In Fergie's book his brother Martin (chief scout) went to watch Anderson for a month and came back saying he is better than Wayne.....

It's a shame it ended up like this but we can't be doing with any hangers on.

Question then is, why did SAF spend so much time converting him into a central midfielder.

I thought that until you see the players taking the piss out of him on Rio's Tour Diary when most of the others are sleeping and he's up munching crisps.

 Typical Ando.

He can go for all I care. There was this moment last night Rafael was totally free on the right side, 35 yards out, Anderson was kinda moving to the right with the ball. But because of the angle he couldn't use his left, his right foot is dead, and he just isn't technical enough to use the outside of his left. So he did an "Ashley Young" and checked back. Moment gone.

Is that sense he's actually very limited in the middle, and I never really thought about that until last night.

Carrick is very secure with his left, Cleverley I'm not sure but he's capable with the outside of his right, like Scholes was the master of, so he's fine. Fellaini I don't know, probably rubbish either way.

Would have to disagree with that. I have seen him use the outside of his foot many times and sometimes to good effect. Highlighting one specific incident and judging his game on that is a little harsh.

I can't really remember him capable of such a "finesse", but I take your word for it.

Does an injury to Carrick give Anderson his final chance to impress?

Is he finished completely?

Off in January?

Or happy to be a jolly Brazilian mascot while collecting wages?

Would be surprised if Moyesie gives him the nod at this stage. I reckon he'll opt for Jones and Cleverley against Cardiff, possibly Fellaini for Jones if he prefers the latter at CB - or if he wants to rest him, as he's nearly nailed-on to start against Leverkusen. Giggs is above Ando in the pecking order too. So, no. Ando is a goner, I think. If we get any interest in January, he'll be moved on then. If not he will certainly be gone come summer.

If it wasn't for Carrick's injury I'd have been very confident he'd be off in January.

Or, if he doesn't put in some good performances in Carrick's absence then it really should be the nail in the coffin and he'll be off. We should be looking for midfielders both first team quality and for a squad role.

I don't think Moyes rates him, his career at United isn't rescuable.

Out only if we get another midfielder, if not then we need to keep him as a backup.

We need him around for now. We need all the help we can get in centre midfield. We should probably sell him in the summer once we holefully get some quality in.

While he clearly is a useless, waste of space I always think United played a part in him not realising his potential. When he came he was supposed to be a very gifted attacking midfielder and we tried to coach him into a box-to-box midfielder who could run from deep. It's clear that this has never worked out, and I think he may have turned out much, much better as something closer to a midfielder like Iniesta. Not quite a 10, but not a deeper lying midfielder. To compare him to Iniesta is ridiculous and his fitness issues would have probably stopped him developing anyway, but I don't think he ever had the capable to do the defensive work that we tried to develop with him.

I think he deserves a little more respect from a lot of fans. If you don't rate him, that's fine, if you want him sold, that's fine but I don't think some people appreciate just how good a squad member he has been. Now obviously he didn't turn out the way we wanted him to. Yes, it was a lot of money (not his fault). But we as fans piled and piled the pressure on him from the beginning, wanting him to be the new Scholes and all that.

That first season, he made close to 40 appearances, playing a key role in us winning the Champions League, for a young kid to come over to a foreign country, with so much pressure on him from the price tag and the fans hopes, he was, in my opinion, fantastic in that first season. From then, yes it has been very stop start, moments of promise followed by weeks not noticing him but in terms of what he has offered the squad during his time, I think he has been a decent player. Forget about what he is on a week, that's not up to him, if you got given thousands to sit on the bench for United, would you do it? Yes, so don't blame him for that.

Now I agree, I think his time is up, when a player comes in (and only when), then it's time for him to move on but when he does, I'm not going to slate him, he has been a part of a very successful period and I don't think that should be forgotten in place of people hating him because they want the best CM's in the world.

The way we are treating current players reeks of other clubs and isn't the United way.

He's not a useless waste of space. He's not good enough for United but a decent player.

People have been saying he'll definitely be off for years now.

There probably isn't too much advantage in shipping him off for a tiny fee unless someone comes in over January, and that isn't a given.

Forget the first team, he's struggling to make the bench. He didn't even get more than 2-3 minutes at home to Norwich in the league cup. If I remember correctly, his only start this season was against West Brom where we witnessed a truly awful midfield performance. Seems like Moyes has made his mind up and he has no future here, so we might as well get rid. If we got an offer in Jan, I bet we'll bite their hands off.

This I don't understand, why would you want him to leave even if he played well?

I didn't clearly explain what I meant so here goes, I don't think he'll play well during Carrick's absences, doesn't seem like a player who wants to catch any opportunity to impress the coach. The good performances he might produce will not be ultimately enough for him to become the player we needed him to become years ago. I'm extremely pessimistic regarding him as a player so this is why I don't see any future beyond this season for him. He should try to play for a club that will be more forgiving of his bad performances and that will allow him more playing time. I seemed to have some sort of personal hatred towards him, it's not the case.

That's fair enough, and I guess he gave us enough reasons to be pessimistic :(

This is what a lot of people look at the wrong way in my eyes. Our expectations on a player during the 2007/08 transfer window shouldn't impact on our view of a player today. Ok, I understand the point from a business side of things, what have we got for what price etc but instead of looking to see if the player has reached expectations that were placed on him 5-6 years ago. We should be looking at what the player offers now.

Now of course, if he isn't providing what we need, time to move on but a player should be judged on what he does now, not on if our hopes were met when we first signed him.

You're right EC but then again I remember Anderson of last season and he really didn't show any signs of improvement in terms of mentality, play etc etc ... Maybe this season he could become a top class player or a very efficient and useful Man Utd player, I just doubt it based on last season. I could be wrong tbh.

I doubt it. He'll never become a top player. The useless lump.

Last season he was playing well until he got injured against Reading?

I'm indifferent when it comes to Anderson but if he is taking up a place in the team ahead of bringing in a better option then let him go but like EC said, the comments in here are pretty bad. Got us sounding like Arsenal or Chelsea with all the abuse.

He's a clown....makes me laugh that he is probably up for a testimonial but has only played a handful of games.
