however i think Ando might now be slightly ahead of Clev as a backup.
Judging from the start of the season, not a chance.

You know the caf is all about being negative when summing up ando's performance is that he is slow. I mean what the f***. He had anan average performance, but the shit on here is just plain stupid. That pass to Young was sublime and should have been an assist. Give him a few more games before slating this hard - and ando slow? Seriously! !
One pass in 65min vs a terrible side is hardly what we expect from a starting midfielder at United? You know the caf is all about being negative when summing up ando's performance is that he is slow. agreed
probably been posted but . Hilarious.
How can you not love him he's such a character.
His pace has little to do with the criticism he has warranted. And as for waiting a few more games before jumping to conclusions... Well, he's over five years at the club and has yet to deliver. Anderson's an okay midfielder don't get me wrong, but games against Palace are one's he should be performing in, especially when you consider they're the type of games we're going to utilise him in as he's nothing more than a squad player.
He's a likable character but I'd be amazed if we kept him on after this season, assuming we'll bring in more midfielders.
I don't necessarily disagree with this. What I do disagree with is a lot of people coming up with some ridiculous statements about Anderson being too slow and what not - he's probably amongst the top five fastest central midfielders in the league. His physical presence is what can still set him apart from players like Cleverley, who is also quick but not able to run past midfielders like Ando can.
I agree that he should perform better than what he did against Palace, but I think some judgements on here are too clouded based on a couple of funny looking stumbles and unnecessary losing the ball on a couple of occasions. He looked rusty to me, and he tried to play it too safe, for me. He did have some sublime passes though - that one cross to Young where he had to twist his body and then was able to pin post a 40 yard pass with pace to Young was incredible, as was his should-have-been assist. He wasn't good, but he wasn't rubbish either. He looked like someone who hasn't played much lately, and he hasn't played much lately.
If he remained constantly fit then he might get regular games. If he cannot keep himself fit and prefers to sit on a bench and take the money then, it is time for him to leave. Offering a couple of decent passes in 65+ minutes means feck all in todays game. If you cannot do it on a regular basis, then just go and join a club at your level i.e. Stoke City.
Characters do not help towards the team cause or win trophies. He simply isn't good enough and the fact that he is Brazilian doesn't cut it anymore. If he had been from either Scotland, Wales, the Sudan or Iran, we would have got rid a long time ago but because he is Brazilian changes everything. Personally, if Moyes decides to get rid of Anderson, I will be happy, because he is at least Stoke level at best.
He doesn't have poor passing stats against these two, they are all really similar last season. Yet Cleverly does in fact have a higher pass completion % than Carrick, does it make him a better passer? No it doesn't. Carrick and Anderson are our two best passing midfielders in the team in my opinion, especially going forward. If you bring up a chart of Cleverly's average passing range each game, it would not be surprising that they would show a lot of short passing sideways or backwards rather than forwards. That doesn't help us going forward at all. Anderson does attempt the hollywood ball more often than not, but he is the only one that actually attempts it, and offers a different route in our attack rather than the increasingly predictable short passing we do where our midfielders look at the destination for a good couple of seconds before passing. His long range ball success is in fact one of the best too, only behind Carrick and Scholes in the team last season.
Our defenders (especially Rio) attempt Hollywood balls more than Anderson does, and as much as they get shit, it isn't half of what Anderson gets on here. Our midfield gets stale with Cleverley and Carrick in the midfield sometimes, and if we keep Anderson fit and hopefully playing more regularly this season, I would rather see him playing alongside Carrick than Tom, because at least then we would see our team being driven forwards rather than seeing the 2 CMs being constantly in line with each other the entire game when attacking.
Yeah we have no option but to, really. We didn't sign another midfielder and we let no one go so Anderson has one more season to prove himself. I'm expecting nothing but more of the same. After so many years of defending him and hanging on to hope of him coming good, I'm spent with regards to that.We need to be fair to Anderson here. Yes, he didn't play particularly well, but this was his first action of the season. He needs to be afforded the same patience as plenty of other players who haven't really found form this season either (and some of them have had far more chances). Looking at his body, he seems to have made an effort to get trim over the summer, so let's give him a chance.
Anderson is what he is, a decent squad player.
He will never be a world beater, and when the time comes to replace him with a better player it will happen.
A decent squad player at Man Utd should be a player who can come in to the team and deliver good performances when required, and play 25-30 games a season in order to compensate for possible injuries to others. You can't say that about Anderson.
Honestly, I'm not sure at this stage what he brings to this team that's of any use.

He's not a decent squad player though.
I mean, when you look at what a decent midfield squad player should do for a team, as in score a goal here and there, make the odd assist and make an impact off the bench regularly, is Anderson even that?
Against QPR at home last season, he changed the game at half time.
Oh wow, he had a bad game and slipped during it, first time this has happened to a CM
