Hes been wasted all these last few years under previous managers

He won player of the year a few seasons ago.

He is playing his role fantastically well at the moment. Imagine if we had a top top RB to bomb down the right as well .

Bilbao gave us a ready made player, just needed to be unleashed and we fecked it up for years.

Obviously I agree with that, just don't think that his stats tell the whole story about that. Imo, his positional sense is way off and he's also weak in defence (at corners and people dribbling past him as well).
Still think he can’t defend?

That's the best he's played for us in years, probably since LVG. He was immense today.

Very solid performance from Ander, which let Pogba abuse some of his job responsibilities. Hope he renews his contract.

At loss of words - he was incredible today.

Last game that came close to this match, was his performance against Chelsea, where he was man-marking Hazard.

Didn't put a wrong foot in. Even in the last minutes, he was still trying to bomb forward and try to start something, hence the cramp.

He's definetely up there as one of the most transformed players under Ole. I used to get so irritated with him, because he always chose the easy way out and pass backwards or sideways, but You can clearly see that the Ole's ''move the ball forward'' tactic has worked wonders with him. He shows more confidence in taking players on and always trying to look for that pass forward.

Hope he can keep this up. :)

He’s brilliant, underrated as far as I’m concered. Jose made a big mistake not to utilise him more.

Great performance today. His ability to escape and deliver pressure is absolutely crucial in the big games.

Great attitude and stamina, he always gives his best, 100% and nothing less.

Extremely likeable player, give him his extention.

Now aftee saying this, I still think we need to upgrade our midfield.

It's a simple case of actually having options to pass forward to. Ander likes to move the ball quickly, and if a forward pass isn't available he'll play the simple ball. Team restrictions were being confused with his Individual ability.

He'll never be the best midfielder in the league but he's so important to everything we do, such a shame we wasted some of his best years on the bench. Great player and I'm glad we have him, if it weren't for DDG he'd easily be my MOTM. In the form he's in, do we reckon he might end up getting a call up for the national side?

I want to see him sitting at that table, pen in hand with Ole and a new deal, such a vital part of that midfield 3, El Shuttleo!"

Love the lad. Always gives maximum effort and loves the club. He is the only one who is out of contract in the summer that deserves an extension. A vital player at the club.

I wouldn't be surprised if he runs home tonight.

True, but I do recall countless of moments when he did have the chance to pass forward, but didn't. Maybe can chalk it up to managers' instructions not to take any unnecessary risks? If to take into consideration what Rooney said about Mou's approach to the games and how some players were instructed to play (although we all knew it to some extent anyway).

His game is costing him so much energy. At his current level he deserves a new contract at Utd of course, but I doubt he can hold this level of running around and pressing like a mad man for another 3-4 years.

Similar to Running backs in the NFL, your chasers and ball winners in midfield need to be at their physical prime to be the most effective and they need to be replaced when they are over the hill. Both Juventus and Bayern shipped Vidal out when they realized his playing style has taken his toll on his body and they had the chance to get him off the wage bill.

Real Madrid has replaced a 32 years old Alonso with Casemiro and that move has payed off big time. I am pretty sure Ngolo Kante will not be a world class player when he is 33/34/35.

There are only a select few midfielders with the skill set to be still great when their physical qualities are below par (Pirlo, Carrick etc.).

He still has a few years left in his tank, so a contract extension and then he can move on at the end of it in his early thirties
