So, according to the rumour mill this morning... we're looking to get rid for around £8 million.

Which of course begs the question... who the hell is going to offer £8million for Anderson?!

Will probably get his chance today.

The last time we played him we lost to West Brom. At home. In an actual football match. With, you know, points and stuff.

Would like to see him start. Does quite well for us in the league cup.

To answer the original post. No. We have too many squad players not enough quality. We need to trim the fat in the next two windows. Pun not intended

Hopefully see him today. We shouldn't sell him at the moment purely because we're so short in midfield at the moment and if we have a couple of injuries we'd need him and I think he'd do a decent job if called upon.

I'll wager that Fellaini turns out to be at least three times the player for us that Anderson has, so it might not be that far off the mark.
I'm not saying Fellaini will be a bad signing. Just that 25m for Fellaini is about the same as asking for 8m for Anderson. Especially that if Anderson found the right club in the right country, he could be very useful for that club.

Well, I'm not a Fellaini fan at all. I wouldn't have bought him. But he's a decent player and he'll stay fit most of the time, so we'll get decent service out of him.

As for Anderson, he might well go on to another club and do well. It wouldn't stop me letting him go, though. He's going to go down as an enormous waste of money, for reasons already done to death on here.

Agreed with the first point however saying he will stay fit is just a guess. You can never predict the future in regards to injury and health.

The point on Anderson being a waste of money is fair but I will always jump to his defence. Yes, he was a big money signing (well kind of big) but I think our expectation and hope has clouded many opinions about him. As a squad player, I feel he has contributed quite well during his time and played a role. Ok, he didn't turn out how we wanted and for that money, of course we would have wanted that and ideally should have but forgetting the money and looking at what he has done, he has been a good squad player. Every club needs good squad players.

Personally I think he's been a pretty shite squad player for us. Half of the time he's not available, or not fit enough to start, and when he does play you have no idea what you're going to get from him. He's clearly very talented but without consistency it means nothing.

Fair point. However, I have always found some of the stick to be over the top and fitness issues aside always thought he has been decent. Not for the price we paid and what I hoped for but I can live with the signing.

He'll start tonight, put on a world beating display and people will be calling for him to start at the weekend. I'm sure we all know how that'll turn out though. He'll either pick up an injury before then, or put in another horror performance when we actually need him to perform in something other than the league cup.

He is?

Are we talking about Viv Anderson here?

Would rather he didn't start tonight. Absolutely no future at the club and how is still here is beyond me.

Fingers crossed QPR get promoted, or Roy Keane gets a job at a PL club.

If we get £8m for him I'd gift wrap him myself.

He's a really puzzling player. He's talented but seemingly very unfit most of the time. It begs the question, why would a team (especially one as big as United - it's not like he's irreplaceable) put up with a player who can't maintain their fitness. I really don't understand it.

We wont be for long.

Seems that way but it's taken a long time for the penny to drop. I actually quite like him and think it's a shame but it's just not acceptable if he can't stay fit. It's surely due to injuries. I can't imagine it's due to eating too much and generally being lazy - he couldn't be that unprofessional and still be around ?

I thought that until you see the players taking the piss out of him on Rio's Tour Diary when most of the others are sleeping and he's up munching crisps.

I still have hope he can contribute going forward though. Looked in better shape than he has previously in last weeks U21s game.

I like him too but he's not reliable enough to be a squad player. I do think that injuries fecked him up, the lad barely had a pre season with us during his entire tenure here but that cant be used as an excuse everytime. He's just not managed to get his stamina levels up, really is unacceptable not to be able to last 90mins anytime.

Moyes certainly seems to have a no nonsense approach to fitness which can only help him. You have to help yourself though and it's been going on too long for me to have any hope for him unfortunately.

I remember Rio's tour diary from this summer, where he's going round filming players on the plane. Most of them are sleeping, but Anderson's there eating a packet of crisps, and Rio yells "Oh my god, he's eating again!". I think he definitely loves a snack.

I think he has to go, as much as I do like him. He seems very likable overall, but he's not really very good at anything, other than picking the ball up deep and bringing it forward quickly. But even then, he plays like he's playing FIFA and he's held down sprint for a couple of strides too many, and the defender scoops up the loose ball. Pretty much always happens. A decent dribbler who doesn't know when to stop, dampened by his terrible passing and shooting, and general laziness off the ball.

Somehow, he's got 4 league titles and a Champions League medal. He's a mastermind con-artist.

In Fergie's book his brother Martin (chief scout) went to watch Anderson for a month and came back saying he is better than Wayne.....

It's a shame it ended up like this but we can't be doing with any hangers on.

I haven't really noticed, is Moyesy giving Fred the Red the same sort of high five handshake Fergie used to, or is that not his sort of thing?

You new internet fans, you really don't give a hoot about the nuts and bolts of the club.

Arruda says he was among the best young talent he's seen at porto. just a shame how it went really.

I think his exact words were "He could be bigger than Wayne". Fergie heard what he wanted to.
