:wenger: Basically the opposite. watch videos of them. Ronaldo was full of dragbacks, flick flaks, step overs etc. Martial sizes his man up, and then kicks it past him and chases. Or he sizes his man up knocks it inside (or feigns), then knocks it past his man and chases. Far Far Far closer to Henry. Y'all must've forgot who Ronaldo was
"I fear not the man who has practised 10,000 kicks once, but the man who has practised one kick 10,000 times".

He may have less tricks, but he's fecking good at what he does.

I agree. I think he is way overhyped. Granted he is only 20, but most of the hype comes from people and media who think of him as a brilliant goalscoring midfielder like Lampard and Gerrard. In truth, he played most games as a roaming second forward with a decent scoring record. Put him in midfield and he struggles against top quality opposition. All being said, i like him as a talent but players like him are difficult to fit in cos they are neither a 10 nor a 9, unless he becomes a Muller.

This is correct. A poor man's David Platt.

Alli, that is.

Perfect summary, when judged as a striker (which he basically is) he is an above average/decent player. People have this idea in their heads that he is a dominating midfielder of the Pogba mould who also scores a load of goals.

Amen. Finally some people seeing things the way they are.

Alli is getting overy hyped because there is this idea about him playing in midfield while banging in the goals. Media coming up with comparisons to the likes of Scholes, Lampard etc and big him up as he turned out to have better goalscoring tally at their respective age.

But that couldn't be further from the truth. Alli is practically a second striker for spurs, if one want to attribute any midfield type of role to him, it's at the very least as a number 10.

He's not a midfield like your Scholes, Pogba etc. Far from it, the guy is a second striker thus his goal tally should be judged accordingly. When seen as a striker his goal tally isn't as ridiculous as the media want to feed people. As a midfielder it's good but he really isn't one, at least not the kind the media are feeding people.

Blackburn 1:2 Man Utd
What a player but it's annoying when he's not given the ball more. Many times this half, a pass to Martial was the easier option. For our most dangerous player, he gets pretty little of the ball.

That pass to Mkhi was class.. I also like it when he uses that outside of the foot pass inwards to the forward. Needs to do that more often.

Needs to get on the ball more and be more decisive in general. To impress Jose his body language needs to be on the ball all game.

I really feel sorry for him when he has to play with someone like Darmian who offers no help whatsoever, and our players generally avoid that side mostly because of Darmian. Still played very well when he had the ball though, our most dangerous player today.

Agreed, hope Shaw comes on for Darmian. Seen Martial playing LB this game way too many times.

Perfectly put. Appears as if the team is purposely avoiding attacking down the left flank when Darmian is there.

We need to get him involved more, he barely seen the ball.

He also needs backed up by a better LB as Darmian offers no support as usual.

Agreed, even Neymar would have a hard time playing with Darmian

Martial has been really good in previous two games, the difference is in previous games, the left back is Blind, simple as that

Wonder if he's lost his place again after that performance. Mourinho can be ruthless at time.

Will wait and see. Mourinho complaint seemed to be about a lack of effort in training. But with the 2nd leg and final so close to each other, he might not have planned to start him anyway.

I think we do a poor job of getting him the ball when he has an opportunity to attack his man. Also could have had an assist today if Mkhi had shot after Martial laid it off to him instead of overcomplicating things.

Wasn't poor. Just didn't see the ball. We kept passing right, to Lingard for some reason.

I think he was poor even when he got on the ball. I'll cut him some slack though, just as I would Rashford.

Spot on.

He lacks a bit of dynamism IMO.

Did not have a good game. Was rightly subbed. Seems to have lost some of his swagger again.

Too pedestrian, too slow. Didn't want to take his man on and drifted centrally far too often.

Seems to me that he was lacking motivation today. Darmian didn't help and he was forced back quite often as a result.

Not his best game but he's looking more confident than a month ago. I reckon/hope he'll be rested Thursday and play Sunday.

Aye, he didn't seem up for it.

He was good when he actually got the ball, but we basically played it down the right for most of the game and with Darmian at LB we seemed to avoid giving the ball to him.

He didn't see alot of the ball and to say he wasn't up for it is very harsh. Feeney (Blackburn's RW) burst a gut to double on him those few occasions he got the ball, and Darmian didn't turn up to relieve him.
So for him to attempt to take players on under those conditions would be foolish and a recipe for a loss of possession.
He waited for the best option and more often than not, a simple pass it was.

I hope to god he isn't dropped for the final after today :(

I don't think he will lost his place again this season. We just have a lot games, and he will be rotated like the rest.

I really think Jose knows he's in his best XI.

He's still a bit inconsistent, but that's normal for a young attacking player. Pretty sure he's going against Saint-Etienne

I thought this was quite noticeable, and not only because the build up was mostly focused on the right hand side. On a few occasions there was space on that left ahead of Darmian, and our midfielders seemed to look at it and decide to go in the other direction.
