This is the biggest overpayment since history along with Luiz imo, di Maria is one hell of a football player but 80 million is just far too much. O well, we need him and we're desperate.
Its not 80mil though is it, its 75mil euros which is what, £58mil or something.

Interested to know how some folk can judge a players worth. It's that stupid thinking, that has put us in this position of needing to buy quality players because we've snubbed players who we said weren't in our valuation. So this 'value' brigade are getting boring and will probably only shut up once they see us improve and the penny drops.

Value is a tiresome notion indeed.

Great to see the Premier League and Manchester United, paying fees comparable with Madrid and Barcelona.

About time really, whether he's worth it or not is a different matter.

So how do we line up with di maria then? who misses out, Our captain, our match winner striker, or our previous record signing.?

I really hope we change to 4-3-3, our current defenders and midfielders are brainless and can't cope with this.

Finally we will have a player, other than Januzaj, who can run at players and dribble well. Our biggest problem is going up against defences where there are 10/11 men behind the ball - Di Maria is very good at breaking them down.

I think today's game shows how much we need a player like him.

Cannot wait until Shaw and Rafael are back too...

Not a single one of you feckwits moaning about the price can give any justification for being bothered about the cost.

Correct.

We need pace - not players standing up against defenders and sideways passing.

Wow my ignore list will get so full if this moaning continues. Fed up of all these people moaning about his price.

Don't care how much we pay, get him in. Anything for a bit of excitement out there is worth it. This is the entertainment business and that was tumescent today.

We've pretty much just given the Ronaldo money back to RM.

I'm glad, if it means one less place in the team for Valencia/ Young.

I can't wait to have our first teamers back.

Valencia & Young both have pace. They don't have the guts to take on the players nor the skill. Di Maria has all 3 attributes.

I think, as Neville said, we've clearly lost our negotiating position, so now it's a case of buying the right players and forgetting the cost. But IMO if the Di Maria deal - which is massive by any standards - stops us from buying a genuinely top class midfielder then that's a perfectly fine justification. No point moaning now, though, as that will only become clear by the end of the window.

Having Di Maria and Januzaj as outlets on the wings instead of players like Young and Valencia will be a god send for our general play.

Really not concerned about the price. The bar is always being raised. Bet people were outraged about the 3,5 mil or whatever United paid for Keane back in the day.

He's absolutely mental for coming here, but I challenge any one of you to tell me why we don't need to spunk big bucks on a player of his quality.

Buying him doesn't stop the intended investments in the other positions required. He's the desired solution for a MASSIVE problem all through the team.

Today showed we lack penetration, a ball carrier and quality delivery. He provides that all day long.

Young and Valencia are also brainless and they always take the worst decision. They pass when they need to cross and cross when they need to pass, you could find more intelligent footballers in a school playground.

When we don't sign a player: feck sake Woodward sign some world class players!
When we do sign a player: feck sake Woodward you're overpaying! He's not the right player!

After watching that load of rubbish today are some people really worrying about the fee? We make more revenue than anyone else so we are hardly leaving ourselves short.

Around £60m for a world class winger who has won it all and done it all aged only 26 what is the problem? Who else do you people suggest we go in for?

I think he is one part of what we need right now. Pace, power and creativity. This team lacks it in abundance and if you aren't sure of that then you musn't have seen us last season or today for that matter.

Di Maria will be fantastic. Mark my words

I just hope the chequebook stays open for the next week and we manage to get in another one or two players.

Yes. It's very simple.

The money taken out of the budget can't be used on other targets.

I don't see how it's so difficult to comprehend. People just want us to get as much as possible out of those rumoured 200 million.

I'm very happy he's coming, thrilled even. It's just a tad worrying that the only way we can close a transfer seems to be paying over the odds.

The only Woodward signing we didn't overpay for is Mata.

What top class CMs are out there though? Vidal has seemingly been ruled out for having knackered knees which is fair enough, who else is 'available'?

Besides which, what's to say this will stop us spending more? We've spent a shittonne this window and some outlets are saying We're not done yet.
