Angel Di Maria

The way Nani has played the last 2 seasons - most decent wingers could replace him. We all know what Nani can do - but it doesn't matter when he never does it on a regular level. Or with Nani I would happy if he did it once in a while...but that hasn't happened.

He wasn't crap all of last season, was he? His inconsistent play has been no more inconsistent than his starts though. Valencia has been crap all season and has been awarded with a multitude of starts, but Nani has not. Then there is the injury record to take into account also. But yes, he hasn't been great as of late. As you said though, we all know what he can do, and would it not be great to get him back into that form?

No he wasn't crap all of last season - just the last 6 months of it. And I agree that it would be nice to get Nani back to his brilliant best - but it just puzzles me that whenever Nani's name comes up it's always "oh he has struggled with injuries" but that same excuse is never used when Valencia or Young is mentioned. They have just been crap apparently.

Well considering he matched Valencia's output last season who most would say had a great season that's simply not true. Nani hasn't hit the heights his talent suggests he could over the last two seasons but he's still producing a good output.

As for Di Maria if we could get him on the cheap it would be cool, personally though i'd rather hope Nani signs on and can start fresh from next season.

Lysglimt seems to be the only person that isn't willing to acknowledge the sheer lack of game time that Nani has had, especially on a consistent basis. At least Nani has only been shit in his sporadic appearances, whilst Valencia and Young have been consistently shit.

I dont see the different between him or Nani in terms of diving, both are serial offenders, the same goes for their consistency.

Both are magic when their are on top of their game but for me Di Maria edges it. Hes naturally left footed, more direct and is a better decision maker.

If Nani were to leave i would be more then happy were he to be replace with Di Maria.

:wenger:

You either rarely watch Nani, or di Maria.

Well, from the top of my head he dived against Chelsea in the FA cup and play acted when he got sent off against real.

Hes no doubt reduced that stuff from his game, though when he first came he was ridiculous and was well on his way to being up with worst i ever seen.

Anyway the main point i am making which has clearly been missed, is signing Di Maria should be on his ability. I am sure SAF was well when aware of Nani's play acting when he signed him as well Ronaldo's and both having curbed that part of their game from their time here, i seen no reason why Di Maria could not do the same.

According to Balague & Twitter, it seems that Gill was in Madrid yesterday talking to Mendes about Maria, so is he any good, will he replace Nani, Young or Valencia or would you rather we went for Bale?

I guess he is better than Pienaar :)

Of course he is. Have not never heard or seen him play? He is better than Valencia and Young. I guess he is on par with Nani. Both of them on their day can be very very good. Di Maria is obviously not as good as Bale but he would definitely be the cheaper option. I always wanted a left footed player playing on the right wing for us and he is one of the best out there today.

Just like our current wingers, he isn't worse than them in terms of "frustration" levels

True. He is a good player. A worthy replacement for Nani. Nonetheless, he will definitely have his very own CAF hate group, what with his diving, greediness and inconsistency.

Not convinced it's a good idea given our record with Argies...

He'll deserve it too. But he's definitely a good player and a straight replacement for Nani if thats what happens. Similarly capable of game winning moments

He is a bit like Nani from what I have seen. Can be the best and the worst player on either day depending on his mood. But saying that, his stats for the past couple of season have been impressive.

Thing I like about him is that he has the flair of Nani combined with the workrate of Valencia.

No telling what sort of motivation the player has because he's pretty inconsistent. When he's motivated, probably the best winger in the game otherwise he's unreliable. Get the impression he's a bit lazy but perhaps Vato has a better feel for that

I wouldnt call him lazy at all. He has a very good workrate and halps his full back out a lot.

Hes a very good player, but as others have said, he's inconsistent. Would be a good addition though.

I absolutely love Di Maria. One of the players I get excited watching. Would love him at OT. He can be frustrating, but none moreso than any other top class winger. I think the position leads to erratic performances. I'd doubt there is anyone who can match him in terms of productivity.

He's better than Young and Valencia that's for sure, probably better than Nani as well but he does seem a bit of twat. Di Maria and Zaha on the wings would be quite exciting though.

No brainer for me if we cant get him. Valencia's been shocking and if Nani's leaving, we need a winger to come in. I just hope that people can learn to live with his mistakes though because like any other flair player, he can be frustrating at times. similar to nani really

The reported fee being branded about is only 15m as well, you wont find anybody of Di Maria's quality for that. It would be a great deal and quite an exciting transfer.

Madrid really match us when it comes to selling players on the cheap. Wont surprise me and it'd be a fecking great deal at 15mil.

Holy shit. If this transfer would be for real I would honestly die. Di Maria is as slippy as an oily fish and yet he can glue a ball to his feet. He's a very rare player to find these days. Sort of like an old school inside forward. £15m?? I would buy his arm for that!

15 mil cant be right. He can be absolutely brilliant on his day. Hardworking as well. Only priblem afaik us his consistency

Yeah like the others have said £15m just cant be right. Are they that desperate to offload him and if they are, then surely a lot of teams would be interested along with us.

His contribution for Madrid has been good as well. His first season he scored 9 and assisted 20. His second season he scored 7 and assisted 16 and this season he has scored 9 and assisted 16.

Its Real we're talking about. They're used to offloading players they dont want without giving a feck about the price. Robben, Sneijder?

I can only access Redcafe, the other footballing websites and twitter are blocked. What's the story? Does it have legs?

Wouldn't be a bad first signing for Moyes, not at all. But does Moyes ever play wingers?

He said this in 2009.

according to an interview with notw, di maria has his heart set on a dream move to old trafford.

He said:

“since i was 13 or 14 years old, i’ve been telling my mother and my father that my dream is to play some day for manchester united.
“and i won’t stop till i get it.

“when i watch [wayne] rooney and all of them on tv, i can’t wait to play there at old trafford.

“when i was a little boy i watched arsenal games as well, but manchester united always dazzled me most.”

Would be an awesome signing at that price. Took me a while to appreciate him and my judgement was probably clouded by him being a bit (massive) of a dickhead. Mourinho really got him running his balls off for the team and he's not afraid to run at players and let a shot off. So he'd probably get branded a greedy foreign cnut here.
