This old chestnutIt’s mad that you think you know better than a whole team of professionals who have been working in football their whole adult lives.

This was really the only time he's shown an all round performance, ie creative, goal threat, tidy in possession and did his defensive work. Let's not pretend that's all those 3 did all season, it's far more nuanced than that. It's not off one performance but his loan time and the few minutes of what've we seen though.
But let's take your pick under the context of what we've seen this season.
ETH's managing of the squad this season with the continued suicidal 4-2-4 formation and seeing Garnacho, Rashford and Antony's spamming of shots/dribbling into players game after game is fully justified and the very best of what he could have done or the possibility Amad would have been a better option than the few opportunities and minutes he's seen this season?
Both are subjective opinions and we'll never get a definitive answer on this but we're 8th and just had one of our worse season ever.
I mean, I don't know about you but I don't think anybody is holding their breath or bewildered if I was to say 'yeah mate, I think Amad could have had a lot more minutes and ETH's managing of him has not been good'.
No, Ten Hag had less than nothing to gain, he's just really stubborn and probably a bit of a shit manager based on the evidence at united.Setting up a team and tactics have nothing to do with managing a young player’s career. You’re both taking about completely different things to me. Sure, it might have been more beneficial to us right now to have Amad playing more minutes, but is it best for his career. Are they trying to change some behaviours or physical issues. Are they trying to ease him in because of his injury issues.
It’s mad that you think you know better than a whole team of professionals who have been working in football their whole adult lives. Ten Hag has nothing to gain from keeping him on the bench for no reason, especially when needing results.
yuh, it’s just been so obvious for months for anyone with a brain cell that he should have been given chances ahead of Rashford and Anthony who have stunk the place out all season. People were looking for reasons like downplaying his impact at Sunderland or suggesting Ten Hag must not fancy him in training. Nonsense really and in actual fact not even relevant considering how fecking bad Antony and Rashford have been. It’s not even just one game with Amad. It’s this game, the Liverpool game, all his cameos where he has just looked better and more decisive than Anthony and Rashford. He’s quick at making decisions in the final third, whether that be passing shooting or dribbling. There’s no fecking about, running around in circles, hesitating to make passes like those two clowns we’ve played all season. But we all agree that the club is run like shit and the proof is in the performances and lack of silverware, I thought the consensus is because the structure put on place by the Glazers is not fit for purpose, yet we're supposed to trust this structure?
Ten Hag has proven himself to be stubborn as a mule, Amad should 100% have been given more opportunities this season, I think you'd have to be mad to suggest otherwise.
I can’t see it . Rashy is backStart him in the cup final please.
People were jumping through hoops to defend the managers shitty decisions and for some reason are still doing so now. It's weird, was the best player in the championship and whenever he played for us (even through limited minutes) you could clearly see solely on technique he's one of our best players. I don't recall him having a particularly bad game for us either. So I don't know where all the doubters came from, he clearly deserved more chances than he's had.
You do remember who equalised for us in that game, right?yuh, it’s just been so obvious for months for anyone with a brain cell that he should have been given chances ahead of Rashford and Anthony who have stunk the place out all season. Sure fire starter in the cup final for me.
It's been incredibly obvious for a lot of people on here, I'm surprised people are still defending the managers decision.yuh, it’s just been so obvious for months for anyone with a brain cell that he should have been given chances ahead of Rashford and Anthony who have stunk the place out all season. Nope. Too injury prone. Sell Sancho and Greenwood. Unfortunately I can't see anyone taking Antony off our hands unless it's a loan. That move when he got a 1 2 on the right of their box and nearly walked it in reminded me a bit of Messi! Couldn’t get the shot away though.
Definite potential there. Him and Olise for the right wing next season?
Sell Sancho and Antony.
Don’t think there’s any chance of that happening but hopefully he starts Brighton game.Start him in the cup final please.
Really? Sunderland seemed a great loan and he was injured till xmas. Since then he’s had to seriously show his quality to get minutes and now he’s got himself in the team, exactly the well youth players should.
He’s better than Palmer when fit though, and it could have just been a blip. I’m sure most of us would bite Chelsea’s hand off if we could sign Palmer for 60m. Let Amad come off the bench and play cup games etc.Nope. Too injury prone. Sell Sancho and Greenwood. Unfortunately I can't see anyone taking Antony off our hands unless it's a loan.
It’s strange that you, with your psychic powers, should be surprised by anything aye? It's been incredibly obvious for a lot of people on here, I'm surprised people are still defending the managers decision.
You and I have hugely differing views on Palmer. I think he's level above Olise when they're both fit. He’s better than Palmer when fit though, and it could have just been a blip. I think before the last two games he hadn’t really done a huge amount in his cameos, and it’s probably more that posters were so determined to suggest he’d done really well.
Sometimes it might be wise to think that the club and Ten Hag know more about how to manage a player than we do.
Someone posted a stat last night that Olise is the highest rated winger in the league who has played more than 400 minutes or something like that. He was ahead of Palmer in that list, who was second. You and I have hugely differing views on Palmer. I think he's level above Olise when they're both fit.
I do agree we could do with a RW to compete with Amad (if we can sell 2 or 3 other wingers first) but I'm tired of seeing us sign injury-prone players. Same goes for Isak up front as well.
Antony is controlling that ball and curling it into the east stand
I'm surprised by lots of things, people doubling down on shit opinions shouldn't but always does. It’s strange that you, with your psychic powers, should be surprised by anything aye?
You didn't really say that did you? Decent?Yes that was a completely accurate statement.
He was very good today which I'm delighted to see.
That was my first reaction when the ball flew in! I almost forgot we could have a RW capable of hitting a ball with power. To be fair to Antony, he may have weakly passed it into the keepers arms
You didn't really say that did you? Decent?
I'm sure I've seen numerous Sunderland fans saying Amad is the best player they've ever seen playing for their club.I think I said good then quantified that a good loan in the Championship is at best a decent indicator of what will happen if that player returns to a top half Premier League club.
Let's be honest, Jack Clarke has been Sunderland's talisman this season more so than Amad was. If we sign him in the summer are we going to be raving about it being a great move and him needing to play? No.
Jack Clarke isn't half the player Amad is. Amad does need to play. He's our best right sided option.I think I said good then quantified that a good loan in the Championship is at best a decent indicator of what will happen if that player returns to a top half Premier League club.

Oh I've seen Jack Clarke play plenty.I imagine you've never seen Jack Clarke play tbh.
Let's see if he can prove that by being better than neat and tidy when given opportunities for us. He was very good today, his best performance for us.
If players play better than they have then my opinion on them raises. I hope mine raises exponentially.
If he had put on a blue shirt 4 years ago instead of a red one, I think he could have been in and around Foden level. At the time he joined, he was so highly rated in European football, and with the right environment and development, there’s no telling what he could have become.
We really need the guys off the pitch to implement a pass and move playing style and culture in the club, I’m tired of players of high technical ability constantly described as ‘would suit/excel at City’ but not here. We need a footballing environment that allows Amad’s, Bernardo’s, Mata’s, Foden etc to blossom. I’m hoping Ashworth and Wilcox set about this as a priority.
It was simply unbearable having to watch Antony get so many undeserved minutes when we had Amad kicking his feet on the bench and never being even given a shot. We all saw at Sunderland, at the very least, he had potential and you can't fulfil it sitting on the bench. He may not be the answer on our right wing but he's the solution for now.
Oh I've seen Jack Clarke play plenty.
Amad has been better than neat and tidy on more than one occasion. I wish some of our other players were merely neat and tidy.
Perhaps you're just a poor judge of talent because Amad is a lot better than you realise.
No need to bow, but credit to you for your humility. Top clubs? He was signed by Manchester United for a significant amount of money. Better still, he's actually worth the investment we made.I bow to your superior knowledge. Thank you for the education, I suppose that is why so many top clubs were fighting for him on loan before he went to Sunderland.
