And then it dawns on the team it doesnt really fix the problem and you;re back where you starter but out of pocket?

Why do you keep posting this?

Its very obvious that our wingers are shite and its a very serious hole we need to fill.

Well that's our own stupid fault for getting this collection of players together at the same time, they're all on huge wages, and came for huge fees it would be very hard to drop any of them when they are fit, almost better to sell one of them, I'm all for competition in the squad but a RvP, Rooney, and to a lesser extent Mata dropped to the bench for a sustained period isn't a good thing, then there is Janujaz who must be played as often as we can.

In other circumstances i'd be all for Di Maria, but just feel we have other priorities right now, but I suppose if we want to neglect them then we might as well get this guy in.

What other priorities do we have? It's not a priority to make sure Mata/RVP/Rooney are all campers, the priority is to get champions league football so if one of those 3 need to be sold or benched to do so then so be it. A lot of tough decisions need to be made with this squad and not everyone will agree with them. Look at Mourinho's Chelsea side now, he was ruthless in getting rid of Mata/Luiz/Lukaku, three fan favourites who simply didn't fit into the way he wanted his side to play. No slight on their individual ability as they can certainly do well elsewhere but it's all about the team.

We need a winger, but just not as much as other positions. He's a game changer and we haven't got many of those, so I'd be delighted.

Absolutely, Di Maria would become the crown jewel of our attack and could potentially revitalize the team

We have been trying to buy a quality winger for ages, we alredy failed to sign Hazard and Moura. Of course we need Di Maria!

It can provide much needed rhythm which solves the problem short term. Of course it's not enough, but often players starts to perform better when they have much needed confidence seeing someone else carry the team.

Commanding CB, DM, RWB, have to come before Di Maria IMHO, if they are coming too then that's fine.

No issue benching top players if they're not performing, but who do you drop first to get Di Maria in to team, as non will have been given a chance to show their true form yet.

This. Can someone tell me exactly what quality wingers we currently have at this club? Because I'm
pretty sure that the answer is none apart from Januzaj who is still very young and inexperienced. I agree that we need to strengthen in CM and CB badly too. But this is a necessary signing too and not a luxury one. We need some one who can create chances for our strikers and we don't currently have anyone who can do that on as consistent a basis as Angel can.

People seem to be forgetting he did his best work last season as a CM. We don't have to play him there every match but he'd certainly do well there if given a chance. Probably wouldn't play him in that role vs City or Chelsea but there's plenty of midfields he'd succeed against as a CM for us. And of course, yes, you can still play him on the wing in other matches. His versatility is a major bonus in my eyes.

His caution was about not being involved in the champions league. If he's coming he'd want some reassurances about other signings being made to get us in the top 4 this year. If he's coming, he's not the only one.

We don't need a rwb.

We've just signed Rojo at CB and been linked to a number of CM's. LVG is on record as saying he feels he has to play the wingback system with the players he has available namely no wing specialist and he's right, our wingers (barring Adnan) are relegation standard. So I don't think he will look at RB since if we do buy Di Maria there's a good chance it won't be with wingbacks.

That has zero response value.

On a serious note, why do you think Psg will hijack the deal? If anything Psg were always ahead in this and united by way of other factors(ffp) have actually come back into this and recent reports sways it towards United than them..

I'm completely punch-drunk when it comes to United and transfers. We seem to land the average players and get gazumped as soon as a top drawer player is available - it's happened a ridiculous amount during the last few summers.

I do not get how di maria is not what we need, we need pace, we need a winger, di maria fits those problems. And he works hard, and it gives us the chance to go back to 4 at the back, since we signed another defender

Di Maria not in the squad as expected. Good news really.

Adding the fact Real destroyed us when it came to convincing ronaldo to join them back in 2008, and this was with calderon in charge of all people, not perez but calderon

Last weeks presser lvg said we can sign a player in 24hrs, today he said the transfer market is hard?

I hope this happens but judging by a few things lvg said today I think we ain't gonna do much business!

Anything LvG says in pressers should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Pitiful change of attitude from LvG - I thought he was supposed to be someone who'd call the club out if they failed to deliver...? He very much toed the party line today.

Don't you mean world class? If and it's a big IF we do sign him then I can see other teams being scared of us again with or without further reinforcements, also if we can attract a player of Di Maria's quality without champions league then the floodgates might open in Jan.

Oh yeah, he's a world class player alright and would stroll into our team.

That said he might be displacing another excellent player depending on where he fits into whatever system we use.

For example, I'd say he's a better player than Benatia but going from Jones to Benatia would improve us more than going from Mata to Di Maria, say.

If anyone really believed that any newly appointed manager would ever speak out against the people who hired him then they're just incredibly naive. That doesn't happen, ever, especially won't happen because 1 or 2 transfers didn't work out.

So it seems MUFC did not want Kroos and Cesc, they constantly denied having any interest vidal, and looks like they never wanted di maria and khedira. Is it not wanting them? or did not want to pay the price? or the players never wanted to join us. If it is the latter, it puts into perspective the MUFC attraction is really not all that. It maybe the former and the latter

You're probably right. But between the course of two press conferences, he's gone from saying a player can be signed in 24 hours to saying the transfer window is tough. A pathetic turnaround that says a lot about the club's inability to get the job done. Yet again, we've given it the big talk and failed to deliver.
