All Time Premier League Fantasy Draft

We're going for a player who never consistently shone in Fergie's 4-4-2, but was very tasty whenever he played in a trio or didn't have to play second-fiddle to Keane. Slightly contentious I'm sure, but even a Veron-lite fits like a glove in our set-up.

Jay-Jay is an interesting one - I wonder both how people will rate him and how he's deployed. The latter will be key, I reckon. A player who could be absolutely brilliant on his day and who could easily work very well in the right set-up - but who could just as easily look a bit...irrelevant if the set-up is wrong.
 
...and Veron. Yeah. It's a gamble that one, but @Gio knows that very well, of course.

It's certainly possible to make a case for him in the right team - because every United fan on here who actually watched him play for us knows that he was pretty much night and day depending on who Fergie surrounded him with.

Question is as usual whether people will actually consider the arguments offered - or just go with "Veron? He was a failure at United and a famous one" and move on.

I hate 'em all...

No, I don't know actually. I have no particular favourites. Given the nature of this draft - where the true difference, IMO, will come down to how well the XIs are composed and balanced - I'll wait and see until everyone has a full team.

The last man drafted here could make a big difference - which is a very nice feature of the draft, I might add.

Am I the only one who thinks Veron is a very good pick. Clearly far from his peak, but there aren't many players with a greater passing range than him and at this stage that could be the final piece of the puzzle tactically.

There's two/three teams were I thought he would fit right in, Gio's being one of them.

I was hoping it would limit the "super teams" somewhat...especially early on, and even through reinforcements. Some of these drafts are nice to see players who wouldn't show up in an all time draft.

Gary Kelly for instance.

Especially as Gio says, they don't even necessarily need peak Veron for him to do a good job in there. Will be somewhat of a tough sell due to the rep he got here, and for being on some disparaging lists...but Gio will never do a bad job selling his team or players.

just because he played with a big man doesnt mean he cant play without him.....he possess all the qualities we need from a striker.

Someone's going to win the lottery in this round, there's a few bizarre omissions, but one in particular should have gone in round 6 or so at most. What do I know. eh? Whoever does get him will get him four turns later!

Well, yeah, he was the better half of that pair and remains to this day the only Englishmaan to get the European Golden Shoe. He was nowhere near as prolific in the rest of his career though.
 
Several unpicked players in the pre-PL (but still good) category who haven't been picked - and who are easily on par with players who have been picked, IMO.

Also a couple of pure PL'ers, including a defender who should be highly rated.

Several forwards too - but I expect they'll be picked up before it ends. The former two categories I'm more unsure about - could end up unpicked.

And no - I ain't telling. Would spoil the fun - for myself.
 
I thought this was par for a draft actually? The Cricket ones used to take nearly a month in just the draft process :lol:

Hasn't been uncommonly slow at all - but these people are junkies, they start sweating after fifteen minutes.
