He's been doing better recently and is trying to be adventurous with the ball.

The problem with Pereira is he isn't explosive enough to add that bit of star quality to his game. If he starts being more consistent, he can be a good squad player for a title challenging team.

Just needs to mature a bit. He seems to play like he’s still playing youth football, thinking he has more time and space than he does, but is getting better.

I think he’ll be a valuable squad member going forward.

Add Brandon Williams to the list of players who have missed huge chances created by Pereira. Andreas didn't have a great game but should have had an assist.

Has a good playing rapport with Mata which adds to a much needed cohesion in the side.

Overall,Pereira has steadily progressed. He's had some stinkers but,for the time being, seems to have found some much needed confidence again in his game.

Decent bench/squad option.
Quite content with him staying.

He is 24. Not that young anymore. I will sell him in the summer.

I would keep him. He has gradually improved during the season, and the more games he plays, the better he gets. Whether he will be a first team regular in due course remains to be seen, but I think he will turn out to be a very useful squad player.

Good squad player with room to improve. Dont know why people hate on him, has improved quite a bit over the last year. That is what matters, and the effort he puts in.

I’ll be honest and say I haven’t really liked the guy, but I am about to change my mind. I think I can see so many good glimpses in his game that I can live with his poor sides, as example often losing possession at dangerous situations. If he continue to improve like he has the last half year, I think he can become a very good player.

I honestly think he can become a very good player in the 10 role in the next couple of years as he gets more mature. I think the underlying ability is there and he just needs to continue to refine his choices of when to force something, when to do something straight forward - which he tends to do very well - and when to try and do something a bit special, which isnt coming off much atm.

He does a couple of good things and then messes it up. He has skill obviously and he needs to harness them properly. Not to try too many clever stuff. His short passing needs to improve too.

That comes with more experience, and starting to do things instinctively, he's still learning how to play in the Premiership, and gradually those misplaced or overhit passes will become spot on, as will his shooting.

People said the same thing about Nani

Could someone please copy here the interview of Pereira with the Athletics ?

He's good only against lesser teams and that's exactly against whom he should be played. If we managed to get Fernandes, we'll play more of Periera and Lingard only against lesser teams because their first touches and decision making is totally wack. Periera simply doesn't have vision, when put under pressure he completely goes blank and runs blind with the ball which is sad for a top level club player. He loses so many times, it pains me to watch him play. Same goes for Lingard as well. Totally bull cr*p!

Definitely getting better. Gone from nowhere near good enough to an okayish squad player. I can see him being phased out over the next couple of seasons but fair play to him. He's definitely giving his all to try and make it here.

Well thats complete rubbish. He's had some good games against the big teams. Most notably against Liverpool earlier in the season where he was probably our best player.

Played well against Norwich.

He shows flashes of quality but he is a rotation player and we need more quality to get into the top 4 in future.

He's much, much better than Lingard though and should be keeping him out of the team.

I would keep him as a squad option for now, Lingard needs to go first.

You must be kidding yourselves if you think he's capable of being our midfielder or even our #10 for the foreseeable future. I don't think he has what it takes to go out there and do it every week. He's not a player we should count on for every week.

Exactly!!! And was absolute garbage in much bigger games that actually mattered, games that could have seen us put real pressure on the top 4 teams.

He, and Lingard, have been given a fair crack at that attacking midfield role and they've both proved that they're not good enough for where we are apparently aiming to be.

There's not a chance any of the other top clubs would accept such poor levels of performance for such a prolonged period of time, maybe a month or two but not 6 months, or in Lingard's case, over a year.
This is elite level sport, if you want to win things then you have to be ruthless, if players can't handle that then they shouldn't be at the club.

Given how much time Fred has been given to become a useful addition Pereira should be give that chance then to. He is becoming a very useful squad player.

He is a good squad player. The problem is that he is a regular starter for us, due the lack of quality we have in midfield. I hope Fernandes arrives so he will have far less game time.

You realise we've been fairly excellent against big teams right?

That was the most confident I've seen him going forward vs Norwich in the 1st team. I hope he continues
Agree. He has obvious natural talent and he is improving, slowly but improving. Once or if he can get more focused on his decision making he could be a very good player. I hope it happens because he is a very likeable character too.

If you read my post, I said much bigger 'games' not much bigger teams.
E. G. The games against Everton, Watford, Villa etc. were huge because other sides, most importantly Chelsea, had just dropped points.

That momentum is lost now, so anyone getting their hopes up after beating Norwich is seriously kidding themselves.

It's a shame he's not good enough, because his attitude, commitment, effort, etc, are seemingly spot on, if only all our players had this.

Personally I'd look to move him on though, only because I can't see him getting any better now.
