Finally back in training this week, too bad it's a couple of weeks late for the U17 Euros and a week late to be considered for selection on Sunday. Would've been special to witness his full debut at OT.

Argh, still get him on the bench. Would be quite a statement for his talent!

He's still 16 so I think we have all the time to wait... Hope either Gribbin or DJ will get on the bench on Sunday.

Aye, I know. Just super-wishful thinking! :p Would be nice to see Gribbin and/or Buffonge on the bench, however I think our bench will mostly consist of first team players, as some of them (Pogba & Lingard perhaps) will probably get 20 mins or so.

Gribbin hasn't done anything to suggest he should be anyway near the first team. There's no doubting he has talent but he hasn't stood out in the game I've seen this season, based on what I've seen this season I would be surprised if he made it at OT. I hope I'm wrong and I know he's thought of very highly at OT but he'll have too improve his performances next season.

Well neither have any of the youngsters that are going to play on Sunday apart from Tuanzebe.

I agree, Harrop might keep developing but he's 3 years old than Gribbin. Mitchell is now playing in a new position so its obviously going to take time to adjust to that so I wouldn't write him off but you're right that none of them really warrant a first team call up apart from Tuanzebe.

Tbf to Harrop he has done pretty well without much support but you're right about the rest. At least Gribbin does have the talent too, McTominay and Willock just don't have much in their locker imo and Olosunde has consistently looked shaky defensively.

Harrop always stands out for me. I agree Gribbin hasn't done much as of late but I actually want him to start, though that clearly won't happen. I've liked the look of Mitchell at LB, too. It's hard to judge our U23s as a whole this year as, to put it bluntly, we've been a bit of a mess.

Christ I didn't knew this kid is the son of Gil Gomes, former under 20 World Champion in 1991 in Lisbon, must be related with the time Carlos Queiroz worked with Ferguson, I remember something related to working with Carlos.

Anyway good luck to the kid, unfortunately this one will play for England, but it is fair he probably lived there most of his life, is he the best prospect at United now?

Probably Carlos will be proud if the kid reaches the highest level, if only because Gil was one of his "kids" lets put it this way.

Yes. The best home grown prospect since Morrison. Special talent for sure.

Doing some research it looks Nani also is related to him, anyway let's see if he can fulfill the high expetations around him.

I don't think they're related. Nani's just a very close family friend and/or a godfather to him. That's what I remember reading/seeing somewhere anyway.

I've been watching a lot of the reserves on MUTV and this kid genuinely looks the goods. It will be very interesting to see how he develops, congrats to him on winning the Jimmy Murphy at just 16!

@SCP

Gil was playing non league football in Manchester at the end of his career. He then started working for United I think which would have coincided with when Queiroz joined so you could be right.

Hes not 17 till August he has a good chance of becoming the youngest player to play for Utd.Giggs was 17 and 3 months when he got his debut the current youngest player to play for Utd.

Everytime I've watched the under 18s this kid has been amazing really excited to see how he progresses.

Training with the first team today is pretty cool. Would be great to see him get a go on Sunday.

So he just came back from injury and immediately training with the first team? That's great! It's always scary with injuries to young players, must have come back strong.

Just confirmed that he'll be on the bench atleast.

Jose on Sunday's squad: "Joel and O'Hara. Mitchell. Harrop. Gomes. McTominey. Fosu-Mensah. Axel. Plus 3/4 first-team players to play 1 half"

Just came back to training this week after a lay-off of few weeks, so I think he'll be an unused sub, there's a couple of older lads who are probably above him in the pecking order. Although it'd be sweet to witness his debut, I doubt it'll happen. Either way, great gesture from José, this'll give Angel a huge boost into the summer and start of next season!

Smart move from Jose. Players like Gomes will give the crowd a lift and ensure there's a good atmosphere around the place on Sunday. Doubt he'll get any more than 10 minutes but let's see.

Is that right? Edwards and Whiteside were younger, right?

José will give him some minutes so he can be smug in the post-presser. Youngest Utd player ever in the PL and that. "They say i don't play youth hohoho".

Not sure about that. He would have been captaining England in the final tonight if he went.
Well I said maybe lol. Both would be great experiences. Missing the tournament was a shame but training with the first team and a possible debut is a fantastic alternative.

If I'm being optimistic Angel and O'Connor are going to be stars. Wish he was here to train with the first team too.

I would love to see him get a shot! Very exciting player by all accounts, there's no point in hoarding youth talent and then never playing them. If one or two actually make it into the first team every season or two then you are doing it right.
