So much hate for him. It's as if some just waited for the opportunity to slag him off.

Any gifs of the second yellow around?
Only saw the first one, the obstruction , which to me looked yellow'ish, he definitely knew what he was doing.
Didn't do himself any favour by screaming into the ref's face after either.

I think most people on here like Herrera alot, but he let the team down today in my opinion.

Oh and he hit hard Hazard for the 1st? Yeah right... He nearly killed him..

I'm sure we'd all agree it's a yellow if a Chelsea player did that to one of our players.

It is. But he didn't 'hit him hard'.
I think there are some posters who don't like him or would get rid of him at the first chance.

Will be banned for the Boro game only, right?

I love Herrera probably my second favorite player in the team but I can admit he was an idiot today. When you on a yellow you don't give these crazy refs a chance to book. The way he has behaved this season in particular has probably got him a reputation for being nasty and always trying to get people sent off

The second challenge was silly and unnecessary. But still not worthy of being sent off when you consider what Oliver was letting go in the second half.

Had him bleeding. It was a good, intentional hit. I don't even have a problem with that foul and yellow as we were trying to hit Hazard at that point. But once you're in the book and you've gotten in the refs face over it, you don't go fouling the same guy again as he turns you (immediately after the ref stopped the game to talk to our captain about fouling that exact player).

And it will be a good day when he's a rotational player rather than a nailed on starter for our team.

All good. But when a foul for 2nd yellow shouldn't be a yellow at all..

So he should have just floated through the game and not gone near the opposition. If he had breathed on a Chelsea player they would have fallen flat on their faces.

You obviously don't rate the guy so you can't be objective on the matter unfortunately.

I hope the same ones knocking him for getting sent off are not the same ones who are complaining about the players' lack of effort or aggression in the post match thread. Two nothing challenges, and he gets sent off for it. Remember when football was a contact sport?

Isn't this a trait Herrera possesses sometimes in games though where he always looks like a red card waiting to happen? I love his passion and whether Hazard dived or not it was pure stupidity to go in on Hazard what in real time looks to have gone through Hazard, right? I can't be the only one who sees it like that.

Once again I don't see any rule which says he has to get out of Hazards way. He stands there he didn't move towards Hazard.

Think for first foul a yellow was justified but he did what he had to do. I'd argue that foul was needed. It was cynical but it was needed.

Second foul was never a yellow. Yeah he's a bit daft coming in like that but that wasn't a yellow card in a million years and only his second foul so how the feck was that a sending off?

I'm not a Herrera fan, but Oliver screwed him today.

2 very soft yellows. Nonsensical really.

You're not being honest with yourself if you don't think Herrera of all people wasn't intentionally standing there to hit Hazard. In full speed or slow motion, it is clear that any average person, let alone a professional football player and trained athlete, could have easily avoided that type of hit if they wanted to.

It is called obstruction, most of the time it's not intentional, and only a freekick, this one was clearly intentional, and Hazard came in high speed, i think yellow was fair.

He's escaped a 2nd yellow numerous times in previous games, he needs to be smarter with his decisions, maybe this was the wake up call and can learn from it. Hopefully.

Well Oliver made sure there were no Chelsea players in that position didn't he until late on.
It was clearly in our gameplan to literally foul their players, especially Hazard. The whistle was always going to be going against us with a gameplan like that, and it is on the players to realize this and adjust and keep their heads.

Another two soft yellows, as in the game against Burnley. He's playing a role this season where he'll always be in the thick of it and he can't stop playing as soon as he gets a booking. Players in his position get away with loads of fouls every game (our own Keane, Fletcher etc. too), but Herrera has been unlucky twice now this season.

Yep. If he didn't get it for that foul then he would have gotten one eventually. He would never have lasted the whole game. Reckless player.

Very unreliable players, they're good on their day but not enough, thought Pogba was better than last time round though but still..
Herrera has been one of our best players, Pogba has been awful apart from a couple of games. I know which one I would rather have and it isn't the self obsessed Frenchman.

As much as it was never in a million years a yellow card, the guy can't be trusted. I was anxious about him playing with a yellow so early and the inevitable happened.

If you asked me to choose between Herrera and Pogba, I'd choose Herrera every single time. Even Herrera's instagram account is more interesting.

In fairness Hazard is a quick little fecker and it was never a YC. The right thing to do was for Oliver to stop the game again and give him a lesson, that would have kept him quiet for the rest of the match.

You're not. Love the guy but seen it coming a mile away. Brain dead. Complete idiocy. Such a poxy foul as well.

This is unbelievable. Sent off for two soft yellow cards - I don't think either should be given. The first one is debatable but the second is a load of crap - a normal ref would say next time you (Jones) make a foul, you're getting a yellow - not the next time Hazard gets fouled, the player gets a yellow. Ridiculous refereeing and it was barely a foul.

What's worse are some of the comments in here - he's been one of our best performers this year, one awful refereeing decision and he's now brainless and was never good enough.

I didn't say he didn't mean it, my point is in the rules you don't have to get out of the way. It also doesnt say you can be booked if a player runs into you, Hazard looked at him and ran straight at him
