Could be damaging if its revealed she discussed proprietary (classified) information. Lot of ifs though.
But nothing can be proved can it? She's hardly going to handover personal emails.

You never know with these things. Whether its a real issue or whether its a ginned up controversy by the opposition, designed to lower her Presidential momentum etc. I suppose we will know more after the dust settles.

But seems undeniable that she did use a personal account for official business. The question here is what anyone can do about it, surely.

I doubt it would be an issue if she just used a personal account for business. It whether or not proprietary information was shared on an open email account (ie classified information etc).

really? I'd probably get fired if I did that with my employer, let alone run the foreign affairs of a major superpower!

Can't believe this was allowed to happen. Even crazier Candelisa Rice didn't use email (i call bs on this one) and Powell used personal email. My opinion is personal email should never be used in public office and all email should be undeletable for archives and freedom of information . I know some who delete email older than a few weeks.

Alright, close the prisons no more of 'em gayers to go on about marriage anymore.

Petraeus pleaded guilty to sharing classified information with his former mistress.

. . . and the Republicans bring in the leader of a foreign country to address congress behind their own president´s back and without his consent, in order to scupper Obama´s foreign policy with Iran. Business as usual for patriotic right wing America, treasonous in any other country.

Obama (or a black guy) is president, nothing is out of bounds for these Republicans. When you can sit on the night of your new President's inauguration plotting to screw him over for the next 4 years then you have ZERO credibility thereafter. The problem isn't the Republicans though, it's the asswipes that vote for them consistently.

Haven't looked into it but have seen reports that Jeb Bush also used personal email during office and there's no fury over it.

And some far right sites claiming the Clinton emails will prove she's in cahoots with Muslim Brotherhood.

150,000 sign treason petition on US Republican letter to Iran

Jon Stewart does state it's not the first time senators have backdoored a sitting President. Pelosi did so in 2007 although she visited the Syrian president versus inviting him to the US and then sending a letter with 46 additional signatures. Nonetheless, this is a great example of the double standards exhibited by politics and media. The odd thing that the right seem to miss is that Reagan did his own EO with Iran and Stewart touches on this.

I'm posting this in both the Religion and American politics thread as it crosses both thresholds.

Casting out demons: why Justin Harris got rid of kids he applied pressure to adopt
Rep. Justin Harris blames DHS for the fallout related to his adoption of three young girls, but sources familiar with the situation contradict his story and paint a troubling picture of the adoption process and the girls' time in the Harris household.

Chelsey Goldsborough, who regularly babysat for the Harrises, said Mary was kept isolated from Annie and from the rest of the family. She was often confined for hours to her room, where she was monitored by a video camera. The reason: The Harrises believed the girls were possessed by demons and could communicate telepathically, Goldsborough said. Harris and his wife once hired specialists to perform an "exorcism" on the two sisters while she waited outside the house with the boys, she said.

Multiple sources who interacted with the family confirmed Goldsborough's account that the Harrises believed the children were possessed, and another source close to the family said that Marsha Harris spoke openly about the supposed demonic possession.

:wenger:

I never said America was perfect but it certainly doesn't have to be to be 'democratically superior' to Russia.

True.

That's not the choice. They are two of many choices running. Its the people who decide which of them gets nominated and elected. So yeah, Democracy my arse.

Just an amazing coincidence that they are the front-runners then, out of 300 million. Or some sort of superior family genetics, perhaps?

They haven't even announced they are running yet. :wenger: And even if they do at some point, they still have to compete with all the other candidates.

I am sort of wondering will a Bush v Clinton showdown electrify the voting base or lead to a lower turn out than normal?

I'd imagine it will be slightly lower than normal. Jeb is not the kind of guy who can energize the Republican base and get them to turn out like Reagan did, nor is Hillary the type to energize the Dem base. She will get a good number of women to turn out but there is also a progressive wing that think she's two centrist and would prefer an Elizabeth Warren type.

I think that in itself could be an issue if it is found out some were not turned over. I heard someplace she can use her personal acct but has to archive and turnover all emails relating to her position in govt. not 100% sure that is true though

But how can Cruz run for president if he wasn't even born there? I thought the president had to be born in the US.
