Wonder if he can mould his game to be like Veratti, Scholes or Xavi. I really think we could do with someone like that.

Apparently he was careless with the ball, gave away too many passes and was rough in the tackle. Trying to work out what some people are watching.

We have a strange bunch of fans that's for sure @Stack

I missed the second half and heard on here that he was a bit shite, now I've just seen his player cam I'm left scratching my head.

All that people are saying are right regarding his potential but what hes up against is players that can seamlessly slot in a play as requires. Felliani hasnt the technical ability but doesnt need to have in that role. He just breaks down play and passes it simple. His position could be the one Herrera plays but you are taking about a player that aside from DG and Pogba is the next on the team sheet.

Hopefully he will get his chance but he will need to be better than established players in order to take his opportunity

We know its different for a young player coming than a player already established or a new signing. The new signing generally will have been given some assurances that they will play, the established players generally know whats expected of them and have the trust of the manager. The young player has neither (yet). Also we know the chances to prove your worth are pre-season for young players. Maybe its about fitness for others but for you its about how you can wrestle that shirt away from proven PL and internationals. Rash scored goals straight away and kept scoring. If he hadnt, we may never have seen him in the same way.
Fair....this is not a league to gamble and why all the top teams really struggle in promoting young players. Even then, one bad game (as you would expect from a young player) and they disappear in the club. Keane came in and had an absolute nightmare and never saw him again until turned up at Burnley.

I think the lads got talent but hes not starting 11 ready. I suggest he does a Pogba or Lingard and find a club (pref in the prem though) that he can showcase his talent against the top teams. Playing his position isnt easy to come on with 10 mins to go. Either the games dead and you are told to keep it safe or you are chasing the game which isnt easy either.

People had a similar view about Jan, clearly whilst great technically, couldnt showcase his talent at Sunderland. Yep poor team but Defo still showed his quality and although maybe an unfair comparison, thats the bar unfortunately......

Another year will be harder again as no doubt more signings of world class players. Not easy for homegrown young players and thats why so many dont make it at top clubs.

Yea maybay he should do a Pogba and leave United so we can see him develop as a worldclass player at another club and if we are lucky we can buy him back for a worldclass fee...

If he is good enough let him play, I don't agree that Herrera and Fellaini are clearly better than him and should automatically start ahead of him. If he has more to offer and we play better football because of it than he should play. I doubt he will be a nailed on starter like Pogba but he should be getting minutes for this season if not than I really don't get the point we even bother anymore with young academy players. Imo this season Pereira together with Tuanzebe and possibly Mitchell need to form an integral part of the team and they fecking need to play, they have shown on plnety occassions that they are good enough to be playing for us.

Same dilemma for all the top clubs I guess. Not saying the young players arent good enough just its a gamble less of the tops teams are willing to take. Im sure the club doesnt want another Pogba but dont remember too many on here thinking it was gonna be a 90m mistake. Time will tell I guess but I just think he needs to play and not sure 10 min cameos and a run in the cup will be enough for his development.

I prefer to see him operate near the opposition box, he has skill, vision and an eye for goal, great on set pieces too, just thought he looked a little disorientated playing that deeper role during pre-season so far and he gave the ball away at times as a result, glad he is involved though.

Dunc straight up calls Rashford a specialist striker. Wonder if that's straight from the horses mouth?

Same here though I think the extra responsibility of playing the holding role will do wonders for his defensive game which could help establish him as a first team player since Mourinho values defensive contribution greatly. I think against weaker sides he'd be more useful offensively in a three men midfield than Herrera so being equally adept without the ball will help him. Also, looking of the shower of shit being displayed on the flanks he could be helpful even as a right sided midfielder like how Fletcher established himself back in the day.

A poor 45 mins. Expect to see more quality on the ball from Andreas.

Think he tried too hard - needed to take a cleverley approach to the game.

That isn't his "highlights", it's his player cam, every touch of the ball he had. Makes a complete mockery of some of the claims here after the game.

That is incorrect. I watched the match. The highlights video most certainly did not show every touch of the ball Pereira made. There is a reason several contributors on here wrote he gave the ball away cheaply or was careless in his passing. For reasons unknown, those passes didn't make it into the video.

Over the years I've watched tons of player cam vids that did not include every touch the player made, sometimes they miss out obvious stuff like shots.

Very poor against Sampdoria. Our worst player by a mile in the 1st half which was disappointing, especially considering he was pretty poor against Valerenga too. So many bad passes, no idea what he was at. He'll already be struggling to get mins, Andreas really needs to take these chances when Jose gives them to him. Started the pre-season well but a poor end to it. Hopefully he can impress in our league cup games and maybe a couple CL group games. Really want him to get some decent minutes this season.

Excellent is stretching it. He was much better in America, poor in our last two games.

I disagree. Strongly. So much so that I'd commit murder defending the Norway performance.

He was poor last night. I was at the game. But Pogba was equally as poor outside of a few long range passes.

I was there too, delighted to see him start, very disappointed with what I saw. Very willing, in fact the worse it went, the more he showed but nobody can argue that his contribution when on the ball was anything other than poor. Would have liked to have seen him sign off what is a really important pre-season for him with a statement.
Fellaini had the poise and presence of a seasoned international, Pereira looked like a nervous kid.
It's a pre-season friendly and I'm not over - reacting. There's lots here that seem confident that he's ready to play a bigger role than the likes of Marouane or Carrick. I'm just not sure.

I don't think anyone should be judged too harshly on the basis of one friendly (one half even), but yesterday showed where he is in his development and will hopefully readjust some of the more outlandish expectations. I was among those starting to get carried away before last night, but in hindsight his pre-season was okay. Not enough to demand a place in the first XI, but enough to earn himself a place in the matchday squad fairly regularly.

At this point I'm hoping he gets a fair amount of minutes in the first few weeks of the season. From there it's up to him.

Young player in having a bad game shocker.

Relax, he is a 21yo CM, he will have a bad game occasionally. He came from what, 4 good games on the bounce? By that standard we should be going back to Benfica with a receipt for Lindelof in hand asking for a refund.

Personally I've seen enough in the friendlies to indicate he would make a very decent squad option for this year. Our other midfielders are 36, 29, 29, 28 and 24. We have plenty of experience in there so we can afford to have a youngster who's performances will fluctuate a bit.

I still don't think he is remarkable as people are pointing out here. He is not talented beyond his age too.
He is good and has potential to be really good.

His crossing has been really suspect during pre season.
People were saying it was fantastic after the first two games. Having watched his highlights, I kind of agree, he's a good crosser of the ball. He can have a bad game. Why scrutinize everything?

Agree with this. He's a prospect at this stage and a good one at that. I hope he develops the way we'd all like him to but some of the comparisons have been way over the top.

I don't care about what people are sayimg. He's a great prospect and I'm excited to have him in the time, but in all the pre season games I've seen him im, his crossing has looked suspect.
