People are being a bit harsh here. Check out his game v Madrid last season when they couldn't get the ball off him.
He doesn't need to improve in that regard, he just needs to settle down

Yep. Looks like he will be a squad player this year and rotate in central mid (Ander's backup?). He looks like he really matured last year on loan and can play a role this season.

Anyone remember Scholesy the poster? Is he still here? Andreas would be his current favourite United player I absolutely guarantee it

In all seriousness though, he looks like he could develop into a great player we just need the chips to fall in our favour with him. So much depends on the next two seasons really.

He looks very good tbh. A tidy passer, capable of dribbling the ball through the middle in tight spaces and shows a good defensive tenacity that Jose would probably like. I see a place for him in the rotation with Fellaini and Mata for the midfield spot alongside Herrera and Pogba.

Has to be regularly involved with the squad next season and we should give him the responsibility of definite starter in the domestic cup games.

Shut the feck up bitch. You keep saying that you don't buy into the hype but continue posting tonnes of absolute drivel bashing on the kid. If you don't rate him then move the feck on. Don't need 100 posts from you stating how you are so good at judging talents and how Pereira is gonna be a flop.

Not saying i agree with him but this is a forum for opinions and discussion

Don't act like a child.

First, public forum and no ones got the monopoly on fecking knowledge on here, especially those who think using a few swear words behind their keyboards for effect is anything other than pathetic. You don't like my opinion, don't feel the fecking need to respond to it. You want to police negative comments on here, good luck with that one. If you want to embellish (that's if you know what that means) what I've said that's up to you, but don't fecking misquote me for effect. Don't want him to flop and that's pure stupidity to suggest so. He's a nice player with good technical ability but the comparisons with proven quality and the idea he should walk into the starting 11 is ridiculous imo. The lads barely kicked a ball in the first team and whilst he had a solid loan, we know the prem is very different. Even Miki and Pogba proven internationals struggled at times with the league.

Just let the lad learn his football rather than there be unrealistic expectations and pressure exerted on him with crazy comparisons. The Real Madrid youngsters were full of skilful lads that really imposed themselves on the game but no ones talking about dislodgging Modric or Kroos. That's the level of midfield player we need now and whilst he might be it, he's certainly not it now. I suspect he'll be loaned out again.

If he's not fecking good but I don't see the hype unpopular as that might be that the sheep like mentality on here follows at times, where you're labelled as a fool if you don't. Your entitled to your opinion but trust me keep the personal insults to yourself.

 Yeah that was a reasonable response to what I wrote.

I don't think there's anything more Andreas could have done to endear himself to Jose and make a claim for a decent squad player (at least) than the performances we've seen so far in the pre-season. He's kept the ball well, passed accurately, defensively contributed, battled hard in midfield, played himself out of some tough situations when crowded by players and had no one offer him a way out. If merit is the measurement of a job well done then he's earned his chance to make a career at United this season. If we let him slip we can only have ourselves to blame here. He's done what was expected of him and out-performed other first-teamer's in pre-season.

He needs to hoof the ball more to Fellaini

He was swarmed by Real Madrid players and got out beautifully?

He took the ball in space without looking behind him and turned straight into the oncoming Madrid player. Its a minor thing but i wouldnt say that clip is a positive example of his play.

I'd like to see that again to be honest because my impression was that his reverse side towards the nearest defender or keeper was covered, therefore, he ran to the wing side to find space.

Starts at 3:15.

3:15 - immediately closed down by two Madrid players in front of him. He turns back and is shoved off balance by Madrid player.
3:18 - No passing options going back as Madrid player and Marcelo closes passing option back to defender
3:19 onward - Only option is to run into wide space.

So, as you can see, not only did he turn back for support behind him, but that was closed down too. He did the right thing.

Okay

I'm presuming he's seen as a possible back up for Carrick? Not sure he is ready for that, certainly considering Carrick could very well fall below standard this season. I can see why Mourinho would probably prefer to bring another established player in.

Apparently, he created the most chances for any u23 player in la liga last season with 52, 11 less than Ousmane Dembele created for Dortmund. Thats impressive considering the fact he played for a shit team.

I doubt he's seen as a Carrick fill-in. He's not a DM or deepest midfielder. He'll get games in Herrera's position, and maybe Pogba's. Granada played him quite a bit on the wing too and he was good there for them, so there's the possibility he might get game time there too, although for me that would be a mistake.

If he does play with Herrera and Pogba, it'll be Herrera who drops into Carrick's role.

He's talented and could develop into a good versatile player similar to Modric. He has quick feets, good passing and vision, but needs to improve on his movement off the ball, positioning, awareness and tactical knowledge - all of which can be taught and likely to come with experience and hard work.

I love this kid. Great balance, technique, grit, and calmness on the ball.

Really hope he's heavily involved with the team this season.

Dembele, Lemar, and one other player whose name escapes me created more. He was joint 4th.

Petagna!

I thought he did fine against Real Madrid, especially given the quality midfield he was up against and that his two partners are very immobile.

He created as much chances as Dele Alli that played fo Spurs. He should be played in an advanced position, I feel his talents will be wasted as a DLP.

Herrera holding, Pogba and Pereira further upfront. I doubt Jose has the balls for that though

Jesus Christ, hope to God Glaston won't see this.

Wanted to see him get more mins. Wanted to see him produce more quality when he was on the pitch.

Needs to do more if he is to force his way into contention. A goal, an assist, something that you can't fail to notice.

Another game and another example how he can bait at least 2-3 oppo's players into technical dribbling challenge.

Few more tweaks with decision making and he'll be useful. So far very good pre-season.

Squad role should be guaranteed for him this year. Needs to be a bit stronger when he's on the ball though. Excited to see if he's going to break through or not!

Good news. Pereira should get the chance to show what he can do.

We should look at the potential departure of first teamers as a chance for the kids. They will never play if we just buy in from outside.

I go back to my scepticism over signing Lindelof or Keane. What has either done that Tuanzebe couldn't have got a go? If we had signed Bonnuci that'd be one thing. However, we didn't.

People are saying if we sell Fellaini we need to buy two midfielders, my question is why? We have young players with tons of potential. If there was an opportunity to get Modric, sure. However, the FM legends are saying we should go for Renato Sanches. It's like some people just pick out players that look good on video games and get hot for them. I can't see a single reason why Sanches deserves more of a go at Old Trafford than Pereira.

I hope he gets a lot of minutes this season, could well be a revelation if he starts well and gains confidence early on.
