There was no need for either foul. And they were both clear fouls, whether or not they merit a booking. That's what's so fecking stupid. I like his cynical streak but you can only be cynical if you're smart and that was dumb as a bag of rocks.

Thats my frustration of the entire episode: neither intervention saved us from any particular threat.

He has a tendency to lose his cool.

What exactly was he supposed to do in the first situation? He wasn't even in Hazard's way, incredible.

Both were fouls. It's like his brain stops working. The ref has just pulled up Jones for hauling Hazard down again. In a normal situation you back off let it calm down. Not Ander straight in and gives the ref no alternative. I love Herrera but some of his decision making in games is shocking

Interceptions and short passes are Ander's strength, not tackles. Even with interceptions, he should have been very careful with a tricky customer and someone as good as Hazard. Herrera isn't a natural defensive midfielder so while his industry and ability to get stuck-in may work well again mid-team players, a player like Hazard waa always going have a field day making Herrera commit and drawing out fouls.

Another reason why we really need a proper defensive mid if we are to go to toe to toe against some big names. None of our players, apart from Herrera, have looked like being able to put in good tackles throughout the course of this season. We're always pulling players down, sticking legs out and fouling and giving away cheap free kicks. And like I said, even Herrera is not going to have a good time doing the defensive work againt tricky players.

Some idiotic comments on here. Stupidity isn't a yellow card offense. Nor is failing to read a referees mood.

The player actually has to actually commit a yellow card offense to get booked and he clearly didn't with that tackle.

Oliver let foul after foul go and then suddenly gets harsh on the one player who was on a booking so that he could send him off. It's shameful.

Bad enough that he's reduced our chances tonight from about 10% to 1%, but now he misses the next 2 league games as well.

This gets better!

They were fouls and the second one came at a moment when the ref was more likely to hand out a card. Might have arguably been a harsh sending off but it was definitely a stupid sending off on Herrera's part.

Still, niggly cynicism is part of Herrera's game and you can only get away with that for so long without getting sent off.

Its not shameful. Thats hyperbole.

Debatable sure, but it can be argued both ways.

Refs are human, and one of the advantages of being at home is that you have your fans putting tonnes of pressure on the ref.

Hazard was getting fouled and going down loads, and Oliver had just made a massive thing of pulling Smalling over to talk about Jones latest foul.

And then Herrera chops him 10seconds after!

That second foul it was crazy to do it at that time. Especially when Jones was fouling hazard every 10 seconds and ref was clearly pissed off.

100% deserved. Some of you lot are deluded.

That isn't a yellow card offence. If you think it is then you should take up tiddlywinks instead.

Criticising Herrera is fair game, however, any suggestion that it is infact a yellow card offence is just plain wrong.

The formation fecked him.

He was asked to do a feck load running in midfield what with us playing 3 CBs and 3 FBs.

Exactly. The timing was monumentally stupid and not every foul is identical. When a referee has called the captain over to warn about repeated fouls of one particular player then he has every right to book the next player who fouls him.

It wasn't a yellow so he was wrong to give it. Refs job is to enforce the rules, not lose the plot.

Why do so many of you like it so much when Herrera is drawing yellows on opponents with his cnutish antics, but can't see he just got beat at his own game here?

He's not a leader yet by any means. Doesn't know how to keep his head when there is a lot of chaos around him. Every single player on our team should have known before the match started that Oliver would only allow the fouls for so long, and then it would be stopped. Really really stupid from Ander and a lack of composure from the team overall.

Can't believe how many think Oliver was just out to get us. Grow the feck up.

Yeah stupid from him to get yellows for 2 fouls not yellow worthy at all. Stupid.

Always been too rash, got punished for it today, some really stupid fouls.

I don't know if you're one of them, but plenty of posters here talking out of both sides of their mouth. When Herrera is getting away with it, he's just a crafty dirty player. And when he's not getting away with those same people saying he's innocent. Give me a break. There shouldn't be a person on here that thinks Herrera wasn't trying to hit Hazard on that first foul. And he did hit him hard, even if he made it look like he wasn't trying to.

And then the second was obviously a foul a few seconds after the ref warned the team about the constant fouls on Hazard. Take off the red glasses if you can't see that.

What absolute bollocks some of you come out with. Yes. Lets get rid and leave
'going for a Sunday stroll' Pogba in there. He is the disgrace. He is bone idle and we have wasted £89m on him.

Pogba was looking good and getting the better of Kante until we went down to 10 because of the headless chicken.

Some of you are so fickle. Go support Chelsea and then your wankfest of Kante would be justified. Instead of supporting our player who's been wrongly sent off, you are waxing Kante's lyricals.

We should have signed Kante. Him with Herrera and Carrick would have been great.

Tell me. Can a ref say he'll give a yellow whoever fouls a certain player next?

Stop it with that red glasses crap please.

Oh and he hit hard Hazard for the 1st? Yeah right... He nearly killed him..

Should be grovelling to his teammates tonight. Don't want to see him on Thursday. Cannot be trusted. Second time this season.

But this is said to be one of his biggest traits? I mean, the running, the engine part?

Plus it wasn't really 3 FBs, the formation was so fluid that depending on the phase of the game one of the CBs or FBs came into midfield and Herrera went higher up the pitch.

He's headless. He fouls numerous times in idiotic positions, done that ever since he got here, didn't change a tad after 2 years.

No way either of those fouls were worthy of a yellow.
Ridiculous sending off.
Ref ruined the game.

Hazard was basically falling down every time he felt contact if he couldn't accelerate away and the ref bought it every time, Herrera was stupid to go near him so soon after Jones warning but it was never a second yellow, ref bottled as the cnut Conte was on it all the time on the touchline.
