There does not seem to be clubs courting through the media... perhaps his wages are too high for anybody to take a punt until his contract has run down

If we could finally buy a decent midfielder perhaps he could even go on loan somewhere (back to Brazil / Portugal perhaps? )

He needs to go back to the future, find and marry his mother, father himself, then put himself on a strict diet from an early age so that he doesn't become used to food.

That could work.

Even time traveling has its rules man. Not quite sure how going to the future would make his mom more fertile.

Pfft.

I meant Back to the Future in the movie sense, which involved travelling back to the past, then coming back to the present, before going forward to the actual future, coming back to the present again, and then going back to the past before the first past. And coming back to the present. I would have thought that was obvious.

I'm not exaggerate when I say I'd fully support the club offering to pay him £200,000 a week just to stay and hang around with the team and have all his exploits filmed. I don't want him to ever go.

I'd say Moyes would drive him to portugal if he could flog him there....anderson is a loveable character but does not have the hunger or desire to reach his potential and is probably more into the money and birds more than anything else...he definitely would brighten the dressing room up....a handy player to have on the bench mind you if he's not injured

I'd say that is 1 thing Ando never lacks

Just came back from the game today. Saw Anderson in training before the game and he is seriously overweight no wonder he couldn't run 90 minute through out a match.

He was pretty ordinary against the all stars. He just seems to be going nowhere, sadly. I've always rated him as a big talent but I don't see it coming together. There's no progress in his game. The way I see it, we should have one young midfielder who is still coming to terms with this level and the level of fitness required thereat. And for me that has to be Cleverley. He seems much more willing to fight and improve to me.

I've only caught one of our games but it seems Anderson has played a lot. It almost seems like Moyes is deliberately playing him more than others in order to get him fitter. It's embarrassing how few times he has lasted 90 minutes for us.

Future star.

Wrong thread, but I'll leave it here for the irony.

Even if we signed a couple of CM's, I wouldn't want to let Anderson go.

Can anyone corroborate this, or is this poster trotting out the same tired bollocks as everyone does with Ando?

I'm all for criticising a player if they're not looking after themselves, but I can't say I've heard any concerns about his conditioning this pre-season. That he's remained fit throughout is a big bonus, surely.

Calling him "seriously overweight" is quite stupid and an easy opinion.

He played well last night I thought.

Nobody can seriously believe that David Moyes, notorious for his policy regarding fitness, would allow a "seriously overweight" player to just stroll into the team on a pre-season tour. Must be a joke. Seem to have heard it before once or twice.

Ando has featured a lot, hasn't he? I guess Dave is testing the lad, trying to figure out to what extent he can rely on him.

Always seems to do well in preseason. If moyes can keep him fit,i guess he will feature quite a lot this season.

Everyone around me couldn't believe how unfit he was we were all laughing when Ando was put aside and has to do some resistant running exercise where the trainer put some strap on his body with a rope and they hold the rope while he sprint. You could tell how quickly he's out of breath.

He looks much more in shape in our last game mind you so he might shred some weight.

He played well for 45 mins, very positive and sharp with his passing. Then in the 2nd half he faded out of the game. Whether thats because of stamina issues or something else I dont know, but the Anderson in the first 45 minutes will be useful this season. The Anderson in the 2nd 45 minutes wouldnt be missed.

To be quite honest I was always amazed that Fergie allowed his consistent wait an fitness problem to go on for so long.

I hope Moyes and his fitness trainers get him back into shape.

Let's hope we will see a fully fit Ando at the start of this season who as a consequence doesn't get injured after 2-3 games.

I don't know what selling Anderson today would bring us. Maybe £7m like the Gervinho offer from Roma? Truth is he's not kicked off and there are players doing an equal job that are in lesser clubs. We could might as well let him have another year and see how it goes.

To anyone that think I was taking the piss. Here the video I recorded at the match.

Like I said, it's only the first week of pre season and he looks so much sharper now but he WAS seriously unfit at that match.

Its all relative. Compared to the average man in ths street he isnt overweight, nor is he unfit. But he's a professional athlete playing at a level where a fraction of a percentage can be the difference between being a top player and not good enough.

People use the argument on here that "he can't be unfit because the cluub wouldnt stand for it" - rather than actually look at what their eyes are telling them. Bottom line - he looks heavier than he should be, cant string more than a handful of games together and even when fit cant last 90 minutes. That tells you all you need to know.

if he's ever going to have a career at the top level he needs to sort it out. He's got every opportunity to do it - the best advice and training and a huge incentive. Hopefully he can get fit and make an impact this season - if the club dont move him on.

What could make someone weaker than others in terms of stamina (bar the weight reason) ? Could he have a heart condition (I know it's totally random to say that) ?

I don't mind keeping him. But he has to be 4th of 5th choice. Right now, he just can't be relied on. Carrick, Cleverley, Anderson and two new midfield signings should be our aim.

Dunno about Anderson, but according to research, something like x percentage (30 I think?) of the population are genetically unable to improve their vo2 max.

General fitness levels? And maybe there's a natural capacity your body has too. I remember as a kid I had ridiculous amounts of energy until around 18/19 them my eating habits became poor and although I'm probably the ideal weight for me now, I'm not very fit. I get tired easily. Ronaldo being the physical machine is no coincidence, he worked hard on it. I'm sure what god has given us such as general body build also plays a part.

I agree that the natural aspect of things plays a role in determining who has more stamina than who. I am still slightly overweight but since I've been doing a lot of cardio and HIIT exercises, I have a lot more stamina and energy than 90% of the guys I play football with.
Whatever is holding back Anderson, it has got to be a natural reason because with SAF as a coach, I don't think he'd have gotten away with a poor lifestyle. I refuse to believe that. Nor I see him as a fat footballer, he's just built differently than most of them (like Rooney for instance). The build doesn't necessarily give you a direct indication of a player's stamina levels.

5th choice? We don't even have that much midfielders.
When fit for me he's second choice on par with Cleverley behind Carrick.

He's great to have around the squad, offers something different from the current midfielders we have and he's funny and loveable. I want him to stay.

In 2008 we had scholes, Carrick, Anderson, fletcher and Hargreaves. Last season we has scholes, Carrick, anderson, Cleverley and Giggs and possibly jones sometimes.

I just think that Giggs should be playing further forward and jones shouldn't be playing there at all. Instead have 5 midfielders who all are either completely suited to the position or will do so in the near future. Hence why I think Carrick and two other proper central midfielders is ideal with Cleverley and Anderson as backups or getting games through rotation. Enough of our make up of main midfielders consisting of players learning the position or being defenders or being 39. It's bonkers.

Maybe we can make him the team mascot.
