All time ODI Draft

Pitches, standard of bowling, boundaries etc makes this era a joke for batting IMO. Tendulkar in his prime was just a different beast to AbD.

Then why isn't anyone else matching De Villiers? There are some quality players around now too, but the type of carnage De Villiers lays out is unique to him.

I'd agree but you add in the fact he's a WK and I can sort of see why he's been picked first.

Let's just say that I wouldn't picked have picked him at first when literally every other player in ODI history is available.

I think there is no reason why an argument can't be made for ABD being top 3, a middle order batsman who can hit a 30 ball hundred while averaging over 50 through his career is absolute gold in Odi cricket.

AB is an interesting pick, absolutely incredible batsman but I am not sure about the idea of him as a keeper. He is definitely good enough to be the first pick just on his batting though.

Test draft I'd agree, fine in an ODI draft IMO. You won't find day 5 rank turners and the white ball doesn't do anywhere near enough to need a proper specialist wicket keeper.

ABD is a top pick but when you play an ODI draft and get the 1st pick, you have to pick Sachin really.

There are plenty of elite batsmen out there. AB is one and him donning the gloves kills two birds with one stone.

Tendulkar the better player but AB's keeping kills two birds with one stone. Fair choice.

No argument can be made about AbD being top 3 ever in One day batsmen.

To be honest, AbD is an excellent pick. But I don't see the keeper angle though. He is a far better fielder than a keeper. You wouldn't want him behind the stumps where he can't effect a run-out.

Not surprised by the views of the T20 generation. Probably salivating at the thought of watching another mindless 300+ run chase. Or over someone smashing 50 off 20 balls with half the shots being mishits carrying over short boundaries.

Well of course Sachin > ABdV right now but I doubt even if Sachin had played in same era as AB, statistically he would have done better. And it is not just stat padding of AB, with him it is always the team first. Just the recently concluded 5th ODI and numerous such are proof that he can succeed when other good ones fail. The only reason we have gone for him above Sachin is AB can keep wickets too. Also he wasn't just makeshift WK, the guy can keep very well.

Don't get me wrong mate, he's a cracking player but Sachin was Sachin IMO.

Ofcourse, that's why they have gone for him but as a batsman, you simply cannot put him as equal to Sachin. ADB is also going to go up against much better bowling attacks here than the shit he is used to.

I kind of expected the t20 generation thing to come in earlier actually, it's pretty much the go to thing when you don't really have anything else against the player

I expected the first two picks to be Sachin, Viv. Let's see now.

Feck sakes was hoping someone would forget about Viv.

While everyone's arguing for Sachin and AB, @MJJ is salivating over Asif and Amir, neither of whom have 50 games:lol:
