Angelo Henriquez

Sky, ITV as well saying he'd had a medical.

Well. It's a signing. It's also a young, unproven striker. And I've yet to see a white sheet outside the Bridgewater. I'm not convinced.

Surely he'll be loaned out? We've got too many striker at the club for two positions. Even Berbatvov is still here.

One of the articles talked about him being loaned back to UDC. Not sure what the work permit issues are like but I'd much prefer to see him play and adapt to the Premiership

He's 18. He wouldn't get much playing time at United, if at all, and no PL club would loan him and put him straight into their first XI. Give him another year or two and he might be ready.

The lad enjoys his football and he already has, at the age of 18 some good finishing skills, using both feet with good, scoring effect.

United might send him to Twente that they have a partnership with.

Yeah. If he needs to go to Europe 'cause of WP issues, Twente might be a good bet. The best thing for him would probably be to stay put though, as he seems to be coming along brilliantly and growing in influence.

Twente sold De Jong, I just realised. They have bought Bulykin though and have Castaignos.

He just tweeted!

A woman with his last name (imagine it to be his sister, perhaps) said that "if Angelo goes to United you can imagine where my vacation is".

To which Henriquez replied "Don't brag/taunt the "twitteros"".

I'm confused, why give him a medical and then not finish signing him?

I wonder if this will be announced tomorrow during the trading times of the NYSE?

I don't know why people still think he's off to City, we had an agreement with Universidad de Chile for quite a while and it lasts til 2014. City couldn't really do much about it. Anyway, this article stats we're just waiting for a work permit now:

United 1 City 0: Hot-shot Henriquez turns his back on bigger bid by Blues

Fergie's years of work pay off as the teenage Chilean striker sticks to his agreement to move to Old Trafford despite the champions' late interest

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has won a major signing battle with neighbours City by landing Chilean striker Angelo Henriquez.

Ferguson convinced the teenage sensation to join the Reds in whirlwind talks after City made a concerted attempt to hijack the move - as exclusively revealed by MirrorFootball.

The youngster flew into Manchester for a medical after deciding to stick by United - who have had an agreement set up with him for months - despite their 'noisy neighbours' being ready to pay more money.

Sources close to Henriquez revealed his 'heart' is still with United, who have courted him for years - they even had him over for a visit in his early teens - and struck an agreement two months ago, as we revealed in June.

United decided to take up the option with Universidad de Chile to avoid champions City gazumping them and they will now try to secure a work permit for the starlet.

Henriquez lived up to his youthful promise with a burst of goals after he broke into Universidad's first team.

Both the Manchester clubs were camped out to watch him in action at a tournament in Holland over the weekend and the player's agent was due to meet the two sides.

However, Henriquez took the decision out of everyone's hands by heading for Old Trafford immediately.

Good lad.

The lure of playing with Bebe may have proved to strong for him.

:joking:

No idea why but for some reason I love it when we signed unknown players like this rather than spend loads of money on established/well known players.

I wonder how SAF will utilize him this season.

Might be that our negotiators are supposed to have been working on a deal all this eve with the arsenal reps. Also seems like he's well and truly set on coming here so there's no rush get the medical done he can sign the papers anytime.

He'll probably go back on loan to Universidad until January, the second half / tournament of the Chilean league has only recently started so it would makes sense for him to finish his season there then join us in Jan.

Work permit - not that it'll be important right now as I think he'll stay in Chile for a few months, but we still need to make sure he's eligible for one before he signs.

I was under the impression we'd already signed him.

It's getting a bit beyond pathetic now with City swooping in on pretty much every target United got.

If it's true he decided we were the only club he wanted to join that's good to see. Not just for the fact that it's great we were the first choice of a talented South American kid, but also that he told his agent to do what he wanted. There are far to many transfers these days where it seems the player makes the move which will work out best for the agent.
