Amy Winehouse has passed away

Similar to Hectic really. It's always sad when someone dies but I find it hard to have any sympathy for her. I do, however, have great sympathy for those she left behind.

Why exactly was her death inevitable? It's a bit like saying Ozzy Ozbournes death was inevitable back in the '70s. Anyways R.I.P.

Death is inevitable for everyone.

If someone takes drugs and that`s the reason for the death then i`ve no sympathy at all.

Do you ever drink? Cigarettes and alcohol are drugs and kill more people in England each year than all illegal drugs put together.

Don't be a dick. If someone dies, it's a sad day. Noone's asking for your sympathy or for you to swan in to tell everyone that you have no sympathy.

Also unless I've missed it, her cause of death has not been revealed.

Her albums will go multi plat now (if they hadn't already).

I really liked Valerie. She did great on that track.

It's always a waste when someone dies so young even if she was foolish. RIP.

I`m leave this thread now.

Let's all smoke crack people! Yay!

Yeah only that's not what I said is it? No. :) On that note though do whatever you want mate, and when/if you die I'll say RIP. Don't worry I won't be a dick and say your death is insignificant. Good luck to you.

If I die before you, will you retell the legend of when I ate an epic burger and two pizzas in one sitting?

That's a bit of a flawed argument considering massively more people drink alcohol and smoke. If everyone who enjoys a few beers also smoked crack then the crack would kill a great deal more people than alcohol and tobacco do.

Still, as you say, it's always sad when someone dies so young - no matter the circumstances. She was hugely talented, it's such a waste. RIP.

Love her or hate her , 27 is no age to die.
She was her own worst enemy , to much drugs and drink , it was always odds on that she would be found dead at a young age.

Such a sad waste of a talented singer

RIP

That, I will never understand. You die when your time is up, the rest is meaningless

Ah this was my call in work today, RIP

Watching rolling news on the day a famous person has died is almost entirely pointless....It's the complete epitome of that bit Charlie Brooker did on Newswipe about how Live coverage works....Absolutely nothing is happening, and yet we're having nothing described to us in minute detail anyway. We're now onto reading out people's Tweets with frequent cut backs to someone live on the street to confirm that, yes, she is indeed still dead.

I'll make sure it goes down in history.

My point was that when someone says 'I have no sympathy for anyone who dies doing drugs' it's a.) hypocritical because cigarettes and alcohol are drugs and I've never seen anyone post a comment for someone who died of cancer saying 'dirty smokers, don't get my sympathy.' and b.) pathetic, it's essentially saying ' this person deserved to die for taking drugs' etc when it's a lifestyle choice they've made a bad decision with, it doesn't mean their death is okay or any less tragic, when there are people dying in their masses every year from things we all enjoy doing on a night out i.e smoking and drinking.

It just seems a bit pathetic, devaluing a death because of a lifestyle choice.

Turn it off, TURN IT OFF!!!!

Same here.

I'd be more sympathetic if it transpires that she had some genuine reason for becoming addicted. Something really bad in her life that provoked it.

Or did she just become addicted through boredom, or for kicks?

Don't get me wrong. I think it's very sad, but she always gave me the impression that she didn't give a stuff. If that wasn't the case, it does cast a different light on it, but on the surface, she always looked like a waste of talented space.

Yep, it's utterly pointless. People call in saying the same thing, just in slightly different ways, while they show looped footage of her doing insignificant things like walking in the street or chucking a cigarette.

Why exactly was her death inevitable? It's a bit like saying Ozzy Ozbournes death was inevitable back in the '70s. Anyways R.I.P.

Agreed, there's nothing inevitable about drug addicts dying young. More likely than other folk but by no means inevitable.

She has a history of self-harming so I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out not to be an accidental overdose. That's pure speculation on my part, though. Real shame either way. She had a rare talent.

Have you ever seen that clip of the Sky News presenter bloke who was reading out text messages around the time of the General Election? They obviously hadn't been vetted or a few had slipped through and he starts reading one that seems innocuous enough and then suddenly he stops, laughs nervously and says "Er...I don't think I can read that one before the watershed....or possibly after". He starts scanning the screen or whatever he was reading from and after a few seconds says "No, nor that one either.....actually we'll come back to these in a moment".

I waited quite a while. They didn't come back to it.
