Yeah he's done well but Serie A is a strange league to gauge quality.
Serie A defending is much tactically better than our league. Anyway, Bellotti is a real finisher, very clinical and intelligent. Totally different striker from Rashford.

As others have said, there is no way Bellotti is Griezmann's option B. Completely different players. One is a number 9, the other is more of a 2nd striker.

Serie A is also slower and players have more time on the ball.

You don't need to build a team around Belotti though, he's a pretty versatile forward and has better movement and presses relentlessly from the front., where as Lukaku is a target #9 and you need to play to his strengths. Personally neither excite me massively.

There aren't many to choose from, the best ones are at clubs that wont sell, which leaves Aubameyang, Lukaku and Belotti who are all actually for sale.

I agree there, I'm just slightly cautious that he could be a Vardy.
Your original post made it sound as if we've missed out on all the other targets.

From what's available, he is a pretty good option. Not the best, but we're not stuck with him or anything like that.

No, sorry I just meant of what there is avialable.

Who do you think is the best option?

He scored!!
Also most media outlets have linked us to him. I think we will get him. He is the typical jose striker. Defends from the front, converts most chances, good movement, deadly finishing decent pace.

Arsenal got a 65m Euros offer rejected a few months ago, said their president.

It was a bit tongue in cheek but where else is he going to go? Might not be good enough for Real Madrid, probably doesn't suit the Italian teams, Bayern has Lewa, doesn't suit Mourinho and Costa is staying at Chelsea. Plus, Klopp would like him and he would fit their style very well.

Watched a replay of him vs Juve and his all round game looks terrible. Moves well off the ball but if people thought Lukaku was bad, just wait until you see him. Still just one game though, going to watch more when I get the chance.

Well I think any player is available at the right price, and financially we can pretty much afford anybody we want. So who's the best striker in the world?

I don't think somebody like Lewandowski is unobtainable or unrealistic. We're even very likely to sign one of the best strikers in the world this summer, Griezmann.

I don't think he'd fit their style at all tbh. Klopp likes his forwards to be very mobile and active, to press without the ball. I'm not sure Lukaku would do that.

I'm starting to wonder whether he might actually be a good partner for Griezmann after all though. I think Belotti or Morata would be a better fit but I wouldn't be opposed to signing him. Why do you think he wouldn't suit Mourinho?

He means Aubameyang

PSG.

Does he have to go anywhere? Has he said he'll be leaving? Because that's like saying Griezmann (just an example) will go to Everton because he does not suit anybody else. Well, at that point he can just stay where he is.

He apparently wants to leave Dortmund this summer. And Liverpool have a lot of money now (expanded stadium and new TV deal) plus Champions League football. I feel they might actually be able to attract players of this level now, in the way Arsenal were able to attract Ozil and Sanchez.

Good point. Still, Cavani.

Maybe. A lot more goals were scored in Serie A than the PL this season:

Serie A: 1123 goals (2.96/game)
La Liga: 1118 goals (2.94/game)
Bundesliga: 877 goals (2.87/game)
Premier League: 1064 goals (2.8/game)
Ligue 1: 991 goals (2.61/game)

Agreed on Belotti and Griezmann being different players. Not sure there has been a lot linking us to Belotti though. Seems to be mostly Chelsea and Arsenal who are linked to him.

Yeah, I think a lot of Serie A teams mentally went to the beach early because it was obvious who would make CL and who would get relegated, Crotone's miraculous escape aside.

I'm a Utd fan living in Italy, and my team here is Torino.
He'd definitely add something different to our team, kinda reminds me of Choccy the way he finishes.

Really? He reminds me of Tevez both style wise and his radio-friendly appearance. But I would bow to your opinion.

Purely from videos, he looks like he adds skills we need with Zlatan out.

Seems strong and able to get out of right spaces and make a yard or two even without great pace.

Score with both feet and his head.

Looks like a hard worker and is a good age.

And Belotti isn't? For all the shit Lukaku gets about his technique and first touch Belotti seems to be just as raw as him.

You dont need a great first touch when you are parked within the six yard box. You could land up scoring with a poor 1st touch. Think Tevez.

I agree with this. If we weren't getting Griezmann I probably wouldn't be as keen, but with him coming almost a certainty, I think they'd make a good strike partnership. Griezmann has thrived in the last few years with a strike partner who keeps it simple (see Giroud for France, Torres and Gameiro for Atletico), and that's exactly what Belotti does.

Yes. Simple, direct and effective football is what we need.

Despite what most posters think, until our spate of injuries we have been playing well and creating chances. A player like Belotti seems to fit the Jose mould of no-nonsense pragmatism. If Griezmann is indeed coming then Belotti is a good complement.

Any player can look terrible in a one off game. Even the great Cristiano Ronaldo. Many times, a game doesn't tell the whole story. Jose wants him, Conte wants him, even Wenger once bidded for him. Surely, those three can spot a good player?

Thats why I said I need to see more of him. Furthermore I didn't say he looked terrible overall, I said his all round game looked terrible. He made several intelligent runs that his teammates failed to pick out.

People have the same lazy stereotypes when it comes to the Serie A. It has changed a bit.

Is he similar to Chicharito?

Tevez, Suarez, Shearer, Bellamy...

Reminds me of a cross between Chicha and Diego Costa personally. I still prefer Icardi or Lukaku

We obviously need a clinical striker. More than anything imo. I wouldn't complain if we bought back Chicharito. If this guy is good off the ball and is clinical enough to convert most of his chances then I'm all for it. Even if he's going to cost a lot. He will get loads of chances playing in front of players like Pogba and Griezmann.
