How can this become any more farcial? I mean, physically?
I'm full of anxiety and anticipation for the up and coming sequel of Buy Hard 2 - should be released on 31th of January next year, just before midnight. Some Woodward bloke would be leading the cast.

What's this shite about everything being agreed but the money wasn't ready? How is that even possible? Did our cheque not clear in time? Was our overdraft not set up in time? Will we get a charge on our account for going over our spending limit?

Ballague was the first with impostors

why doesnt that suprise me?!

most likely we left it too late to sort out all the release clause stuff, I seem to remember it took Bayern weeks to get Martinez in a similar way - the lawyers were probably sent in to see if anything could be worked out to get it done quickly but apparently not.

Turns out Woodward's credit card wasn't cleared for bigger sums than 10 grand. By the time he got in touch with the Glazer's and got it fixed, the shit had really hit the fan, so to speak.

I told you lot earlier in the day that having just a Ballbag tweet to go on was always going to be risky.

They apparently weren't carrying Herrera's power of attorney, nor the correct authority from us. Which is why they were sent away from Liga HQ. They then failed to get the documents.

Imposters and chancers hoping to make themselves indispensable and somehow ripoff United? A law firm invited to consult but then overstepping their brief? All I can tell you is they haven't shown up on any late night comedy shows so far.

Weird.
Seems like either we've screwed up in leaving it up to people who don't have the authority to close a deal on our behalf or the lawyers we hired have fecked up in not finalising the transfer as we had asked them to.

Sorry to ask but do you know how the Spanish media reporting this? Any criticism of United?

Yeah blame them for thinking that United is bigger than the theatrics we've done today..

There is only one person to blame in this story, and he isn't a journalist.

LONDON, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera's proposed $47.5 million move to Manchester United turned out to be a hoax after three men attempting to broker the deal were labelled imposters, British media reported on Monday.
"Reports in Spain claim three men dressed in black suits and claiming to be United "representatives" spent an hour at the La Liga offices attempting to negotiate a deal. The move collapsed at the 11th hour," the BBC reported on the final day of the transfer window on Monday.
"Confirmation from Manchester United that three men who reportedly attempted to negotiate a deal to sign Ander Herrera were not acting on behalf of the Premier League champions and were... imposters," the BBC report added.
The Basque club last week rejected an offer which Spanish newspapers reported at $40 million from United for the 24-year-old Herrera, with the club's president Josu Urrutia adamant the Premier League side had to meet a $47.5 million buyout clause.

So these guys were lawyers but it's been confirmed by us that they were not acting on our behalf.

If we didn't sign this guy cause of 6 million euros I will be fuming. Waiting for details to be released tomorrow as to exactly what the heck happened.

So, when we come calling in January and he tells us to feck off, how will the Caf feel?

The officials working for our club are fecking cnuts. Impostors my ass, just a way to save their face.

IF this turns out to be true, then there need to be consequenses.

This is about more than missing out on a midfielder. The whole procedure of this disaster has the potential to damage United´s reputation, which already took quite a few hits in this absolute clusterfeck of a transfer summer.

I can not really speak of the general opinion in Great Britain, but in Germany United is becoming more and more a laughing stock and one of the biggest opinions is that with SAF leaving, United also lost most of their competence.

They certainly don´t make Moyes´ start easy.

You really have to laugh at the way we handled this. Everyone who knows anything about football (obviously not the inept twat Woodward) knows that Bilbao basically never sell their players for less then the release clause. What on earth was the point in offering 30million euros for him a few days ago, and then proceed to make it seem like we're willing to bid the release clause, only to later send lawyers over there try to bring the price down?? Seemingly Herrera thought it was all but a done deal as well and thought that the clause would be paid. I can't even imagine how he's feeling right now. Moyes and Woodward have said all summer how we can go after anyone and we have enough money, but we are so stingy that we aren't willing to cough up a few million to pay the release clause? A few million that we could have saved had we just signed Fellaini earlier on in the summer for his release clause?

This is absurd. If we've actually lied about this, we're going to look astonishingly pathetic.

What a fecking farce, he is the exact type of player we need and we feck around and miss out, and in the process we seem to have treated a proper club like Bilbao like shit, we've had a good relationship with them since the Babes played against them in the 50's. United come out of this looking like the cheap corporate whores they are, Twats.

Money was already earmarked for a new Mall in Florida

The 6m euros that could have been saved by just paying Fellaini's release clause.

As for the club, what a disgrace. A total joke from day 1 in this transfer window. I honestly thought we might have been able to get this done, but who cares? We managed to get a fair few sponsorship deals done over the summer. That's what matters.

This is probably the most embarassing part about it. We agreed every fecking thing in this transfer and then go back on our word and try to bring the price back down. Now also lying about the people being imposters. Disgraceful behavior by the club.

So we refused to pay another £500.000 not too sure about the currency could be in Euros which makes even more bazaar, but gladly over paid for Fellaini by £4m when we refused to trigger his clause and Everton did the smart thing and squeezed us out tonigh.

Nothing is making sense. I'm sure various statements tomorrow will shed some light.

I did have that feeling at several points today, it was like a bad game of werewolf at times reading between the lines. I have Gaz down as the seer after his tweet on Deadline Day being a tell for management incompetence.

Looks like there's a lot of confusion as to what happened. No point speculating now. It'll become clear in the next few hours and days.

I can't make any sense out of this whatsoever.

Indeed

Im certain that most of the stories doing the rounds about this are absolute bollocks - doesnt seem like anyone has a clue about what actually went on

It's the Peter Kenyon school of transfers. Herrera can get together with Ronaldinho for a pint.

So angry if all of this shit turns out to be true. Have we actually been too stingy? You see clubs like Spurs and even Arsenal spunking money up the wall and we won't fork out? The amount of cash coming from the new TV deals, the size of the club, the 'limitless' budget we supposedly had; I just despair.

So many different stories that I doubt the facts will never be known. Feel sorry for the player though as he seemed to want the move. I can't see us going back to Bilbao in January either if even half of what's being said is true.

Where do you think a good chunk of that money you mention is going?

Everyone involved in this transfer for United needs to go. Absolute disgrace.

The strange thing is if these guys were the ones spending a month or so sorting out the Javi Martínez deal, then surely As/Ballague/Bilbao/maybe even Herrera would have recognised them?

What's the story then?
  1. Hired by a third party to disrupt => then there should be consequences
  2. Chancers trying to get themselves involved in the deal => same
  3. Hired by Herrera to make things happen like they did with his pal Martínez => just fecking sign him to replace Woody then
  4. Hired by United and now we are trying to dissociate ourselves => consistent with how moronic we've been throughout the Summer
Must be four.

If this is true, Im shocked and fuming, this is not the way to conduct oneself in business, its the work of dirty scam men.

Really need to hear Bilbao's statement about this tomorrow. If

What about hired by United and it wasn't us who made up the imposter bollocks?
