yes you are right, my mistake. still don't rate him as highly as some do on here so i guess that where the dissonance is coming from
How many left wingers do you know of that performed better in the Premier League and are yet unpicked? Just give me a number.

the draft isn't just about left-wingers right? :)

see as an attacking left-sided player he is very good, but I would have thought some of the older players in other positions might have been picked ahead of him. but as i edited my earlier post, i wouldn't say that the third round is too early if you were looking specifically at attacking players to play on the left.

simply put i don't rate the modern players so much, but i understand his being picked so high.

ok?

20 more picks until my turn, and I'm expecting my shortlist to be decimated in that time. There's two players in particular I really want that I can't see lasting.

Player of the Season 01/02 (Comfortable on both wings)

Really?? #mostrandomcommentofthedraft!
it is not if you can understand context, but again the very understanding of context can be subjective when we consider the variety of cultures that we come from considering that perspectives can be hugely varying within twins in their second decade

now that is a random comment

@Cutch

Very weird reasoning but ok's ok haha.
why is it weird? i am not saying he is bad player, i was just expressing an opinion that i wouldn't have rated him as a third round pick, but maybe i am wrong and considering the vagaries of a draft it isn't surprising that he was the 35th player to be picked

Overrated. Big fish in a small pond, doesn't work for me much.
He would've been the world's best had he not been injured for 2/19ths of the season mate. What class. What vision. What technique.

he would have been one of my first picks, him along with Bergkamp. the vision would be insane but no way that team would win any votes on here

I enjoyed watching him, good highlights reel but you need a bit more than that. Would be a decent pick at this stage, mind.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say that Muppet, coolredwhine and diarm's teams are going to be wank.

I'll take the Premier Leagues finest right back. 6 times in the PFA team of the year.

Damn you cutch.. I have not heard from @MJJ all day and we did not discuss any players to pick .. but in the spirit of the draft rules I will pick with in an hour after some research

Not sure what the problem is there.

Were there better players than Hazard left? Yes. Plenty better than him in wide roles got picked after him as well.

There's a more nuanced point which comes with draft experience (which @sajeev has little, with a single draft under his belt), that of the specific type of left winger and demand vs. supply in terms of favoured formations. E.g. the problem 4-3-3 entailed: most wide players in the PL era are largely wide midfielders, not wide forwards.

But that's far from an obvious insight. Not at all a random comment.

I don't agree that there were better left wingers left when Hazard was picked but we can come back to this once the draft is at it's end
