I think this season as of yet is a good proof that looking at save % isn't a good measure of goalkeepers. Onana has a fairly low save % but he's been generally pretty great at shot stopping. Have been a bit weaker in this regard the last month though. Hope he rediscovers his earlier form.

Wolves 2:0 Man Utd New
I suggested he’s not good enough due to the amount of mistakes he makes but his army of fans lobbed insults at me. He’s worse than Barthez.

This might sound harsh, but if my goalkeeper doesn't have the command or authority to pull some players back and help him out, then I'm not sure I want him to be in net in the first place.

Terrible keeper, he isn’t even good at the thing people seem to like him for which is his passing ability.

He’s going to get some defence because a foul could have been given anyway, but I’ve never seen a Goalkeeper not named David De Gea deal with a situation like that so pathetically. You have to force your way out and force them to foul you to keep you in, and instead he just stood there pathetically accepting his fate.

His time at United corresponds exactly to us being shit, he is very obviously no where near good enough. He needs to be replaced immediately with a proper goal keeper. I dare say when you get a guy who stops chucking it in his own net and passing to the opposition some of the other problems don’t look quite as bad.

Nah, he's a lot better than Barthez. I don't think Barthez could even kick it long. And he was tiny too. And more erratic. That being said, Onana has not been good enough since he arrived. A decent start to this season but he's making too many mistakes again. Obviously not helped by the constant changing in the backline, which is the one part of the team I'd prefer Amorim not to rotate so much.

Whilst I don't think he's good enough, I think one decent player in any position in this team will not look a decent player. The team is too mentally frail, too physically weak, just so many issues.

Not a foul, shit keeping and from the CB's, need to be seeing the problem and clearing the area out.

Honestly what a fecking joke

Said before we signed him it was a mistake.

Another player that can just feck right off

Couldn’t move back or forth. Which is why there is a rule that goalkeepers are protected in the 6 yard area. Should have been disallowed and I don’t see how he can be blamed for this

Then get one of your defenders to get back and feckin' help you out... Last time I checked he had a mouth.

Also there's no specific rule about goalkeepers in their 6 yard area.

Had a player in front and a player going through the back of him which meant he couldn't step back. What a joke that it wasn't a foul. Also why the hell is no one on our team giving protection to keeper!! That set piece coach is a joker!

Got rid of De Gea to bring him in! He was supposed to have helped with playing out from the back and better passing. If he can’t do that I’d rather have De Gea who is a much better shot stopper and single handedly saved us points.

Should not have been a goal. But he should say something, to his defenders and to his referee. Shove one of them and bring it to the ref's attention. We're so fecking passive. We get fouled and barely complain. We get blocked and don't call it out. Other teams are swarming the ref and asking for everything.

De Gea is the sole reason we never spent consecutive seasons out the top 4. We’ve been a midtable team since he left. So many games he saved us.

1st season, proceeds to singlehandedly eliminate us from the CL.

2nd season, trying his best to concede as many direct corner goals as possible....

Zero ingame knowledge. If you have a weakness the opposition will target it. Everyone knows that and so should Onana.

So don’t just stand there and let it happen! he needs to instigate a fool or make it obvious to every camera he is being blocked.

But nah feck that just flap your hands at it and hope the referee does you a favour.

I used to shit myself every corner we conceded in De Gea’s last few seasons where you’d see five opposition players crowding him on the goal line. Glory Days.

Worse than getting chipped from half way. Truly cringeworthy stuff. He will of course suddenly turn into Lev Yashin circa 1966 at the African Cup of Nations.

Need to move him on asap in the summer.

I was under the impression we brought him in due to his ability to command the box. Yet, he seems almost as poor as de Gea in that regard.

Dave only had a run or bad games unity and in his late career with us. Onana has been bad almost his entire career here.

Wish I could find the poster who replied to me defending him vigorously...

Under Fergie he would not have lasted more than 1 season after he almost single handedly dumped us out of the Champions League. He will forever make mistakes. It is clear he is not cut out for a team like United. He hasn't got the mentality nor the talent. His passing game is not even the smallest bit close to being enough to make up for his horrendous positioning, saving technique and complete lack of physicality. Let alone his absolutely poor mentality. He clearly gets rattled no matter what he says. This spotlight is way to big for him.

There was possibly a foul on Bayindir last week but didn't see that tonight on Onana. 1/10 performance because that can't be happening, especially after he was what happened to Bayindir.

I understand him wanting to push the player in front of him a bit. I also understand that the player behind him stops him from getting a good jump

However #1 task is to look at the ball and get in the way of it. There was no touch. He just reacted slowly to the cross coming in because he was infatuated with the players around him

To be fair, he was 100% impeded and also if he did anything wrong for that goal, it was to not yell at our defenders so some goddamned body will come and help him out with four on-site attackers crowding him

Also, eff our set-piece coach for not telling somebody to ALWAYS protect the far corner of the goal, during any corner kick. A goalie cannot be everywhere. Protecting front and back posts should be the first thing defenders do.

Agree. It will be more about the haters sticking the boot in. Whether hes good enough or not, that goal for me is 100% a foul...

At this level you simply cannot have a keeper that costs you so many points.

7 points from 5th - a good keeper makes up them points and keeps you in games you don't deserve to be in. Onana does the opposite.

I've never rated him but when he's actively costing us points, you can't ride it out and declare 'he is the least of our problems'. First position I'd change.

If you thought that was a foul you must have considered that Bayindir's last week at Spurs was a mugging, or abh!
