Anderson Vs Lucas

When you see how much Liverpool fans worship a negative manager like Benitez, you kind of understand why they hold water-carriers in such esteem.

You paid a shit-load more money for Anderson than we did for Lucas. The difference in price certainly hasn't shown through when you compare the performances of the 2 players for their respective clubs over the past couple of years.......So you kind of understand why we hold our man in such high esteem.

Liverpool fans: 'Lucas is doing a much better job than Anderson'

United fans: 'Yeah, but Anderson has the potential to be a better player'

Or in the words of Pogue..........'Mental'

Anderson's top level is way above Lucas's.

You can see why he cost a lot, because of the tools he has in his locker when on form. Tools Lucas will never have.

Anderson on form, beating men in midfield like they're not there, spraying the ball around from all angles, running the game, looks like an £18m player.

Just needs the consistency of performance, which looks like it may come soon.

Lucas just always looks like a water-carrier who you could sign for under £10m, or at least find a more than competent replacement for that fee.

When Anderson's on form, when he comes good, blah, blah, blah :boring:

He's still second best to our 'water-carrier'

Get over it man.

WTF has Nani got to do with Anderson's failings :wenger:

You said talent without consistency is worthless. I strongly disagree.

That was exactly what Nani was like up until fairly recently.

But we persevered with him when 'well-meaning' rivals like you told us he was a a flop and we'd be better off getting rid.

And now he's the best winger in the league.

So thanks for your heartfelt concern about Anderson's consistency, but you're barking up the wrong tree.

Lucas is very inconsistent too.

Witness the amount of times Liverpool got over-run in midfield last season, often against shite sides - to the likes of Wigan, West Ham, West Brom and Braga - and looked criminally short of ideas from midfield.

But it's all forgotten because Lucas had one good game against Man United, in the only match that matters in your small-time calender.

So if I'm choosing between two inconsistent players, I'm not gonna choose the two-a-penny water carrier. I'll choose the one who can play.

Nani is Nani. & Anderson is Anderson. Your Brazilian lad needs to show the consistency before you can start banging the drum for him.

He's really not though.

He's much less talented and just as inconsistent.

A better player he is not.

I think he's better at fouling and avoiding yellow cards, that's about it in the talent stakes.

That's just your opinion though. Most sane people can see that he 'currently' is. Anderson might eventually eclipse our lad & force his way back into the national side. But until that happens, you don't have an argument.

Yep, we've heard this about countless players regardless of how well they developed, even Ronaldo...

Ronaldo still dribbles into blind avenues, tries to bea the same man four times, shoots a bit too much, and rarely plays one touch passes, often times using the wrong option. At your best your club is a one touch team in the final third, and it is devastating. How many of your moves break down when Ronaldo tries to dribble instead of playing the quick pass?

I don't think he has improved much at all since he signed. He is still making the exact same mistakes, and hasn't shown that he has learned from any of them.

Just a year before he developed into the best player in the world, essentially.

Wolfshead is spot on. Anyone with half a football brain can see Ronaldo is not suited to the English game. He's a luxury player and far too inconsistant for a title winning side.

6 months before.

We know how to develop potential and we know Anderson has it, it doesn't matter in the slightest what rival fans think - they're usually wrong when it comes to this kind of thing. At the period in a players' development when patience and belief is key, opposition fans will inevitably come out with hilariously off comments because they're not obligated to show either - as we saw in this very thread, from one of our own, in saying that Lucas was no better than Jonathan fecking Greening.

Yes, selection for the national side is the main criteria for judging a player.

It's just your opinion though, too, in case you didn't realise you melon.

Lucas is an inconsistent water carrier who is often found wanting in games for Liverpool, even at the poor level of Europa League.

It would be insane to say Anderson is better than a top level midfielder like Iniesta or Sneijder.

It's not insane to say he's better than an inconsistent water carrier who even struggles at poor levels of competition - especially when Anderson has often excelled in the CL.

Brazil has nothing to do with it because Anderson isn't a water carrier, and Lucas has been shit for Brazil in any case.

Spot on.

We usually have the last laugh in these matters.

And redman5 goes missing for 6 months.

Based on his obvious talent.

I am glad we have Anderson. Sir Alex is probably too, and I doubt he would swap him for Lucas.

The fact that Fergie hasn't got rid tells you that he believes the lad will come good. So the odds are he probably will. But there are no guarantees in football. & I reckon Kenny wouldn't swap our Brazilian for yours.

But Kenny spends £35m on the likes of Andy Carroll, so I don't think we'll pay much attention to his judgement. Hilarious though that you're going on about the relatively paltry £18m paid for Anderson with that in mind.

Nah, I'll still be around. I haven't said that Anderson won't come good have I ?

It's just that he's got some work to do to get past the Anfield 'water-carrier'

He's got some work to do to replace Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.

The Anfield water carrier should never be used as reference point for a player with as much natural talent as Anderson.

Ah, but it's not just my opinion though is it sunshine. The Brazil team manager also thought Lucas, on the form shown last season, was more worthy of a place in his side than your boy Anderson.

Stop getting so wound up. I'm sure your lad will come good soon. You've told us so.

Mods, please rename thread to Lucas v Scholes v Giggs v Nani v Carrol > Anderson.

Whooops one of my 'v's fell over. :p

I just don't want this wonderful post to get lost in here. Liverpool's midfield with Lucas in it got the piss taken out of it many many times last year, they were fecking shite.

And the midfield WITHOUT Anderson in it won league number 19. I think I'm with you, just need to pull this face :wenger:

The time to judge Andy Carroll is when he's been at the club for 3 or 4 years. & even if he hasn't reached his full potential, I'll simply argue that he'll eventually come good :D

The disgraced Brazil manager whose team just flopped at the Copa America?

Nice advocate, you bellend.

Sad that this is what you're reduced to redman5. #19 has really taken its toll.

If only we'd have had Anderson instead of Lucas. His potential would have made all the difference.

You'd have been a lot better off in those games. You looked clueless in midfield and Lucas may as well have been playing for the opposition half the time.

In Europe, having a player who has performed to a very high level in the CL would certainly be a turn up for the books compared to a player who struggles in the Europa League.

 the worst Brazil team and manager in decades, good point numb nuts.

The England manager thought Lampard was a better option than Scholes, he must've been right too
