Ander Herrera is a Manchester United Player!

It must be bullshit. To save face. I refuse to believe they walk in 'oh err hi we're from Manchester United' and they don't question it? Try and reach someone at the club? They just say SEEMS LEGIT and then start debating?

It's in the news all day and Moyes/Woodward doesn't think to phone them and let them know? Surely it's fraud, they'd be arrested. It makes no sense.

What does that even mean? Were we not really trying to sign Herrera, we just had a bunch of bellends going around telling people they worked for United? And no one from the club thought to question it?

Nope, they were busy arranging a loan deal for Nick Powell.

If they were impostors, surely they'll be arrested?

We could have used the extra money we spent on Fellani, and used it for this lad, if we'd bought Fellani a month ago

I want to cry. I really do.
I know how you feel, how can the people in charge of one of the world's biggest football clubs can be so incompetent?

The idea that we would invent a bullshit story about imposters that makes us look ridiculous as some sort of PR move is insane.

SSN: Utd officials didn't think the buy out clause was accurate, wasn't good value. They still admire player & may go back in January.

fecking ridiculous.

Good luck reasoning with Bilbao over a player. You'll get more leniency out of Al Qaeda.

But the idea that we didn't say anything about it until the end of the transfer window, makes us look ridiculous as well. It also makes the guys at the La Liga offices look like absolute retards if they didn't even verify that the 3 people who randomly walked into an office in Spain claiming to be representing people in England were from United. Randomly walk in to talk about a Spanish player.

tbf 36m is ridiculous for Herrera but then as a club we seem to have been left in the stone age in terms of what it takes to get players

Good luck with that one Ed :lol::lol:

But 4.5m over Fellaini's buy out clause is good value.

Cretins.

I dont think they were imposters. I think they lacked the power of attorney to act on Herrera's behalf and were therefore dismissed as imposters by the Spanish league. The Mirror says they tried to get the proof they could act on Herrera's behalf subsequently and failed, in part because of the price and the possibility we could get Fellaini anyways. So amateurish it beggars belief frankly.

Something fecked up has gone on alright. What would those 3 "imposters" have had to gain - other than mess that poor lad around?! It doesn't make any sense!

Surely United would have found out through all the various media outlets, that there was supposedly 3 Reps from the club sent over actin on our behalf - it was all over the net ffs. How could they have not known?

Its feckin convenient, that when it was being reported that the Herrera deal might not happen, that our late Khedeira bid was then turned down by Real - so that looked like desperation. Then we had the Fellaini transfer request being reported & him just scraping through the door - both United & player scrambling at the last minute.

A shitload of questions need answered about all this shite - I've never heard the like of it, especially at a top club like ours!

I'm going in January, think I can get Ronaldo for Doncaster Rovers?

 I genuinely hope this imposters story is true, it's the only thing that can make me laugh about our failure to close the deal rather than cry..

Maybe the La Liga offices did try to verify them. Maybe that was the 'bureaucratic problem' we heard about. The reports about imposters started cropping up in Spain, clearly not some sort of leak from us.

Sounds like they did that thing cnuts do when buying cars.

They ring up the seller, agree a price and then when they come to buy the car they bring £500 less and assume it'll be okay.

SSN saying they have more news on what went wrong shortly, shall post when I hear it. It seems we did meet the valuation but could not "agree a fair deal" with Bibao, although Herrera was very keen and prepared to take a pay cut to join us.

Potentially something to do with the ins and outs of this release clause and taxes.

My issue with it is why leave everything so last minute?

Exactly, we should have tried to do this earlier! Why wait to the last minute? Did we honestly think we'd get Fabregas with a Mickey mouse bid?

This is bizarre. I am a bit gutted about this with Herrera. He looks a decent player and certainly one which would do us a great deal of good. Him AND Fellaini would have put my mind at rest a bit with our midfield. We needed the two I think.

It baffles me why we left things so late on all fronts it really does. I am sure these negotiations can't be that difficult once you identify who you want. There seems to have been a hell of alot of indecision on our part. I am not sure Moyes and the staff know, or have had time, to select what they want to do properly.

Story of our summer really. We've spent the whole summer low balling and trying to get a "good deal" and then end up paying 4.5 million more for a guy we could've bought hassle free a month ago.

The imposters thing surely can't be true, why wouldn't the club just release an immediate statement seeing as it was all over SSN that we had three negotiators there?

Our email system was down. Must be because of the dialup internet shutdown that happened recently.

So his price will drop in January? If anything they rise so we'd most likely still have to pay the release clause.

Herrara is issuing a statement tomorrow so some details should emerge. The club should address this issue as well separately from what we have said about still liking the player.

If everything we've heard about this lad is true, we should be issuing him with an apology.
