Where did you hear this?
Pretty sure I saw a journalist tweet it, I'll try to find it though I can't remember who it was.
Edit:

While others are also claiming slightly lower initial fee but also the 15m in cuture incentives, but also only about 5m of those being likely to be paid while the full amount is almost impossible. Either way, it'll come out to around 65m like Balague said altogether as we definitely won't be winning 2 champions league titles in the next 5 years. 1 maybe, but not 2.

I think United are big enough to take time to rebuild the right way. It looks like you're following to blueprint of City and Chelsea with the $. Your name is big enough to draw great players without a title or CL football for a bit. Always has been that way. Have faith in your teams history and size to draw players at the price you want pay. I don't think(giant money signings) is the right path.

Thats clearly not true anymore, as proved by the last few years in the transfer market, and the fact we're in this situation in the first place.

We've been missing out on top players for years and years under the Glazers, because we simply haven't been prepared to pay the going rate in fee's and wages, and simply relied on the draw of being Manchester United.

Does the rule of winning the europa league means knocking off the team who finished 4th in the league finished to get the CL spot?

No I don't think so, there is a new place given now for winning it. They only do it in the CL when a team finishes really low in their league, which is very rare. There is no place designated to the CL winners at the start because they have usually already qualified in their domestic league.

I think the fact is there's pressure from our sponsors to do well and if we don't do well we'll sack the manager creating uncertainty, then the next manager has to come in and clean the mess but when more pressure is applied and the next manager doesn't do well it'll end up being a wretched cycle, we need the sponsorship money to stay active and competitive in the transfer market, that doesn't mean constantly pay over the odds for players but so we can actually sign them without a hitch. I think most fans don't really want us to go down the Madrid route of signing huge money players for the sake of it as until recently it yielded no results, but signing them in necessary positions is okay I believe for big money. The issue I'd have is the stability being in tatters and work built up by a previous manager having to be dismantled when a new one comes in, of course I could be wrong and maybe the best way to go would be to take a few years off but I think that would really hurt us, all in my opinion though.

Half assed attempt at someones request, can't remember what thread it was.

Ahh shit...next few days will be raining in Manchester. Bad start to Di Maria's life at United. I am actually more scared of his wag/wife not liking the weather.

75m + 15m add on. Wow that's fecking expensive and our team is still far from complete. If glazers & Fergie had invested wisely in the past, we wouldn't have sunk into this mess

Waiting for this deal to be announced officially. What a boost of confidence this would be for us! Di Maria is just a notch or two below Ronaldo.

We're in a dire state. Its so bad that even this signing won't guarantee us anything. We still need a combative box to box CM

In terms of team play and assists I think it's safe to say it's the same elite level of football.

Name me a big club in the past 5-6 seasons who have used their youth academy or bargain signings as the foundation to propel them into sustained success. Suppose you could say Dortmund but they aren't in the top tier(no disrespect intended). In the modern climate the bigger clubs tend to spend cash more often than not and we have been poorly investing from 08-13 with most of the signings flopping massively. So it's time we spend the cash that we EARNED. So I really don't see the comparisons between us Chelsea and City being valid.

Firstly its United's money and they can spend it however the feck they want, as they are well within the rules of FFP. So it really doesn't make sense to take a few years off to rebuild just because it is the 'right' way to go. Secondly, feck value in the market, feck looking for up and coming players like Zaha, Obertan, Powell, Angelo Henriquez and Bebe and feck resale value, we have the biggest fan-base and the one of the biggest revenue with huge sponsorship deals and it's time we showed it. So if we want to spend we spend. Simple. And its not like one season is indicative of our transfer strategy anyway

Im getting confused with the amounts being touted around. Is it £48m + £15m = £63m? Or £63m + £15m = £78m?

Isn't it 63m pounds plus add-ons? I remember seeing that being reported by multiple sources. Without add-ons it's closer to 52m pounds if I'm not mistaken.

Far too much money for the player if thats the fee. I feel like we are getting screwed over.

I don't actually care to be honest. I'm not paying, rather we remedy us having to watch Valencia and Young every week, for the sake of my eyes if nothing else. It either goes on him or stays in the Glazers pockets. Is it really a problem unless he does a Torres? If he's a success no one will care.

I've never understood why people moan about "paying too much". Who cares? It's not your money that you're spending. In the case of Di Maria it should be completely irrelevant the price we pay because he is such an amazing player.

If we sign this guy, just hope this is not going to be a panic buy again. We need a winger, however we need a centre midfield more than a winger or attackers at the moment.

He plays in central midfield BETTER than he does on the wing.

Yep. Just wrap this up and put him in the squad. Can't wait to see him give Burnley the Di.

I kind of agree, but Madrid had Ronny and Bale on the wings, and we've got shite all, so I think we should play him wide and sign another CM.
I'd rather him central because we just have no drive in there.

I'm not sure if we do to be honest. We have a few great attacking players, but they just don't work without a quick and talented player there who can stretch defences. Januzaj is nowhere near enough for that and you can't use him all the time. Mata, Rooney and RVP are all individually very good players, but the way they play, it just gets crowded in the middle.

It's like 10-15m overpriced, sure. Considering the current state we're in though, and lacking a player like him to give our team some excitement, it's really a signing we just needed to make. Spending so much shouldn't be that big of a worry either, considering he's one of the top 10 players in the world and one of the best wingers in the world.
