Andreas Pereira

Strong by the u18s to beat Stoke away - Stoke started with 3 straight wins!

From what I've heard, he scored from a free kick. Also promising to see our U18's kept a clean sheet. The defence has been a bit bad in the last few matches.

Just want to ask is he 96 or 95 born?

Belgium have ridiculously talented players coming through, their youth levels are bursting with talent.

He's our youtube phenomenon. I've only see a couple of youtube clips of him and he looked ridiculously talented.

How's he coming along? From what I've seen on youtube he's even better than Dæhli

He's been missing from the team lately - may be injured.

He appears to have settled quickly and looks a very good player. Of course it's difficult to be a standout in such a talented bunch of youngsters.

Cheers mate, do you follow the academy games? Any standouts this season?

I wouldn't say that. Technically he's his equal, but Daehli runs a game, whereas Pereira just plays in it. That said, it's like choosing between Xavi and Iniesta - at the end of the day they're both fecking brilliant.

One thing I will say for him is that you rarely see such a twinkle-toed flair player with such an appetite for a crunching tackle. Sometimes it feels like a toss-up between him and Pearson for the biggest tackles in a game, which is saying something.

I spoke to Deahli's former trainer here in Norway the other day, he was adamant that he's the biggest talent Norway's had. This guy has overseen some of the players you'll see batter England U-21 in EC 2013, so he knows his onions.

Pereira is half Brazilian though, can't help it. It makes my pulse quicken.

He had a mental game the other week (Newcastle, I think). No-one could get near him in the first half. Remember a poster hitting it on the head saying he was 'like Neo against the Smith clones'. So true.

hehe know what you mean. fecking great to see.

I don't usually watch United academy and reserves game. Who do you think is the best academy player? Are Pereira, Daehli and Januzaj the best players there or is someone else I had missed? And which of them do you think is more near to the first team? Thanks in advance.

Standouts, for me at least, have been the following.

Daelhi - Controls a game, great feet and vision is cracking

Januzaj - As above, knows how to invite a tackle then skip away. Passing is a joy sometimes. Wonderful technical ability.

Wilson - I never fancy him to miss. Great intelligent running, find space, amazing feet and top finisher.

Love - Really surprised me how he's played this season. Been assured and a real asset going forward. Looks a clever little player.

Pearson - Positioning, passing, crunching tackle. Class.

Perreira - Great feet, busy, end prodct and a classy set piece as well. Really impressed with his enthusiasm, flair and willingness and like for a crunching tackle.

Barmby - Not got as many minutes as I expected...though some excellent talent ahead of him. Is it just me who thinks he looks like a brick shit house in comparison with others his age? Technical ability, great feet, takes players on, lovely finisher and quality from distance. Physical presence with the ball too. High hopes.

Gollini - He's really come on for me. I've been rather impressed with his performances

Sutherland - Good and solid.

Daelhi and Januzaj certainly look the nuts. I'd be surprised to see first team appearances in the very near future though...both probably need some time to try and establish themselves at reserve level. I'd say Perreira is not far behind.

As I say I am a big Jack Barmby fan too...and if Pearson carries on the way he has..we might be looking at a quality player.

More than anythign I love the football philosophy at this level...it's the most attractive football I've seen from a United side in ages.

9 standouts, this must be a good year!

The future is bright.

Heh..I have been known to get a bit carried away with our kids in the past...but this lot have genuinely impressed me. Their football is just fecking incredible at times.

Any of those mentioned have the ability to do something that makes you stop and go 'wow'

Technically they are on a different planet to some of our teams in recent years...Suppose we have Rene to thank....

We're spoilt with all the talented lads in the u18s this year.

Have to say though, there's something that I can't put my finger on that makes me not rate Barmby as highly as everyone else seems to.

He is kind of English in style and direct. Reminiscent of Brady (I know that he is Irish). I still rate him though Many of the others are more technically adept. I have not been watching that much of the U18'S this year but I was always impressed with Pearson too.

He's definitely strong on the ball and has got a decent shot and can cross, although he's perhaps a little too selfish.
I'm thinking it may be that he doesn't have the same level of game intelligence and off the ball movement as other players we've had in recent years.

I'm certainly not saying he's not a decent prospect, but I just don't rate him as highly as others in his positions.

I would agree with that. He doesn't really stand out to me in terms of talent but we've seen players making the step up purely because of their desire and work ethic and he certainly looks like he is capable of doing the same.

On other hand Wilson just oozes class and plays football like a game of chess. I'll be very surprised if he doesn't make it at a premier league club even if not with us.

Cheers mate. It looks that we can have some good players coming from academy in the future which is a good and exciting thing.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Still a fine prospect.

As for Pereira, the early signs are very promising and he keeps on getting better on an almost match-to-match basis. Hope he's not injured but then it seems obligatory for kids we bring in from abroad to spend a significant part of their early careers on the sidelines.

It seems like all our players do that at times, not just the kids :(

See, I disagree totally. He always stands out to me...it's very possible I am looking for it mind since I rate him. Perhaps making a biiger deal of the good things he does...if you see what I am saying.
