Fletcher at his peak was great though
It's him, right?
Looking forward to some things in particular here:
* Seeing how Marty will use Barnes.
* Seeing how the whole gang of "definitely better before the PL era but still good" players will fare.
* Seeing whether Gio will be the one who finally makes Starfish shine properly in a draft.
He shone brightly for my Reality Team.

Yeah - shone brightly playing golf in Argentina, wasn't it?

Aha.
Just saw.In fairness, Pol had an as yet unpicked player on the right wing while Gio had Cristiano
Danger of not having much creativity with Hamann, Wise and Speed. Hard workers yes but killer pass, vision to dissect an opponents defense??... Can't leave it all to King Eric...

It's a solid team. Wise tends to get a bit underrated, but he's be perfect for the King to partner. Given 90 mins, they'll grind their way to a victory. Not a goalfest nor flamboyant, but they'll be difficult to play against. Plus, I think he still has not finished recruiting upfront.
I wasn't a fan of the Hamann pick. The best midfielder available at the time but definitely was overkill. A couple of speedy wingers with Speed and Wise in the middle and Eric in behind was looking very good.
Yups, Wise and Speed, or Eric himself for that matter... none of them scream diamond at me.
Yep, Dixon and Irwin definately don't scream diamond fullbacks either.
Luis Enrique ?sorry guys been working then gettn pissed myself i pick luis enrique.
can someone tag whos next please
Except that there aren't...any. A couple of them here or there right now and I don't really think they were draft quality players with 1-2 good seasons and the rest of them poor.I wasn't a fan of the Hamann pick. Both of them are overlapping fullbacks. I think that could work.Yep, Dixon and Irwin definately don't scream diamond fullbacks either.
He had 2 good seasons with Spurs. Surprised he lasted so long.Interesting pick with Davids. Not sure how that one will play out yet.

Been through some Spurs forums and the majority thought he was good. Enough for me.You might want to double check that "2 good seasons" bit. There's a reason he lasted this long. Imo at least. Maybe others will disagree.

In the home match against Aston Villa in January 2006, Davids suffered a hairline fracture to his fibula, and although this only kept him out for a month, he was unable to rediscover his form from the start of the season and his first year in English football petered out.
After much speculation, Edgar committed his immediate future to the club, in doing so turning down an offer to rejoin the club he started his career with, Ajax. However, first team opportunities in his second season were limited due to the emergence of younger talent such as Sjor Bepand Davids eventually returned to the Dutch giants on a free transfer in January 2007. (
I know in his second season Edgar wasn't great...
Aldo is not our captain. davids was finished before he came to us.
Davids left us being a bit limited, most people seemed to accept this.
Davids wasn't really much use on the pitch by the time he left, but I think his influence on the training ground and dressing room cant be overstated.
If Jol had played Davids in the middle where he made himself world famous instead of on the left wing then maybe he would still be here now running the midfield with the captain's armband. Bad tactical blunder by Jol IMO to play someone like him out wide.
Someone above has said he should have played in the middle - maybe, but it worked didn't it, and lets not forget there was no-one else as that time to play the left role.
He had to play Davids there because no one else could. We didn't have a natural left winger at the time so whenever we played someone other than Davids there they drifted inward leaving Annahnomoss exposed to counter attacks.
Last season he did not play much before Christmas, and we did not finally hit form until after he left and the bad atmosphere caused by his sulking dissipated. He spent most of the previous season chasing shadows and passing to the opposition.
No not at all, davids gave the ball away more than he kept it. He was way passed it before he signed for us.
Ed was never quite the same after that cracked shin or whatever it was, but the feckwits who slated his performances after that forgot he was turning out and playing through the pain because there was no-one else. Shame he and Jol fell out, but there was no disguising the fact that he couldn't keep up with the pace.
Maybe another part of the reason he looks good at Ajax again is cos he is sitting infront of the back four doing what he does best, rather then trudging up and down the left wing like was at WHL?
Liberty, I dont think you can solely put our near top 4 achievement down to davids, I think that award goes to carrick.
I think Davids' influence was more to do with his experience than his ability by the time he got to us. Whenever he actually played in the middle for us it wasn't a particular success and I think he was actually quite like Pat mustard in the way his poor control occasionally cost us.
I think both Carrick and Davids helped us do so well. I think Davids brought the experience, Carrick the technique.
Aldo is not our captain.
