Doesn't he already have Rooney's agent?

contract negotiations could be interesting...

I did not know this. Hopefully he doesn't become a teen superstar and washed up early. He sounds like a smashing lad from what I've heard and seen though.

8-1, what a win for England!

This really could be the a great age group for England. It is just a shame that four of that England first eleven play for City.

@Adam-Utd

Over the three games England scored 16 and conceded 1.

They were missing Ryan Sessegnon as well because he's playing for Fulham's first team

Also missing a few others like Ryan's brother, Kirby, Eyoma etc.. This England group is really strong with great depth too. (Can make 2 pretty good teams infact.)

But to be fair, Germany had like 2/3 players only from their starting line up at this level and was bit of a experimental lineup but still quite impressive result.

Very impressive indeed. Are Gomes and Sancho the 2 main stand outs in this England team? Be nice to hear a little more from somebody with some good insight.

Agree with the City part by the way but that doesn't mean alot still a long way to go even at that age and with City's past youth policy they probably won't be with them for long

What's up with that? A 16 year old left back playing in the Championship, scoring 2 goals in 4 matches. Is his twin brother as highly rated?
He's playing left wing for them as far as I know. He can pretty much play anywhere, he won attacker of the tournament and defender of the tournament at 2 tournaments in the space of a few weeks last season. His twin isn't as highly rated but has played for England under 16s but broke his leg last season.

Yeah Oakley Booth who has looked good when I've seen him was missing as well. It's a ridiculously strong age group in terms of depth and they play some great football as well and they seem to have finally realized that it's a bit of a waste using Gomes as a deep midfielder which they were doing last season

Who would you compare Angel Gomes to in terms of playing style?

Hard to compare him to anyone really since he has a lot of different styles rolled into one. Here's a good video of him from last season if you want to have a look

Pep would give the last of his hair to coach a talent like him. I'd love to see what he would do with him out of pure curiosity.

He actually reminds me of Morrison, the way he he just glides on the pitch and the ease with which he has the ball under control. Just a natural.

His close control when moving with the ball is fantastic and he has the low center of gravity which should make up for his lack of size.

Gomes is the captain and plays every game for England. I believe he has been captain for a few age groups so that shows you what the England setup think of him. Sancho is a very exciting player but Rhian Brewster of Liverpool was top scorer at this tournament.

@jb8521 and @khoazany are the guys to ask though, they have much better insight than me.

There's just a ridiculous amount of depth in the team, honestly. Players injured/missing no problem, there are players more than good enough to fill the void. It might be City, but they do have some very good prospects in their team to be honest with you.

Supposedly a good squad for his age group. That and they have quality talents in players like Sancho and Gomes.

One thing I loved about international football was that money meant little and the "big countries" didn't have the same advantages as big clubs. Being from a richer country didn't mean everything because it's all about where you're from.

I am sure they are all English born and bred but there is something that just doesn't seem right about an English "golden generation" comprising of players called Gomes, Sancho and Sessegnon.

Back on topic, Angel Gomes does look a fantastic talent. He looks incredible at under 18 level. It will be really interesting to see how he handles the step up to senior football. I always find it really hard to tell until I see the player actually play at senior level.

What does this even mean? Because from here it just sounds like you're talking rubbish and bordering on bigotry.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of casual racism in the morning.

The world is changing rapidly.
I played in a social game of football down here in NZ a few years ago. Man Utd supporters club v Celtic supporters club. During the game I could hear a couple of Scottish women talking on the sideline with thick Glaswegian accents. I was born in Scotland but we moved to NZ when I was a kid and after the game I looked around to see if I could spot them and sure enough I did. They were Scottish but of Japanese descent. A thousand times more Scottish than me, I have an NZ accent and have spent the majority of my life here and "look" Scottish. (well maybe not that Scottish as Im not a ginger...)

Been trying to find highlights from the Germany vs England game, no success :( @GifLord ?

Croatia Cup: Germany U17 vs England U17 (1-8)

Agreed. It is the nature of the modern world. I don't live in the country I am from and have dual citizenship as do my kids. More and more people have and it will mean that more talented international athletes will choose the bigger/richer country.

Maybe it's all in my head but I really liked the "level playing field" of international football vs mega money club football.

How many players like Angel Gomes (technical creative number 10) have been produced by England and how many players of a similar ilk are produced by Portugal?

He obviously considers himself English, so he should of course play for England but what are the chances of Hungary or Iceland having a Portuguese number 10 that qualifies to play for them? Even if there was one, he'd most likely play for Portugal if he was good enough.

It's like Pacific Island rugby players. They are naturally perfect athletes for the sport and I think it's sad that the best ones play for any country but their own.

I've gone way off topic so I'll leave it at that before I am called a racist bigot again.

Modern world means that race and nationality are not tied together. Not that the brexiteers will ever accept that inevitability.

He was produced by England though since he was born in Enfield and has spent all of his life playing football in England

No, he is English. He's a British citizen, who was born here, spent his whole life here, learnt to play football here, and plays for the English youth sides. The fact that he could have qualified for the Portuguese sides if he wanted to doesn't make him Portuguese.

As for it not being a level playing field, you'll find that less wealthy, less prominent (I can't really say 'smaller' given the English national side's consistent lack of actual achievements) nations are much more likely to field players taking advantage of the eligibility rule than the big, rich ones. Eduardo for Croatia, for example, who was born in Brazil and lived there until the age of (iirc) 12 or 13, and therefore would at least make some sense as a target of your accusation.

But maybe your example of Iceland is more indicative of what you're actually talking about...

14 pages and he hasn't even made his U23s debut
I've usually preferred to watch the u21s (well I guess that depends on the group), but I'm more interested in this u18 side than the u21/u23 side in terms of talents. I think it's the same for a lot on here so there is more discussion with these u18 players right now.

But his father was actually born in Angola and still has a lot of family there so by your own argument should he not be playing for Angola?
