Hoped to see a lot more than that. Rarely involved and not much sign of quality when he was.

Herrera, Pereira and Pogba is the way to go.

That's our best midfield imo. Pereira is going to be top class if he's given a chance.

He's clearly a skillful player and a good passer, you can see why he's being used in midfield as he's fleet-footed enough to keep the ball in tight positions, and he also offers an alternative for our wide. I think he'll get games for sure this season, and I suspect that maybe Jose wants to mould him into the long-term solution for the succession of Carrick's role, the calm passer. He's got the skills and I hope we get to see more of him.

Agreed, really hope Mourinho gives him a chance in that three. He's been the revelation of preseason so far for me.

He's good, theres a really talented player in there if we can find a longterm position for him to learn.

Unpopular it might be but I don't see it.....
Shut the feck up bitch. You keep saying that you don't buy into the hype but continue posting tonnes of absolute drivel bashing on the kid. If you don't rate him then move the feck on. Don't need 100 posts from you stating how you are so good at judging talents and how Pereira is gonna be a flop.

I thought he had a great game today. Hope Jose gives him a proper shot this season

One of the few who actually impressed today. Excellent on the ball and doesn't panic under pressure. Really hope he gets a lot of playing time as he's got loads of talent.

Should get regular substitute appearances in the league from the get-go, which I think he can turn into more minutes and starts this season. 30+ appearances is doable if we don't get that DM.

I'm looking forward to seeing him as a CM as he's one of the few players we have who, when being pressed/tackled, can hold off his opponent and keep the the ball closely under control. It's one of the annoying things about Mkhi in that he's so weak and loses the ball easily when pressed.

Remain one of his biggest fans but he has some issues with agility, speed of movement with the ball sometimes.. sounds counter-intuitive but even though he's capable of great dribbles he's quite slow when you compare him to say Modric or Herrera and it means he doesn't move around well enough. United are a very static side so maybe it makes him look worse.

That said he reminds me of Kroos and Schweinsteiger in the way he moves and they managed to become legendary midfielders despite lacking top tier dynamism on the ball (on paper) because of their great football brains and awesome technique and mentality. It's clear to me he has a solid brain and is a fighter so if he could just work on moving better he has some great assets.

Mcgregor is that you?

Anyway, looked neat and tidy. Think he will be a good squad player for us.

Really? He seems much faster than them but slower in thought indeed. Modric knows every step he's going to make (99% the right ones) and executes that with full conviction. Maybe that makes him seem to glide on the pitch faster but dont think he's any faster or quicker physically than Pereira.

I rate him but all he did there was get out of the trouble he created for himself.

He didn't create trouble himself, when he received possession he had 2 players on him. We need players like him who are good in tight spaces, not just players who can give one touch pass back.

You missed the point of the clip

Showing balance and ability on the ball when pressed .... from trouble he turned into. Its not a great example.

I would rather have him always on the half turn trying to run than another player who would just pass it backwards though, even though it will get him into trouble sometimes.

Modric has perfect combination of brain and agility. He's very light on his feet in a way even the greatest midfielders of all time can only dream of - so it would be unfair to judge Pereira by that standard but even by normal world class standards i.e. Vidal, Kroos, Thiago and Verratti ... I think Pereira doesn't move well, he doesn't cover ground effortlessly, it looks like hard work for him.

Modric is very quick over first few yards and he can beat players with drop of a shoulder and accelerate into space... Pereira can beat players too but at a higher level, he would need to up his game in this regard. Aside from the gif above he looked quite leaden-footed (he has quick feet but he looked like he was walking through treacle) compared to how well the Madrid midfielders were moving.

The way Mourinho sets his teams up it can make midfielders seem more one-paced than they are so probably being harsh on the young lad but just saying it's no guarantee he's destined to make it as a first teamer at a club like United based on current level of performance. For me his rivals in terms of style are Verrati and Thiago and they looked better than he did at a similar age/level of experience.

Putting him in a more dynamic side, would get the best out of him.

Think I agree with that assesment.

He is still very young. I really rate him and hope he gets to develop and get lots of game time this season. I think he is a lovely addition to our midfield and adds energy, touch, movement that we have lacked. A very welcome return for Pereira

I would be gutted if he gets sent out on loan again. The Lad needs a chance to show what he can do, think he will be a good deputy to Herrera!

I think him being given the no.15 shirt number proves he's gonna feature quite a bit this season..

I love watching him play, he's technically superb. It's his understanding of the game that needs improving, he has a tendency to run into traffic a bit and his positioning at times is off but those are things he will learn with experience.

Would you sacrifice say Fabhinio and take an older Matic to give Periera more game time next season. I suspect if Fabhinio or a very unlikely Dier or Veratti comes in we see very little of Andreas

No. We need to sign a better midfielder.

If we play a 3 then Periea should get plenty of game time no matter who we sign.

People are being a bit harsh here. Check out his game v Madrid last season when they couldn't get the ball off him.
He doesn't need to improve in that regard, he just needs to settle down

The talent is there for all to see. He's going to be some player.

Just needs to nail down a position and make it his own, which will be difficult with the squad we have.

He is a little genius, just needs to pick the right choices, when to dribble and when to pass, he seems to overdo his dribbling and therefore loses the ball too often. He is a complete player and has all the ingredients, just needs a bit tuning and playing time to nail down a position and take the next steps in his evolution

I think the kids fantastic. He's got confidence, flair and ability combined with the aggression and determination needed in England.

He might not get a starting place every game, but he's definitely good enough to be used in rotation. If Pogba needs a rest I would much rather he play than add in Carrick/Fellaini again. We need players that can pass but dribble and shoot also.

Oh really? You hadn't mentioned?

First, public forum and no ones got the monopoly on fecking knowledge on here, especially those who think using a few swear words behind their keyboards for effect is anything other than pathetic. You don't like my opinion, don't feel the fecking need to respond to it. You want to police negative comments on here, good luck with that one. If you want to embellish (that's if you know what that means) what I've said that's up to you, but don't fecking misquote me for effect. Don't want him to flop and that's pure stupidity to suggest so. He's a nice player with good technical ability but the comparisons with proven quality and the idea he should walk into the starting 11 is ridiculous imo. The lads barely kicked a ball in the first team and whilst he had a solid loan, we know the prem is very different. Even Miki and Pogba proven internationals struggled at times with the league.

Just let the lad learn his football rather than there be unrealistic expectations and pressure exerted on him with crazy comparisons. The Real Madrid youngsters were full of skilful lads that really imposed themselves on the game but no ones talking about dislodgging Modric or Kroos. That's the level of midfield player we need now and whilst he might be it, he's certainly not it now. I suspect he'll be loaned out again.

If he's not fecking good but I don't see the hype unpopular as that might be that the sheep like mentality on here follows at times, where you're labelled as a fool if you don't. Your entitled to your opinion but trust me keep the personal insults to yourself.
