Anderson on his way out?

You don't have to be debt free or loaded to buy a player, and 15 million is not THAT much to begin with (when you consider how the transfer could be structured and how much a player of his age / potential would go for).

Whether or not it's a fabrication however, only time will tell.

it is when you're selling your best player for 45 million euros, and whose one of the best defenders in the world because of financial reasons; the players seemingly happy to stay.

Also, Inter are in even worse straits; just Sugar-daddy keeping them afloat till FFP kicks in. Milan's sugar daddy doesn't want to share anymore.

Me too.

I never really got the Anderson hype.

Well, he was good in some games for us in his first year.

And we are not going to get 15 million for him. But I'd be glad to see his back, and get Nick Powell get some chances in the first team.

£15m is a fantastic price and Fergie will laugh all the way to the bank.

If it was true.

Disagree with that. Cleverley was neat and tidy but Anderson was the driving force in those early season games. His performance at Bolton was immense. Way better than anything Cleverley's managed so far in his United career.

Cheers for that Pogue, was my memory of it too. At the time people were just all caught up with a new young prospect.

:wenger:

Can none of you remember how good Anderson was at times last year? This lad is going to be a beast!

Ever since that one good game he had against Fabregas all I've heard from Man utd is how he was destined to be a great midfielder but it hasn't materialised. Injuries haven't helped but if he is injury prone then surely you have to give up somewhere and move on.

And that game was 4.5 years ago!

To be fair to Cleverley I think he was the more creative player of the two, (especially against Arsenal) but it was Anderson that really bossed games for us.

Don't get me wrong, I was really impressed with Cleverley and his short passing game no doubt caught the eye, but he was given more of a license to play/create. As you say Anderson was the one that was given the responsibility of bossing games for us.

That "shits on Fabregarse" line always made me cringe, because it was so patently untrue.

Worth noting, though, that his performances from 4.5 years ago weren't actually as good as what we've seen from him more recently. At the time, everyone was getting giddy about this exciting young prospect but in terms of overall quality of performances he's definitely played his best games for United in the last two seasons.

Very inconsistent and injury prone but does seem to be moving vaguely in the right direction. I'm just not sure he has the right mental attitude to be the best that he can be (based mainly on the implications of his chronic lack of stamina)

It's completely odd that the season he had the most games(and probably most minutes in general) is the season we were kinda of incredibly stacked for options in midfield.

Spurs should look at taking him while trying to fleece us for Modric really, a solid replacement, especially given the fact he will be able to get away with bad games more often there, so will be able to get proper runs of games in.

15 million? That should help the healing. But I don't possibly see how those italian clubs would bid 15 million for him. Firstly, one of them is selling their bestest player PURELY for financial reasons; the player doesn't want to leave. So i don't see them getting 40m on a forced sale, and spending 15 of it on a midfielder whose injury prone.

With Inter, they are more financially screwed.

If it was PSG, i'd maybe believe it.

However, I think that Anderson considering his injury record would fetch much less if WE wanted to sell him; his value won't decrease much if we wait a year, and by paying his 2-3 million wages, we can possibly finally see him shine, and then have a player who can boss games very well, and turn out to be a player worth much much more money (Not that we'd sell him if he became important; it's just he'd be WORTH heaps).

If he doesn't, sell him next year. Not going to lose much more than 1 year of his wages.

I really like Anderson as a player and he seems to be a likeable guy but £15m for someone with his past injuries and intermittent form would be difficult to turn down.

Being Goal.com I don't think we have to worry though, I fully expect him to be around next season and have a period of time where he'll sure us what he's made of. Then get injured.

Shame really.

I sometimes think most of the cnuts on this website don't even watch United games. He was fantastic almost every time he played in 2011. He even started scoring goals. I guess he's been injured for half a season, so let's all have a party when the Italian sharks start circling one of our best young players.

I've always wanted Anderson to do well. He's shown flashes of awesome potential, but is he ever going to be able to stay fit long enough to get another proper run in the team?

If he goes, so be it, I'll wish him well. If he stays, fantastic, I wish him much better luck with injuries.

Pretty much.

He's shown some great stuff now and then...

He's nowhere near shown he is going to be a beast.

He really, really, really wasn't.

I'm a massive fan of Ando but at the end of last season I came to a point when I was hesitating about his future. The question is if he's a notorious sick note like Hargo and Saha or just extremely unlucky?

My heart say's give him another season but at the same time we have to be realistic, he haven't been fit for a longer period then a couple of months for four years. That's not a good sign. If reports are true and if we can get £15m for him it's a very good deal for a player with his history.

My gut feelings tells me that we keep him. With Scholes and Giggs enter their final year (???), Fletcher's situation and Cleverley's injury history it would be to much of a risk to let such a young proven quality player leave without proper replacements. If we buy two players like M'Villa and Modric it would make sense but otherwise I'm not so sure. Going by history SAF is a loyal manager who want to give his players a chance and I think he still has a soft spot for young Anderson, ...... just like the rest of us.

I like Anderson myself...but you wonder is it time.

I agree with what you've said regarding our other options. I don't mind keeping him another year and seeing what happens..as long as we sign another fecking midfielder.

For me, Anderson is that sort of player that I really want to do well which means that I tend to overlook his poor attributes and just give him praise when he's doing well.

We all know that the guy can play when he's on form, but he just seems to get a long term injury everytime he seems to be really kicking on. I see alot of the same problems with him as I do in Rafael and Fabio, in the sense that they are all very rash/brave when they are competing for the ball and tends to throw themselves into tackles that can end badly. It's obviously something that they'll learn from, but to learn they need to play games, and to play games they need to stay free from injuries. It's sort of a negative spiral, but I still have outmost faith in him, simply because he seems like such a likeable character and I just dont want to see him fail :(

Hope this is rubbish.

I still believe Anderson can make it here.

Hope he stays.

If he does leave it won't be for £15m. It will be more like £7m.

He's another bad buy.

IMO it is only worth hanging onto the player if you can't flog him and you kinda have no choice but to keep plugging away, like we are doing with Diaby and possibly what we did with RvP as well. However if you get a good offer then I think at some point you gotta cut your losses and let the guy go..........and then watch his injury problems all go away and see him fulfil his potential :nervous:

I agree with his stamina, seems to run out of steam after around 60mins so maybe a higher tempo league like this isn't best for him. Might just not have the stamina but like you say could be due to lack of work off the pitch.

Anderson is a Champions League and multiple Premier League winner (regardless of his contributions). If Baines is worth £15m to £20m then Anderson is worth a tad more than Baines.

Baines has the a) English Tax and b) Everton are hard negotatiators.

Also who wants an injury prone player? Apart from us as we bought two of them - Anderson and Hargreaves.

At a push Anderson might go for £10m.

Shame if he does go. Unfortunate with injuries, but only showed flashes of what he could do for us. He is a loveable character aswell, someone who appears to enjoy his football.

Usually rate your posts Chabon but thats simply not true. Its nice to see fans sticking up for one of our players (in comparison to treatment of say Fletcher/JOS over the years) but in Andersons case im afraid the above is wrong. Sometimes talented players just dont make it here. Not for lack of ability either its simply the nature of football.

To be fair to Cleverley I think he was the more creative player of the two, (especially against Arsenal) but it was Anderson that really bossed games for us.

I don't think either of them were THAT good, they certainly didn't justify the hype around here, and the quality of opposition was poor, but for me Cleverley looked better, though maybe I was biased because I hadn't ever seen him playing like that before.

Anderson isn't a lost cause yet, like I said, I'd take £15m because it's too good to turn down for him at this stage, but there's no way it's true. Other than that, we may as well keep him, but I sincerely hope that SAF stops relying on him to get fit and be consistent and therefore sort out our midfield, and goes and buys some players instead. He's had so many chances at this stage.

Arguable.

Baines is no Irwin otherwise, one of the rich clubs would have snapped him up by now. He is also 27 so he is in his prime and in the next few years, his value with start to fall.

Anderson is not the only one with reoccurring injuries. Baines is another.

Exactly!
