When they say "illness" in footballers what does that actually mean? Is it toncillitus or food poisoning or something else?

Some kind of bug going around, worst I’ve seen in my lifetime. I’ve had it over Christmas, as have most of my family. Almost everyone in my office has come down with some kind of illness over the last month or so. It’s pretty crazy. Wasn’t Covid for me, maybe just the flu, I didn’t take a test but I’ve had Covid twice and it wasn’t quite the same. It had me bed ridden for three days last week and I’m still coughing even now.

So I’m really not surprised to see an increase of absence through sickness in players at the moment. I’d say we can probably expect a few more too.

I'll Is better than injured but feck me he has no luck.

Also we need to investigate why we have multiple players out I'll every week.

No other team has this problem

This guy has the absolute worst luck. Ill isn't a big deal but like... I'm already questioning his durability anyway, and it's something we have to evaluate. Shame he's not able to play today.

Granted it was in a lower league but the Championship is far from easy for a young kid and it was the manner of his performances that really stood out for me.

Sure, it's a step-up but he has absolutely nothing to worry about technically, his technical level is as good as anybody in our team in my opinion.

It will be the physical side, mainly defensively/without the ball, that defines whether he's a "top" player or just a good one
Yeah that’s right. Skill / technique is no problem for him. Would love to see him get a run in the team and find out how he copes in the PL.

I'm sure you mean this as two separate points but you can't really consider illness when discussing his durability. I know loads of people who have been ill this winter but it's definitely bad timing.

At least based on transfer market website it doesn't seem like he is injury prone or anything like that https://www.transfermarkt.com/amad-diallo/verletzungen/spieler/536835

Feels hard to believe that he didn't get any niggles away on loan, so maybe that's just missing things? He was at United for half a season in 21/22 and been half a season now, so in a full seasons worth of games for us, he's missed 38 United games through injury. That's really bad. Could just be bad luck especially if he was fine while on loan, but his past year at United he's missed a full season of football.

We are going to blow it aren't we, all that good he did at Sunderland and boosted his value to about 30 million will quickly be forgotten if he gets little game time this season and we will be back to having to take huge loss on him

Bit dramatic. He's been available for 1 game this season and he's featured in it. I'd imagine he's rated very highly by the club and his career with us is only getting started

There's lots of chatter at Championship clubs that Diallo is going out on loan but having watched him play against against Forest that sounds a bit crazy to me. He looks like he is ready play Premier league level.
Will he get a chance under ETH in the second half of the season ?

I don't think he'll go out on loan.

Did we find out why he wasn’t in the match day squad yesterday then. Was it just down to illness?

told ten hag he was too good to play against the likes of wigan and will only contemplate pulling the shirt back on when we are challenging for the champions league.

It's possible, but with Sancho and Pellistri going, Amad is probably going to stay at this point.

Rashford and Garnacho are probably first choice wingers, but both are relatively inconsistent (with Rashford still yet to get fully going). Amad is most likely competing with Antony to be the first one to replace one of the two in the starting XI during poor periods of form.

Think Mount coming back adds a little bit of competition, as I envisage Fernandes might play wide sometimes to accommodate Mount in the middle, but generally speaking I imagine Amad will be retained for the season.

Damn! Same here all over UAE. I’ve been coughing for 3 weeks with running nose, body ache for 2 weeks. Antibiotics nor home remedies working. Lots of cases like this at work

We'd be as well as selling him if we are going to loan him again.

Do we know why he wasn't in the squad? Still I'll or going out on loan?

We could have used him today.

For his own personal development a loan would be best, but I don’t think we’ll loan him — I genuinely think he gets first team football with how hopeless our wingers are, if, he can actually stay fit.

Yup agreed for me I'd love to see Garnacho and Amad as our wingers. Antony and Rashford are playing horribly. Pellistri is decent but not at the same level.

Must’ve been well off the pace not to make the bench. We had 2 keepers on it which is bizarre. Surely better to have U21 players on the bench rather than an extra keeper.

I think this is typical hag when bringing in a young player. Plays a game, few games gap, then he comes back in again. Mainoo, garnacho, hannibal, kambwala all had the treatment. I think hag judges the return based on mentality, what that scale is who knows. I'd expect to see him back on the bench in a few gameweeks, if not the next.

No games for the next two weeks.

If he had covid or the flu/whatever respiratory bug has been going around, he wouldn’t be 100%. If it’s Bruno or someone more critical to the first XI they’d come back early, but makes sense with Amad. He’s been out for ages too. This is one instance where I’d say I agree with Ten Hag.

Please no.
We need his creativity.
Awful news, genuinely good enough to start for us and more suited for the team rather than individuality
More then likely a loan.

Quite funny how this reluctantniko - is palmed off as unreliable when it’s a transfer to Man Utd, but when it’s a player on the way out, it’s seen as gospel.

Hopefully not. I think he’s ready for a low PL / Europa league level loan if we let him go at all. He should be making a claim for first team here if he’s got a chance at all given the terrible form of the rest. If he can’t do it this season he’s probably doomed if we make any more signings

Good move I think

Another mid-season move. Will take him a while to adapt.

Get the feeling that ETH doesn't quite fancy him -- got rid of Sancho, and possibly Pellestri soon. And now loaning out Amad.
From being stacked on the RW to now being left with Antony and Mount, both ETH signings, left.

The right move as I said a month or so ago.

People think he's going to get in ahead of Garnacho and Antony are way off the mark, he's been our for half a season and needs regular gametime.

Horrid. Not to mention he’s managed to crash us out of two competitions so early in the season — limited cameos does nothing for Amad’s progression.

He’s too good for the championship. Not really sure what this will accomplish.

I hope it's not true.

Garnacho's taken over on the right, but I'd still rather we have Amad taking Antony's minutes.
