His is a player without use... ergo, he is useless.

This is what I always think. He is just the definition of useless really. He is a body in centre midfield and that it. I've seen him have a handful of good games and anytime he gets anywhere near a good level he's either injured or suddenly just not fit which is a huge worry for a professional footballer.

He can't shoot, he can't really pass that well (he makes the occasional good pass which is cancelled out by about 20 awful ones), his "bursting runs" tend to be followed by him looking like he's about to pass out for about 20 minutes and I may be the only one who thinks it but he has this weird thing where he's scared of the ball, he doesn't make himself available and instead seems to run in to a position where it would be impossible to receive a pass.

I think he'd struggle to get in to most premier league sides and yet finds himself in ours quite a bit and it's baffling. I might be going over the top but to me he's just a really poor player, I'd hope we get rid of him but I honestly don't see who would buy him.

As harsh as this is, watching him yesterday I was thinking what he actually does. He doesn't win the ball back and he isn't creative, aside from the occasional driving run from midfield, which he didn't do to any great success yesterday, he offers nothing. How he's remained here for six years is an absolute mystery.

I've always backed Anderson to come good eventually if he got a run of games but he's been a liability at home to Crystal Palace and West Brom; teams we should be beating comfortably. It's getting to the stage where you're concerned if he starts.

Its such a shame about Anderson, he was meant to be the long term replacement for Scholes was he not? He has the talent which he's showed on some occasions, but maybe he lacks the desire and consistency. Injuries and weight problems haven't helped.

I don't see him like united player in near future :(, maybe something like 10-15 min substitute, nothing more than that!

One of the most pointless, limited players to play for a top 10 European team in the last 5 years.

Embarrassing. We should just pay up his contract.

Interesting to know what he is up to at the moment because I have hardly seen him feature this season.

If he is fit then he should start in the league cup.

Got to be honest, I really struggle to see the use of him these days.

Just a bit of an overreaction. He was very promising youngster when he bought him, his development was just halted when he broke his leg and instead of us using him as an attacking mid, we tried turning him into a central midfielder. Obviously hasn't worked out but he's still pretty talented and shown glimpses of his ability, his injuries have just ruined him which is a shame.

Also, I'd say Bebe holds the title for most pointless and limited players. Anderson is nowhere near.

Quite a character, and likeable, with bursts of brilliance, but too few and far in between. If we do get one or two good midfielders in, I can't see him getting many games. Probably better for him if he moved on. Shame though, he started so promisingly.

Played 60 mins for the U21s (along with Fabio) on Monday. Put in a really good energetic performance I thought.

Looks more in shape than last season imo. I agree he should play in the league cup game. I still think he has something to offer this season, it's just I don't think his positional discipline (or lack thereof) or reading of the game is suited to a midfield two.

He was great for the U21s - along with Fabio, he showed that he's a couple of levels above that standard. I don't think he's been poor when playing this season either. In a midfield three with Carrick and Kagawa, I think he could be really, really good - but I'm quite optimistic by nature

Riiiight

We need to put that into perspective! great against players who are emerging youngsters or yet to establish themselves. He's been here too long to be playing at that level. It's obvious that he isn't good enough if a 40 year old Giggs is still being picked over him UCL games

Does that same logic apply for Fellaini? Giggs hasn't played in a while and he might have shown great form in training. Young playing ahead of Kagawa shouldn't reflect Kagawa's abilities for instance. I think he played at the U21 to get more match fitness, not because it is his level.

Both Fabio and Anderson should be far above under 21 level. Pity Fabio can't dislodge Buttner. I rate him much higher.

May as well give him the league cup game to see where he is at.

I don't get it. Having Fabio on the bench gives you a right back and a left back. With Büttner you hardly have a left back. Yesterday, Fabio could have replaced Rafael and our attacking outlet on the right could've continued.

Ah Anderson. What could have been. I really think the injury last season spelled the end. He actually looked slim and fit. He almost looked weird. He had that brilliant League Cup game with a beauty goal. Then got injured right away. That must have been devastating.

I'm trying to decide if he has either lost motivation, or he has so many niggling injuries because of the broken leg.

If he does still have lingering injuries then that explains the poor fitness. How can you properly train if you constantly keep getting hurt.

Then I think Anderson has become complacent. He is playing for one of the biggest teams in the world, won CL and a bunch of League titles right when he joined. He knows that there are many players ahead of him and will never get into the Brazil team. Perhaps he is happy sitting on the bench and being a lovable Brazilian mascot cracking jokes and helping the portugese speaking players bed in.

It's all very depressing. Fergie got loads of stick for not investing in the midfield but if you look what happened to Hargreaves, Anderson, Fletcher it is all very disappointing because all three are very good midfielders that have been plagued by injury.

Anderson is done since his shambles against WBA. Never seen a worse performance in my life from him, he was that bad. Get rid.

He has stuck around because Fergie knew that a dribbling midfielder can be an amazing weapon. A few years ago Giggs tore Chelsea's robust midfield a new one. Fergie mentioned that a dribbling midfielder is crucial in the CL.

Anderson can do this and we all know it, but we just don't see it enough and it is most likely due to fitness.

I didn't think Anderson was that bad against WBA.

I'm done now as well. He had everything to become an incredible player. Just didn't work. Time to free up the space on the squad.

Come next summer, Fellaini will take over his role as the 4th or 5th midfielder in our team

He had everything to be a good player. He's a fairly decent one. Just not good enough to be a CM for us.

Still cant believe people suggested he could become the best player in the world

Well re-watch the game again, you'll be surprised.

Remember Queiroz saying that when he came here, a lot of people actually thought that he'll go all the way.

It's a travesty that Anderson never fulfilled his potential with us.I say never like he's no longer with us but the truth is he's a gonner! Bloody shame and he must have driven the coaching staff mad! Likeable guy but he just never had the concentration on the pitch and fitness issues and possible lifestyle problems contributed also.I wish him well when he's moved on.He needs a new club and we need the space in our squad.

Anderson only dribbles through midfield when theres huge amount of space. He doesnt have the subtelty to dribble past oraganised midfields

The only time he ever played well for us was in his first few months he arrived and then years later for a brief period when his contract was up for renewal......I think our inability to sign top midfielders meant that Anderson has been able to stay a good bit longer than the management would have wanted

In every season he's had those bits of games, or the odd full game, where he's unstoppable and you hope he goes on from this to be a really good, consistent player. But it never happens. Sometimes it's injuries, but mostly it's just him. There's a lot of talent there and the great player hidden there could have huge for us, but at this stage we need to cut our losses.

he is only our 5th or even 6th choice midfielder at the moment - as far as I know he has not had any injuries recently so it is pretty embarrassing for him to have to play with the reserves at this stage

his contract is up summer 2015, Im sure we would let him go for any kind of offer in the Jan window.
we wouldnt even recoup half of what we paid for him right now and it will be even less by next summer

I was always impressed by Anderson, especially his stint with Porto, where I was convinced he would go on to me a more dominant version of Deco. It's a shame his injuries have stunted his growth as a player.

Type 'attack the space' into Google and the first match is 'attack the space redcafe'. Just had another read of that thread, hilarious stuff.

I just did that was carnage, did Boss come back in the end?

It might help if he was allowed on the pitch a bit more. In the past when his play has begun to improve injuries have halted his playing time.....

.....and while Moyes is at it I'd appreciate it if he could give some more game time to Fabio and Hernandez please.

At the rate he's going half the squad are going to be asking for transfers out of here, which could cause us a problem as Moyes/CEO seem to have little or no no pulling power as fas as buying players is concerned.
