drop him due to one quiet game. Don't think it'll happen.

I would actually play him tomorrow, not the full 90 mins but for a good majority in order to keep his rhythm up for the final.

We will probably get pushed back as they try to get back in it. That means a lot of counter opportunities for us and Martial should be ideal in that kind of game.

But is that a lot?

11 Feb, against Watford: 80 min
16 Feb, against St. Etienne: 85 min
19 Feb, against Blackburn: 62 min
His work rate was very high in those two games. Much more than he's accustomed to could have played a role.

Let's hope that Martial can score against them, just like when he was at Monaco:

Martial still needs to improve his endurance to support his playing style. well, he said about it himself in an interview if I'm not wrong. hopefully under Jose he can be better.

Agreed, he needs to work on his stamina. He played a bit like Messi last season in the way that he would be quiet and sluggish for a lot of the game and come to life as soon as he could smell a goal. Understandable that he had a quiet game against Blackburn as he has really been putting a shift in very recently.

Looks like he's going to start against ASSE since he's doing the presser with Mourinho.

Well, he'll be useful if Mourinho wants to play with counter attacks - Martial and Rashford can have a good day tomorrow...

I didn't think he was anywhere near as bad against Blackburn as some are making out. He was crowded out for most of the game as he had obviously been highlighted as our dangerman. The problem is when you're in this situation as a winger and the rest of the team is moving the ball well or moving off the ball to create space for you then it's a tough game.

He had a few good runs that should have led to more but others messed up. He won't lose his place because of this. He could well be saved for the final now, which is a reasonable move to make, but watch this place meltdown if he doesn't start tomorrow. We should have more than enough to see out a 3 goal lead. We'd probably have lost only 1 game this season if we had a 3 goal lead from kick off, and St Etienne aren't great.

Hopefully he can show tomorrow, why he needs to start against Southampton.

Martial on his #MUFC future: "I love Manchester, I love the club, I love the fans. I want to stay as long as possible at this club"

On another note, will be his fourth start in a row for the first time this season.
Is he slowly winning Mourinho's confidence?

But will he be able to play the final on Sunday? That's 4 games in a short space of time and given his playing time this season he's not quite used to playing this much.

How quickly we've gone from not playing enough to playing too much. I think he will play about 60 against st. Etienne, we need to get a goal in the first half to kill the tie so we will have at least three out of the front four as our strongest attackers.

Against Blackburn I noticed his workrate dropped off a bit compared to his 2 previous game which was obviously due to fatigue from playing 3 games in a space of a week or so.

Let's see how he does against ASSE workrate wise.

What did he say?

He said "what's up, trigger?", some are bound to ask the question "too soon?" as it's been barely 3 years since Roger Lloyd Pack's death.

It's a good thing we're not playing Liverpool anytime soon. Beat them and some bitter clown will dig up that video and make it public hoping for a ban.

That's pretty much how they got that Burnley's Gray banned. Those lots are so bitter
