Altay Bayindir | signs for United

Kovar wanted regular football but also there is the FFP calculation.

Both are 5M but the money from Kovar goes straight into the accounts but we can amoritize the fee for Bayindir. Presumably that means 3-4M surplus in this years accounts which figures as we are trying to scrounge together the money for another midfielder and it will probably be a few deals like this that pay for it. Hopefully Heaton stays as number 2 and Onana is never hurt.

That is a good explanation mate. Thank you… I agree with you, hope Heaton stays fit as 2nd choice then Altaycan stay as 3rd

Can’t we just get Romero back?

He’s a back up keeper. Aslong as he can make Onana laugh couldn’t really care.

sensible move from the club. with hands like that, he won’t be assaulting any one.

Hi everyone,

Just registered today to give some info about Altay. I’m 40, Turkish, watching Turkish league for like 25+ years, supporting Fenerbahçe.

He came to Fenerbahçe 4 years ago and became the primary GK after our long time GK Volkan Demirel retired. The team wasn’t doing ok at that time but he was seen as a good prospect for the future so the supporters gave him credit for errors which he rarely made at that time. I’d give 6.5 points over 10 for him for that season.

His second season was a lot better and we were debating if he or Uğurcan (GK of Trabzonspor) should be starting for the National team. Fenerbahçe was bad again that year but Altay was ok. (7.5/10)

Third season, Fenerbahçe started well but they struggled and fell behind in league race; Altay was making mistakes but almost everyone were saying “he’ll be ok, he’s young, he’s talented” etc. (6/10)

Fourth season, we had high hopes with new manager, Jorge Jesus. Our striker (Enner Valencia) was scoring well, team had a good spirit, morales were high but Altay made some incredible mistakes, making us lose valuable points. And in big matches, he failed big time. Also he had an injury+got operated, missing like 3 months. (4.5/10)

This season, we have even higher hopes with new players (thanks for selling Fred to us) and the supporters’ credit for Altay was even lower. He played 2 matches, he made mistakes and almost everyone started to say last year’s replacement GK was better than him and he deserved to play instead of Altay.

That was his story with us.

what I can tell about his properties are,

+ he has long arms
+ he’s athletic and he can jump, must have a good vertical reach.
+ he can make impossible saves sometimes
+ good on one-on-one situations

- he’s emotional and doesn’t have mental strength, can demoralize during matches.
- he has bad feet, don’t expect good passes
- he goes up front even if his defender is with the opponent player, this confuses the defender and creates chaos for the team.

Must be one of the worst lowlights I've ever seen of a player.

Hopefully Onana stays fit.

Thanks for the feedback and providing some context. I'd say anyone can edit a blooper reel but his is fairly long, I'm sure he's not consistently doing those but cause for concern. At least there's no Arconada in there.

Our transfer ‘strategy’ really is just pick a name at random these days isn’t it.

Doesnt' strike me that way at all. If it was a lazy choice that has done the rounds in the PL, then maybe. But this is pretty obviously driven by the recruitment team, scouting, data etc and they think he's good enough and cheap enough to be a #2 or #3. It's probably not from Erik ten Hag and it's not someone you just stumble across at random.

I’d put more faith in picking a name at random then relying on our recruitment team tbf.

Hard to say when most of the signings are heavily driven by the manager. It's not necessarily the case that they'd have plucked out the likes of Antony if it wasn't for ETH. I think it's our antiquated strategy that is a bigger problem than having qualified scouts and analysts.

:nervous: :nervous: :nervous:

Maybe we should have kept Kovar.

It's almost too obvious isn't it?

Hendo out for £20mil
This lad in for £4mil over 5 year deal.

Creates £19mil in FFP room and gets rid of wages and a player that doesn't want to be here.

The sort of thing that if Brighton do it, its a genius move.
This. Close the thread.

They obviously don't have too much money to spend, and prospects that have a similar profile to Onana (like Suzuki) have been hard to find. They're also less likely to come and sit on the bench. City can do that with a guy like Ortega because he's guaranteed to win a few major trophies and enhance his own reputation in a really good team, so will have good offers to be #1 somewhere if he wants to leave after a few years.

We're literally just trying to find a body for training. I imagine Heaton would even start ahead of this guy when fit. He's a Ricardo, Van Der Gouw signing, happy to sit on the bench.

God forbid he has to play for any sustained period though.

Thanks for taking him.

Hey Guys a Fener fan here

I always read this forum. I am a United fan too. I want to write about Altay Bayindir I will be honest

Strength: He is very talented Gk. Tall, good reflexes, nice long shot stopper. He is good at One on one situations. Also he is very nice guy as a person. Unselfish and good caracter.

Weakneses: He is not mentally strong and could be broken after consecutive mistakes. One mistake could cause another. He sometimes can have issues against crosses. Last year He had a bad season. He is booed by fans. He is not coming with a good form

Fener’s last title win was 2014 and fans are very impatient. The fan pressure is huge ( more than any team in England). That is why Fener want a new gk

He is considered as a back up for United. This can be good for Altay too. He need some time to refresh his head. New club new country new challange better stuff. He definately has talent. Nice start 2-3 good games could carry him another level. He has chance to be first option at long period. He need a new start. He is worth to try if the fee is around 6-7 m euros

Thanks man!

Interesting post. If he has "bad feet" then surely thats a no from ETH. His keepers, evem no2 has to be able to play out from the back.

Selling Fred for 9m and buying this guy for 6m, more genius work from Manchester United's recruitment team.

He has decent feets, both long and short passing is pretty good not as good as Onana but pretty good

He is only 25 he can also improve aboıt that.

It's not often we sign a number 1 goalie who's happy to sit on the bench, obviously it's a huge step up for him but hope he can settle.

welp hopefully he is ready for duty by january with onana possibly being gone that month. Funny those who werent wishing onana injury when this is about the same essentially.

Sağol abi! Having an emotional goalkeeper with weak mentality is not really making me confident what so ever. Can't believe that we are trying to sign this guy. I wanted the first Turkish player in United to at least be half decent.

So this looks like it's done.
Must mean Henderson is being sold, more interested in the sale price for Henderson.

So we buy Altay…

For the amount we pay Fenerbahce they buy Livakovic who is a far superior goalkeeper than Altay…

What is the logic?
