Angelo Henriquez

Well, technically, just because we've agreed that we can buy him at any point up to 2014 for 4million Euro doesn't necessarily mean that someone else can't make a bid too. It just means that if we choose to make that 4million Euro bid before 2014 they have to accept; not that he can't go elsewhere too.

I think I'm with Drifter, here.

How are we really going to deploy RvP? I am sure SAF knows, but I'd love to.

An 18 year old with better prospects for the future, whilst presumably Rooney plays up top with Kagawa off him - with Hernandez and Welbeck available - of course, appeals to me more right now.

If it meant investing the rest of the money elsewhere, then I'd definitely be game.

Rather see this happen than R.V.P

Me too. I think in spite of being 18 years old and having never played outside of Chile, and only really having a handful games in the first team for his current side, Angelo Henriquez is already a much better player than last season's top PL scorer.

You know it makes sense.

I think it's pretty obvious he's not saying he thinks Henriquez is better than Van Persie. While I wouldn't mind signing RVP I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if we didn't sign him. Henriquez is a promising player we can get realtively cheaply who won't need to feature in the first team regularly for at least a couple more years. RVP could potentially hold back the development of players in the position, Welbeck in particular. Also there's the question of what kind of formation will we play with the signing of Kagawa.

I'm not mad on us signing a 29 year old for 20 million + with big wages either. I would prefer the money to be spent elsewhere although I realise it's not as simple as that.

Then there's his injury problems to add to that. Having said all that, if Fergie thinks we need him then that'll do me, doesn't mean I wouldn't prefer a different other options personally.

Let's face it - RVP's 176 and gets injured even when he's taking the armband off. All those goals he scored were flukes, obviously. I'd much rather we sign this Angela Henry bloke who I've never seen play, except in Youtube vids with techno-bongo soundtracks. You know it makes sense.

That's bullshit Steve, the oldest recorded person was 122 years old, and you're going to come out with nonsense like that in order to try convince us that signing this lad instead is the right move? Idiot.

this lad reminds me of a quicker Van Nistelroy, as his running style is simialr and he seems a deadly finisher. As competition with Hernandez and Wellbeck for the 3-4 spot would be welcome.

Henriquez is one for the future. Presumably if he's signed right now, he'll be send to Twente to one or two years to develop his game and get more European experience.

I see no harm in this deal, for 3 or 4m we're getting a striker with great potential(according to reports).

Hey, my sources within the squad are impeccable - van Persie is coming to Manchester Rovers; that Japanese bloke Rooney told me this himself.

Fergie obviously thinks the signing of last season's PL top scorer will improve us.

Seems more than a little odd to hope that he fails to sign the player he wants and signs an 18 year old kid (who is probably years off first team football) instead.

Us having the PL top scorer doesn't guarantee success. We already have Berbatov!

For me, it's more to do with money spent (where it could perhaps be invested elsewhere) coupled with the fact that we seem to have goalscorers in our ranks already (so a style issue, perhaps), plus RvP's age and injury record. I know he's quality and I won't be disappointed if he signs.

If I knew we weren't buying anybody else with the money saved for RvP I'd say fine, I'd prefer RvP than to not. Otherwise, I think we could look elsewhere.

For one reason or another, I think Arsenal feel they're better off without him as well. Though there's no guarantee either way.

There's absolutely no guarantees with that, which always colours my opinion on potential transfers like this. We seemed to drop 80m quid down the back of the sofa when Ronaldo got sold, so I've long stopped assuming that money earned/saved on on sale/signing will automatically be invested in another area of the squad. A bird in the hand and all that...

Do you think he will stay at his current club or being loaned out to another? Seeing as we already got plenty of options in attack. Always good to see us sign young players.
